Aww man! We almost went the finals but almost don’t count. However, what an amazing run at the State Championship going 19-8 on the season. My Basketball seasons at Ridge Community High School were enjoyable and something I can never forget. We were a dominate team, beating all the Polk County teams that were in our district. We lead the county in assists, steals, and the most Three pointers that year, as well. We also, had one of the best players in high school that year name T.Rose. The most competitive team I enjoyed playing was our cross town rival Haines City Hornets. My Basketball season is one of the best experiences in my life. To begin with, we had a player on our team name Terry Rose. He averaged about 26.7points per game. He has the record at Ridge with most points in his career with like 1,000+ points. I’ve seen people that can shoot, but this man is the best shooter I’ve ever seen. He shoots like Ray Allen so I think he should be in the NBA. He also had good character on and off the court and with him being my teammate and us playing together, we grew a bond like brothers, because we would have never gotten that far if we …show more content…
My freshman and sophomore year we blowed them out and I scored a career high in points with 20 points. After T.Rose left to go to college at Grambling University they gave us competition. My junior year we beat them four times straight with but they beat us in the playoffs to send us home for that season. That game I say, “they beat us because I had hurt my toe”. My senior season Haines City had a good team, during that season we beat them one time and they had beat us once. They had a better season than us by going deep in the playoffs. As they made a run to the playoffs I supported them every game because Haines City is my hometown. They didn’t make it to the finals because they had to play Bartow in the second round and Bartow blowed the doors off of
...k now through everything. We should know no matter what we are put through, we can always come out on top. Our determination as a team lead us to do what many believe that we could not do, winning the state championship game against the nation number one team making the Pearland Oilers Texas Division 5A State Champions.. Even though the damages of football can be permanent over a long period of time it changed my life and I would do it all over again.
I have been in this school since kindergarden. I have been here long enough to see our school win the state title for football and I”ve also seen our school locked down. There is the good and the ugly in every story, and what side you choose to pick will make your life easier or a very long road to glory.
Entering my final season of AAU basketball I knew I had set myself up for a roller coaster of emotions, whether it was from the night of my first practice, the weekend of my first tournament, or my first time on the road with my new team. This was because a lot was on the line this season, and I strived to make this season my best, and most enjoyable. This is mostly because this was the final year getting the opportunity to put on my red and black jersey every tournament. It was my last season traveling around the country with my teammates every weekend with one goal, to win, and it was my last season to improve my skills all around, in an attempt to further my basketball career into college. During the first few practices I was nervous for how the season would go because I noticed my coach was a lot harder on me than he was to my teammates and I did not know how to take that at first.I was not used to to his coaching style of being loud, in your face, and tough, or his emphasis on "perfection" because on my past teams I was used to being the best person on the team, and my coach rarely had negative criticism for me, so I took his intense coaching style terribly.
Once again, the next year, I was on the All-Star team. This time we were all determined to stay in the tournament and win the championship. We started off lousy, though, making four errors in the first game and losing 4-0. We now had to win every game and beat the last team twice. We did defeat every team we went up against, including the team that beat us the first game, and once again ended up in the championship game.
I have a special person in my life that inspires me to better. Throughout my life I’ve had people inspire me but no one inspired me like my cousin Derrick Rose. He taught me that dreams do come true if you try hard and never give up. I’m sure we all have family members that encourage us to do well in life, but he did more than that he motivated me and showed me what success is when he became the youngest MVP in the NBA. Today I would like to talk about that inspirational person, my cousin derrick rose. My cousin Derrick Rose taught me to stay humble and never be selfish. Now let me tell you what makes him an amazing basketball player and cousin.
All throughout high school I played on the softball team. Proceeding the season before where we went undefeated with a district championship, my senior year we were supposed to be unstoppable. We received a few new players to add on to our army and the entire school was counting on our run to state. I was so excited to have an amazing end to my high school softball career, but unfortunately my dream was cut short when we lost in the first round of districts. I did not know that loss would change me the way it did.
It 's the day before my last high school varsity basketball game as a senior… Wow four years went by this fast who would have imagined this day would have came. All day I was thinking about the season ending. This game meant everything to me, it wasn 't any ordinary game. It 's a section game! Win or go home.. With it being my last high school game I wanted to close the chapter knowing I gave it my all. Practice was probably the most intense it 's ever been for me. Emotions were flaring and we were all on the grind.
However two years left him unathletic and rusty, he was moving like he wasn’t as good as he used to be, and I was in top notch shape. I beat him in a pickup game 7 to 21. A gang member like him, getting trash talked by someone like me without him even being able to say anything because I had beat him so bad left him angry. His friends watched me embarrass him on both sides of the ball. The next day I walked to the court stunned to see a dazzle of Piltus’ friends
It was definitely, overall, my best season yet. I played second base and I made diving catches. I threw myself around and dove and slid. But my most treasured memory was in the Eau Claire tournament, we were winning by a lot, and I was up to bat. I remember timing the pitcher the out….counting...
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
We did not really have a winner or a loser but if we would have we would have won. The last Volleyball tournament we went to was in Buena Vista, it was a two day camp. The Varsity team got to ride up in the RV with our coach, it was an exciting and new experience. Junior Varsity and Varsity got to go and play, the Varsity team played the first day and the Junior Varsity team got to go rafting. We made it to the championship but was not able to pull out the win.
When I think back to the long hours I spent in this gymnasium, the most prominent memory will be my final game there. It was a night of emotions. I was surrounded by encouraging teammates, supportive family and friends, and finally I received my reward for the energy I had spent there for four years: I made the game winning shot.
That season we went to make the playoffs for the first time in eight years, but had lost in the first round. Although we lost we all knew next year would be one hundred percent better. It was all because of our coach he brought a new belief that we could believe in ourselves. This followed into my seni...
The highs outweighed the lows most of the time. One of my favorite memories from playing in high school was at this one tournament. We knew going into it that we were probably not going to win it. In fact, we lost almost every game in that tournament. It was the last game in the tournament; we had to play one of the toughest teams in our conference.
He is the one who instilled in me the love of the game of basketball and the love of life. On and off the court, he has taught me life lessons that I will never forget. Since I could walk, he has put a basketball in my hand. We spend countless hours at the gym wether it is shooting, running, playing one on one, or a game of horse, we are competitive in whatever we do. We find enjoyment in spending our time together by sharing our love of the game.
