My Food Tracker
The food tracker benefited me in so many ways. I total three days out and all calculated 4800 calories. The food tracker allowed me only 2000 calories a day and wanted me to target at least 150 min/week in physical activity. The recommendations for my calories were very direct and limited to only a certain amount that I could manage. It help me manage my daily food intake, inform me of the calories and fats I was placing into my body, and educated me on the need foods needed from the food pyramid. My son even loved placing the items we ate into the system to look at “our numbers” (he it calls that).
Managing my food intake of daily foods help me keep up with was going into my body. It helps me decide on things that will help me mange a stable health body. In the first chapter in the book for our class we learn that things we place into our bodies can cause chronic disease like diabetes. Diabetes does run in my family heavily and I believe this will limit and illness that may come my way. I would plan my meals out for the day and place them in the system and see what my outcome would be before I cook or prepare them from me and my son. I also tied to bake a lot of my foods and not fry them. I eliminated a lot of salts and sodium from my diet as will. The food tracker counts everything! I made to sure not to substitute to many to snacks to replace my craving of bread. Me and my son came up with fun things to eat like the old school peanut butter and celery with raisins for snacks. On the third day we actually ate nothing but veggies for dinner like asparagus, corn, and sliced Irish potatoes. The meal was very different but for my son to like it I was shocked. I even
For this part of assignment, I kept record of two consecutive days of what I ate for that days and how much calories I got from that food and drinks. Every day I usually start routine with drinking water which I think is the most important thing for a healthy lifestyle. This process has not been easy and I have struggled to stay consistent with my healthy eating habits. Keeping my cravings under control has always been a challenge and my love of bread makes things a little harder. I also recognized that I am a stress eater. I had never paid attention to my eating patterns until I begin to keep a journal. This project has definitively helped me monitor and attain a better Healthier lifestyle.
In the original three day diet analysis, Susanne Coleman found that she was not eating from all of the food groups recommended by the food pyramid. Particularly, she was not eating the amount of fruits, vegetables and grains recommended. While she felt she made wise food decisions, there was room for improvement. When completing another three day diet analysis, Susanne received different results. After completing the original three day diet analysis, Susanne has been more conscientious of her food choices. Since the first analysis, Susanne has begun to plan meals ahead and to pack her meals for the day to stay on track.
Nutrition, I have learned plays a big part in our life. To be honest I was clueless about how much nutrition affected our everyday lives. I love going to the gym working out, now that I know what should go into my diet I think I will see a lot more improvement. I occasionally follow the latest diet fads because I believed it would be better for my health, but in turn it really hurt more than it helped! This Diet Analysis project has been extremely useful course because I can personally relate to it and can use much of the information learned to my daily routines. The Diet Analysis project was a real eye opener because it let me see what exactly I was putting into my diet.

Based on a variety of personal experiences, I became very interested in the role of foods and nutrition. During my last year of highschool, my favorite who had a successful business succumbed to a strange alliment. He was tired all the time and was diagnosed to live only 1 year. While he didn't have cancer, his bloodwork had many abnormalites the doctors couldn't diagnose. He began to seek out other doctors who ultimately recommended that his see a dietitian. This changed his life. He started to eat low fat foods thats packed in vitamins, quit smoking and drinking and started to exercise regular bases. One year later, he could get out of bed, live as an full energetic person as he had before. This made him inspired to study nutrition in America. I was overwhelmed after I knew his history and never looked at food the same way again. It is clear to me now that how people eat and what people eat is an important factor in acheving optimum health, that just exercise isn't enough.
In conclusion, having a healthy lifestyle helps reduce the risk of health problems, whether you have a family history of diseases or not. Physical activity, and making smart choices with how much you consume and what you consume can expand your lifespan. Being aware of your body composition can help identify your risk classification, and it can help plan a way to avoid diseases. Just like too much body fat can be harmful to health, having too little fat can also be crucial to a person’s health. The goal should be to have a balanced calorie intake and physical activity (calorie in = calorie out) for a healthy lifestyle.
America is a capitalist society. It should come to a surprise when we live like this daily. We work for profit. We’ll buy either for pleasure or to sell later for profit. It should come to no surprise that our food is made the same way because we are what we eat. We are capitalist that eat a capitalist meal. So we must question our politics. Is our government system to blame for accepting and encouraging monopolies?
Through various observations and assumptions, there have been conversations on whether or not overconsumption of food is an addiction. However, many have come to the conclusion that food is an addiction if it is overconsume excessively than it is necessary for an individual’s diet. Nevertheless, food addiction can create health issues that can affect an individual’s body. Even though, many individual may have such knowledge of overconsumption of food; however, many may choose to ignore the consequences that comes with food addiction. Becoming a food addict is harmful and dangerous to an individual’s health.
But, food might not only sustain life, it can also give particular disease if you had the wrong selection. Knowledge about food nutrition and proper selection is too pricey to disregard. The key to have a better and healthy lifestyle is to consume a variety of foods at the right amount to meet your body’s calorie needs. Exercise and eating healthy are two of the most important things you need to do to take care of your body properly. Both exercise, and eating healthy, have many advantages and benefits. People is always asking: “Why is important to have a balanced diet? Why is necessary to have a balanced diet on a daily basis? And why do professionals tend to recommend a balanced diet?” The human being has essential needs to its existence: breathing, feeding, and keeping the body in constant movement. The majority of the people are aware of this, but they do not have a balance among these things and even more important they do not eat the adequate food to keep their body healthy. Food is one of the most important factors because it gives the energy the body needs daily. In other words, few words food is the fuel that provides glucose, which is carried to each cell of the body through the bloodstream. This process is extremely important and this is influenced by the type of food that each person consumes. A balanced diet is important for human beings, and makes reference to a good nutrition with regard to the food they eat; which contains macro nutrients that are carbohydrates, fats, and proteins; these provide energy and basic materials that the body uses to grow and stay healthy.
Previously to taking this class, I had never given much thought to my eating habits. I always thought of the way I chose to eat as one of those things I didn’t need to concern myself with too heavily now because I’m a young broke college student. The way I eat is pretty similar to the way most of my friends eat and when you live away from home, that seems like the norm for people in college. However, after applying what I’ve learned in this class to my life, I’ve realized that the dietary choices I make now affect not only my current health, but my future health as well. So overall, I would say that my eating habits are pretty bad, but I’m working on making them better.
