Organizational culture is completely prevalent within law enforcement. Law enforcement develop’s this band of brotherhood that can only be understood amongst the individual’s in that culture. This culture shares value, goals and lifestyles, which is not represented by society and only shared by fellow officers. Even though this organizational culture can at times be defined as bias, because it is exclusionary of non-law enforcement personnel, it can be looked at as a positive for the members within that culture. For instance, the job of a police officer can be arduous and being able to have an outlet of like-minded officer’s help’s other officer’s deal with the anxiety and emotional stress that comes along with the job. This type of camaraderie
is what strengthens that brotherhood and created that blue wall of silence, which at times can lead to officer’s protecting bad behavior of fellow officers.

The book then ultimately provides specific strategies that can be utilized to reduce the negative emotional and physical impact of a law enforcement career. I believe the book succeeds in doing this.
Police subculture consists of the occupational culture that is shared among the police officers. It is the subculture that shapes the attitude among many police officers, which makes them cynical, isolated, defensive, alienated, distrustful, and authoritarian. Christopher Cooper stated, “Sub-culture, however, conflicts with the culture that the police department seeks to portray to the public. Oftentimes, it is the police subculture that is being blamed for the various transgressions of police officers.”
In this paper, the ethics of police management is examined in the framework of organizational justice and how management strategy effects police corruption through employee perception and proper employment strategy. Organizational Justice as studied by Muchinksy (2008) and cited by Crow, Lee and Joo (2012) is the concept of how employees perceive their treatment by management. (Crow, Lee, & Joo, 2012)

Organizational change occurs both as a result of internal and external agents (Swanson, Territo and Taylor, p. 664).
Police ethics are extremely important because ethics are the typical of “fair and honest conduct” (pg 460). People may have a different definition of what is fair and what is honest, and there are different circumstances where officers may not be able to be honest; such as covert investigations. Society in general determines what our ethical standards and moral principles are. Individual morals vary among all of us as they are what we as an individual consider to be right or wrong. We also have morals that are set by society. These are what we as a society consider to be right or wrong and may go hand in hand with individual morals. Morals change as society and people change, therefore we as a country have to adapt to what the changing morals are.
At some point in our lives, everybody eventually comes in contact with a law enforcement officer, some people for different reasons. Law enforcement officers work around the clock to keep citizens safe. Many people do not know a lot of things about law enforcement, some of those will be discussed. It is both a result and a cause of police isolation from the larger society and of police solidarity. Its influence begins early in the new officer’s career when he is told by more experienced officers that the “training given in police academies is irrelevant to ‘real’ police work”. In my opinion, the many different views of police culture can vary in many different situations. I say this because of the many different views this can be misleading at times. I think what's needed is reform of a police culture that has often infected relations between police and blacks, destabilized respect for cops and the law, and set the basis for the many deaths.
