“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away.” Ever since I was little girl, whether while strumming on his guitar or singing it softly in the night while I close my eyes, those lyrics have been a special song to my father and me. For Christmas 2015, after opening all of my presents, I realized that there was still one little box left stuffed in the bottom of my stocking. I ripped open the paper to find a little jewelry box. While picking it up, I could feel that something was rattling inside. I opened the box and saw shining beautifully inside, a silver necklace with a smiling little sunshine engraved on the front of the charm. …show more content…
He is the one who instilled in me the love of the game of basketball and the love of life. On and off the court, he has taught me life lessons that I will never forget. Since I could walk, he has put a basketball in my hand. We spend countless hours at the gym wether it is shooting, running, playing one on one, or a game of horse, we are competitive in whatever we do. We find enjoyment in spending our time together by sharing our love of the game. We have spent hours upon hours driving to and from basketball practices and tournaments, jamming to music on the radio that my dad considers, “The oldies but the goodies.” Playing the game of who sings that, I try to instill a knowledge of the newest top hits in his head. My father has taught me that hard work should be fun if it is something you …show more content…
Since she was a little girl, Billy Ray, her father, has always pushed Miley to follow her dreams. Miley wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps of fame, music, and acting ever since she was a little girl. She has said in multiple interviews that he has had a major influence on her life. It became a top hit, and they even filmed some movies that have had great ratings. Both individuals have been passionate about music, including country, rock and roll, and pop. They have recorded multiple duets together, such as “Butterfly Fly Away” and “Ready, Set, Don’t Go”. Often stating that, “We are more alike than any two people could
In the nonfiction book My Losing Season by Pat Conroy, he mainly expresses all the trials and tribulations he goes through as a child and in his current livelihood as senior at Citadel college. Conroy never had a good relationship with his father, no matter what he did the constant banter and hurtful play from his father always lingered. Conroy had a military family which meant that they were constantly moving every year to two years, this never gave him the chance to really settle in with the community and create steady friendships. This also made it hard for him to adjust to the way that certain area played basketball and how well he fit in with the teams. Basketball made him happy and having such an all-star basketball player as a father
On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank all of you for your compassion and for being present here today. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mauri-Lynne, and I'm Lionel's daughter. Dad was devoted to every one of you. We all hope that you'll share your memories of him with us, if not today then in the weeks and months to come.
Eulogy for Son William was a very special person. His good qualities are endless. Since he was just a child, I always remember William sticking up for the family. When his sister, Lisa, was a baby, William would sit outside her room with a mask and cape on, ready to rescue her in case she started crying. And, if William’s father or I were making too much noise, he was always quick to fly downstairs and tell us to keep quiet so as not to disturb his little sister.
Having my dad as my coach was a great factor in my soccer career. Even though he was hard on me, he pushed me to do my best. Without him on the sidelines I wouldn’t have became the soccer player I am today. I found myself spending more time with my dad than I would have if I never played soccer. Playing soccer with him really brought us together and we have a great relationship because of it.
I stand before you today to pay my last respects, and to say my final goodbyes, to my father Harry.
I'd like to thank you all for the outpouring of support and condolences on the loss of my beautiful son Adam. My entire family appreciates it. This is my eulogy to Adam:
Eulogy for Son First, I would like to say thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love and affection from our community at last night’s viewing for John. Roger at the funeral home told us this was the largest turnout he could remember. Close to 1,000 friends—and many people who were merely touched by John’s story—waited up to four hours in the rain to pay their respects. We want you to know how very grateful and very touched we were by the response.
Another person that has influenced me is an entrepreneur and retired professional Hall of Fame basketball player Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan is not only a retired professional basketball player that went to the University of North Carolina but he also hosted a numerous of basketball camps to give children the opportunity to live out their dreams. Mr. Jordan stated. “If you 're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I 've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don 't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don 't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it” (“Quotes by Michael Jordan”). Ten years ago I came across a rerun of a Michael Jordan press conference telling the world that he is retiring from the NBA because his father was murdered and he had no longer love the game of basketball. I had always found Mr. Jordan basketball skills to be remarkable and had been very interested and why people praise him highly. I found Michael Jordan and his documentaries to be very enlightening and I love to watch videos of him play basketball because I wanted to be like him. I notice that he loves playing basketball because his documentary mentions he hates losing. Not only did Michael Jordan seem passionate about basketball, but he also talked about more than just basketball and hoping to educate younger people that he has dealt with adversity to get to the NBA. When he said that he did not love basketball
Eulogy for Son The Death of a Child. Not many people realize that the death of a child is NOT in accordance with God’s NORMAL scheme of things. It is not a natural. God did not mean for a child to go first. A child buries the parent.
Besides providing me with opportunities that would ultimately propel me to an unbelievable coaching career, he and I would eventually become allied together in a business venture that, even though it is now dormant, lives
My father had to do the little things the best on the team in order for him to have playing time. My dad had to persevere throughout his high school freshman and sophomore year on the basketball floor. He worked hard to become a better player which in order to do that he had to be better at these
Today, the most difficult day in my family’s life, we gather to say farewell to our son, brother, fiancé and friend. To those of you here and elsewhere who know Dylan you already are aware of the type of person he was and these words you will hear are already in your memory. To those who were not as fortunate, these words will give you a sense of the type of man he was and as an ideal for which we should strive. My son has been often described as a gentle soul. He was pure of heart and had great sensitivity for the world around him. He had a way with people that made them feel comfortable around him and infected others to gravitate toward him. Dylan exuded kindness and pulled generosity and altruism out from everyone he touched. He was everyone's best friend.
It is easy to pick a favorite player coming from College and going to the NBA. Staying with that one player throughout their whole career is admiring and respect for that individual person. Since I started watching basketball, Michael Jeffery Jordan was my all-time favorite player. Every time I watch, his old basketball videos made me go harder in practice every day. Michael Jordan made me believe I could be somebody in the basketball world. His height wasn’t the tallest or strongest on the court but he had a lot of skills and heart. His basketball IQ and skills made me “Want to be Like Mike”. As I studied all his moves and watched him drop amazing numbers on different NBA teams; However, those were not the only thing that made me love Michael
Before I begin I would like to thank all of you here on behalf of my mother, my brother and myself, for your efforts large and small to be here today, to help us mark my fathers passing.
When I was about seven years old my dad wanted me to go out for basketball so I tried out, he is one of the most athletic people I know. Well ever since he had me go out for basketball I have been doing sports then when I want to give up when I can’t make that perfect lay up or when I can’t make that perfect over hand serve he will sit there and help me do it till I get it done and done right. My dad also taught me how to play half my spor...
