As a teaching assistant, I should have a clear vision of what the learning objectives are and what are the intended outcomes of these objectives and how the teacher wish to achieve it. Sometimes the objective may have set for half termly but still however before each lesson I should discuss the learning objective with the learning group I have been assigned for . Depending on the objectives I should plan activities and prepare materials that are chorded at the apt tune for the learner’s different skills. It is also vital to make sure that the learner understands how each activity relates to his or her goals and targets.
I found this assignment the most difficult so far in this class. I am glad that I get to write a reflection on the assignment. After reading the professor’s and classmates’ comments along with rereading the text, I realized that I missed part of the correlation of the InTASC model with Danielson’s Framework for Teaching. As a class, we all seemed to agree that there are many similarities between InTASC Model and the Danielson’s Framework for Teaching. Both models purpose is to help teachers and administration to identify individual strengths and areas of growth. We agreed that there were slight differences in the wordage used and the structure of the Domains vs. Standards but that they were interchangeable for the most part. In fact, in the book Enhancing Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching, Danielson shows the direct correlation of the INTASC Standards with the Framework for Teaching Components on page8 & 9.
I being a teaching assistant needs to recognise the child or young adult is at the centre of the learning by treating everyone as an individual learner.
I will teach to the objectives and I will teach to the standards. I will make sure that my lessons are hitting on as many standards as possible.
One important aspect to make students’ learning valuable is to focus the planning in setting objectives in terms of desired outcomes (knowledge skills, attitudes, values) that we want our students to develop. By developing clear objectives, students feel that there is a reason for learning. Also, it is important to provide feedback, because it helps students improve their goals’ achievement and solidify their understanding.

In order to be an effective teacher there needs to be an understanding that we all learn differently, this means that no single teaching strategy is effective for all students/learners all the time. This makes teaching a complex process because you need to understand and meet the requirements of all of your learners. Students learn best when they aren’t asked to simply memorise information but when they form their own understandings of what is being taught. When a student has successfully learnt a new idea they are able to then intergrate this information with their previously learnt information and make sense of it. To be an effective teacher you need to work jointly with students to asses where they are at, be able to give feedback on how the student is going and ensure that they are understanding the lesson (Killen, 2013) According to Lovat and Smith (2003) students learning must result in a change in a student’s understanding of the information being taught. In order to show understanding they must be able to share this information with others and want to learn more (Killen, 2013). In order to have a deeper understanding of what is being taught they need to be aware of the relationship that exists between what they knew previously and the new information that is being learned (Killen, 2013).. Students need to be given goals that they can achieve in order to feel a sense of mastery over their own learning, this gives students motivation that they are able to complete tasks and to keep going.

With that, the children are all able to finish their work faster with no doubts. This shows how effective the teacher’s planning is to catar to the needs of the children. Therefore, the teacher should be aware of the children’s individual learning style so as to plan the lesson accordingly.
Understanding the educator and learners role, assessments, methods of assessing needs, readiness to learn, learning styles and instruments are equally as important as having an understanding of theories. According to Bastable (2014), the educators role includes: assessing problems/deficits, provide information/present it uniquely and appropriately, identify progress, give feedback and follow-up, reinforce learning, and evaluate learners’ ability. Additionally, the educator must be able to assess the learner, establish his or her needs, the learners readiness to learn, literacy, and which style of learning would best benefit him or her.
Before the lesson is prepared, the teachers must have a clear understanding of the objectives of the lesson to be taught. By having an understanding of what they students will able to accomplish at the end of the lesson, the content remains focused and thorough. The teacher must then express these objectives to the students including the standards for performance. Students can then be held accountable for expectations that are known.
As a graduate student in the field of science and engineering, I am constantly learning, and in the same time, I am also constantly sharing my knowledge to the undergraduate students as a teaching assistant. I have been and will be serving as a TA for my department for all four semesters (2014 Fall-2016 Spring). I have demonstrated my proficiency in teaching in various instances from leading students in laboratory courses to solving queries in theory courses, and my efforts have been recognized by the students in the end-term evaluations. I enjoy and cherish the TA experience I have, and I believe that I will keep contribute as a TA in my Ph.D. study.
I then will look at my ending goal. I want to know where I want and need my students to be at the end of my lesson. I will also take into consideration where my students stand with prior knowledge to the subject I will be teaching. I also think it is important for myself to know the content well in order to teach it to my students, most effectively. In my teaching practice, as a Health and Social Care Teacher, I try to identify and meet individual learner needs, boost their morale and encourage them using all the necessary available and on target resources. Values and attitudes were influencing the way our students were learning at all times; therefore, they are considered an important part of the curriculum, hence the purpose of teaching and learning resources is mostly to provide a source of learning experience for our students.

The role and responsibilities of a teacher is very complex. Teachers are responsible for making sure their learners acquire the knowledge they need, but also achieve their qualification by the end of the course in a safe learning environment, so they have the skills and experience they need to start their careers. To achieve that goal a teacher must be creative, professional, flexible and knowledgeable enough to deal with daily challenges and find different ways to help their learners needs. Establishing a safe and stimulating environment for learners, creating mutual respect and set goals that stretch and challenge learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
My goal as a teacher is to improve my student’s education and help them grow knowledgably. I like to see students at different levels develop with each other and learn. I want to challenge the students and watch them grow to their highest level of education. Therefore, having the students in groups is the best educational strategy I like to use a lot. I want my students to have freedom with whatever creativity they want, and to allow them to express themselves at any time. With this freedom students will be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and be able to figure their weaknesses and strengths. Education is for everyone and it’s a right by low for all; teachers, on the other hand, should do their jobs very honestly and effectively.
