My Experience As A Teaching Assistant

As a graduate student in the field of science and engineering, I am constantly learning, and in the same time, I am also constantly sharing my knowledge to the undergraduate students as a teaching assistant. I have been and will be serving as a TA for my department for all four semesters (2014 Fall-2016 Spring). I have demonstrated my proficiency in teaching in various instances from leading students in laboratory courses to solving queries in theory courses, and my efforts have been recognized by the students in the end-term evaluations. I enjoy and cherish the TA experience I have, and I believe that I will keep contribute as a TA in my Ph.D. study. During my graduate study, I am an active member of the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and the local section of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). I participate in the meetings held by these organizations and frequently share my voice in an effort to aid their decision. At the age of 15, during a trip to Australia, in the Great Barrier Reef, I was introduced to scuba diving for the first time. Ever since then, I never cease to participate in scuba diving. For six years, I took part in over 50 dives in 7 different countries and regions, from the seething embrace of the Caribbean Sea, the crystal transparency of the Indian Ocean, to the cold current of the Pacific Ocean. I am currently certificated as a rescue diver which indicates my mastery in underwater emergency response during diving, ability in underwater searching for lost divers, and proficiency in performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on unconscious divers. My enthusiasm towards the ocean is one of the driving force that motivates me to apply for UCSB.
