My goal as a teacher is to improve my student’s education and help them grow knowledgably. I like to see students at different levels develop with each other and learn. I want to challenge the students and watch them grow to their highest level of education. Therefore, having the students in groups is the best educational strategy I like to use a lot. I want my students to have freedom with whatever creativity they want, and to allow them to express themselves at any time. With this freedom students will be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and be able to figure their weaknesses and strengths. To become an affective teacher, I would began managing my class from the beginning of the school year by providing rules to the class that they must follow. When I give rules, students tend follow them every day, and count them as a usual duties they must do every day in my classroom. Rules build buildings build a city, a community, a country, therefore rules can build my class the way I want it to be built and raised. There will be punishments and there will be awarding to those who listen and to those who don’t, everything is managed. But, I see management differ from grade level to another, because, for example, the punishment for a kindergartner will differ from the punishment to an eighth grader. Also the class rules will differ as well from a low grade level to a higher grade level. The rules will be less strict and less worry for low grade level students, because they are little kids still they don’t understand very quickly. Therefore, low grade level teachers, I believe must have more patience than the high level grade teachers. The second most effective step to take in a classroom after making sure the class is managed carefully, is to become with great instructional methods. Children are creative, enthusiastic, honest, inquisitive, loving, and full of energy! Yet at times they become easily bored, disappointed, frustrated, indignant, and stubborn. Even with all these seemingly contrasting characteristics in common, each child is a unique person with talent and potential for achievement, but also different learning styles. As a teacher, helping to develop each child's capacity for learning will be compounded by many factors. Such as, emotional or personal turmoil due to family issues at home, personality and temperament conflicts within the classroom, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and the simple fact that there are too many children to teach at the same time. With all these different needs in the classroom, good classroom management is a must in order to begin to determine what will work best for each child. There comes a time in person’s life when their must make decisions that will further go on to impact their life vastly. For many, that decision is whether to further their education or not. For those who do decide to further their education, they must choose which type of schooling is best, college or vocational schooling. Vocational schooling may appeal to those who are looking for an alternative and less expensive form of education. College, the more standard form of education, gives students the ability to have more flexibility since a variety of careers can be open to them from the major they choose. Both forms of education have its advantages and disadvantages, while benefiting the future of the student in the long run.
I am an African American female who attends the University of Chicago Charter School, which is located on the South side of Chicago. I am seventeen years old and I live and attend school in a predominantly Black neighborhood. I have seen plenty in my seventeen years of living. My goal is to go to college and become a teacher, so that I can return to Chicago and help the people in my community. In six years, I will be giving back to the community and helping the world become better place. I will help teach kids not to live in stereotypes and let them bring them down.
In my observation, I have seen the teachers address children more often as individuals than as a group. There were many times when the children need individual care or attention more so than as a group. A prime example that I observed was when a child misbehaved, and one child got hurt. At times like this, the teachers provided personal attention for nurturing and discipline. For the child who got hurt the teacher was very caring. She cuddled the child and consoled him until he felt better. For the child that required discipline the teacher was sterner while still maintaining a nurturing aspect. I observed many times individual care was needed more so than the overall group. When it came time for learning the teacher would have a group activity called “Circle Time”. All the children would sit in a group and do various learning activities such as naming pictures of animals, saying the ABC song, and doing shapes. If children could not name an animals the teacher would make the sound for that animal to help encourage the children to guess. In my opinion, the teachers were not always flexible when it came to certain activities. When the children were doing station play, this was not a flexible activity; the children were placed in small groups and had 10 to 15 min increments to explore each station. If a child did not like the station, they had to stay with that station until it was time to change. My philosophy of classroom management is that the management of elementary classrooms require several things. Among patience, determination and motivation are: flexibility, careful planning and consistency. A well-managed classroom did not get well-managed without a teacher who planned, had a flexible vision and was determined. Any new teacher, who is asked, will say they want a classroom with as few behavioral problems as possible as well as one that is easily manageable. But any experienced teacher, who is asked, will tell those new teachers that classrooms do not come "well managed". They have to be made into well-managed classrooms. These experienced teachers would also encourage by saying that it is not easy, but that it is not impossible to have a manageable classrooms. On the other hand, they would be quick to add that all classrooms will have behavioral problems at some point or another. This is proven to be true to anyone who has been in an elementary classroom, whether they were a teacher, observer or a student themselves. But what teachers can take to comfort is that they can prepare themselves. The first thing that is needed is flexibility. Being able to evolve with changing needs is something teachers need to acquire quickly. Adaptability can make or break classroom climate. A teacher who is not flexible and wants things one way, will find themselves in a power struggle that will be hard to reverse. When we talk about education, we remember our teachers of elementary, middle and high school because they left their mark on our lives, and are who we truly taught things that even we , and we have to our knowledge, is that the main purpose of my philosophy educational. The basis of my educational philosophy pragmatism. The goal of education for pragmatists is the socialization of the individual and the transmission of cultural ideas of man to new generations. In this way, new generations have no need to repeat it step by step, the experiences of their ancestors (Riestra, 1970). The school must be active in developing critical thinking in the learner. This should not be a passive entity in the process of their education, you must learn to learn . The school must prepare students for this interaction with their environment that is always changing.
Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviours. Motivation is what causes us to act, whether it is getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge. Goal Setting is where we set specific targets aims that we wish to achieve, they need to be S.M.A.R.T or else they become dreams rather than believable goals. .
The others who easily catch on can feel held back by those students. Sometimes these students can get very flustered if the other students do not learn the lesson as fast as they do. Grouping these students will let them learn at their own pace and open the child’s mind for more learning. Having fewer kids in these groups will also offer each child more one on one time with the teacher and also help the shy kids to gain enough confidence to speak up and get the help the need. Those other students who already know the material might laugh or get annoyed if another student asks a question that they already know and think the other student should know too. This can be very hurtful to the child asking the question and be conveyed as bullying. Bullying is a very big problem that a lot of schools face. When a child is being bullied learning can be the least of their worries. Ability grouping can help eliminate some of that bullying. Our subjectivity is heavily influenced by the amount of education that we receive. The effort that people contribute to enhancing academic excellence today is what makes learning possible and effective. Through the proper use of our academic knowledge we can construct society together. Schooling is an evident pathway toward generating social change and it is important that education is properly enforced and easily accessed by all people. Because education enables a person to grasp an understanding of his or her society, we as educated people have a crucial responsibility for contributing to social advancement.
Classrooms are filled with students of different learning levels, developmental rates, and various amounts of self-esteem and determination. Educators have the daily challenge of finding new teaching strategies, as well as stimulating and maintaining student motivation, and minimizing anxiety in the classroom. Educational theorists believe that motivation is a large factor of and has a strong impact on academic achievement. Classroom environment, specific teaching strategies and encouraging autonomy may be considered in order for teachers to promote motivation in the classroom. In addition to motivation, decreasing anxiety can also lead to positive learning outcomes. Teachers can incorporate clear guidelines, goals, and support to lower anxiety. Practicing anxiety management strategies may also be a lifelong skill teachers can offer students. High motivation and anxiety management strategies can result in academic achievement in the classroom, and personal success outside the classroom, as well.
Achieving any goal requires self-discipline. It involves a conscious awareness of our actions and the ability to overcome some of the bad habits that might be holding us. Instilling self- discipline into our lives is not easy task.
If I owned my own school, it would reflect on all the positive features that my elementary and secondary schools offered me. Education opens minds that were closed, but now they are open because of the experiences the student had. Schooling gives you the materials you need to help in the work world and teaches you how to be a powerful member of society. Education is important because you are able to connect with teachers who become close to you. Community is just one aspect of a school that makes it powerful. Teachers are another aspect that can make the school significant. Instilment of positive values is final aspect of school that can make it influential too. Improving the teaching profession begins with finding creative ways to provide our students with a world class education. I can strengthen the teaching profession by continuing to support and train new teachers and veteran teachers throughout the year. Teachers leave the profession due to being overwhelmed with the entire teaching and learning process. It is my job to mentor and support these teachers by providing researched based strategies, providing models of quality instruction, and provide them with a viable curriculum they can follow to ensure academic success.
