Knowledge is the key to achievement and it all starts with schooling. Education is one of the most important things in a person’s life; it is what they make of it. Research has shown that there are different techniques that have helped students learn to their greatest capacities. Ability grouping is one of them and happens mostly with Elementary school pupils. This technique is a system of grouping students through their learning ability level benefitting each child.
Two main types of ability grouping are between-classroom and in-classroom grouping. In-classroom grouping is where teachers group children just in their classroom. For each lesson that they teach the teacher picks three or four students depending on their ability to learn and how

The others who easily catch on can feel held back by those students. Sometimes these students can get very flustered if the other students do not learn the lesson as fast as they do. Grouping these students will let them learn at their own pace and open the child’s mind for more learning. Having fewer kids in these groups will also offer each child more one on one time with the teacher and also help the shy kids to gain enough confidence to speak up and get the help the need. Those other students who already know the material might laugh or get annoyed if another student asks a question that they already know and think the other student should know too. This can be very hurtful to the child asking the question and be conveyed as bullying. Bullying is a very big problem that a lot of schools face. When a child is being bullied learning can be the least of their worries. Ability grouping can help eliminate some of that bullying. If a child knows that they are a slower learner than others, they might think down about themselves lowering their self-esteem. The lowering of self-esteem in the minor years can cause some long-term damage to a person; making their life more difficult than if they had a high self-esteem. Even if another student finds out that one of their peers is in the lower level ability group they might bully them by calling them vulgar names making it even harder for that student they are bullying to learn. Lowering the pace of learning can also lower the level of motivation the student has for education. Some students will not have the motivation to learn if they do not have to push themselves. If a student is put into the wrong group, how fast or slow the teachers are teaching might irritate them. Another factor that could lessen the greatness of ability grouping is determining what strategies to use when grouping these children. Testing the children on the subject would be a great way to find out what learning level they are on, but not all students test scores will be precisely accurate of what education level they are actually on. Putting each student into the proper group is virtually impossible but with the right technique and enough thought each child can be put in the right group, giving them the chance to broaden their learning

If a child was held back other students would pursue them as slower than others. The child would as of the children say him or she was. If children begin to call them names such as dumb they child would began to think they were so. Another child could pick on this child that was held back for being the same age as them but in a lower grade. This could result in the child feeling as if no one was there for them. In this essay I will be describing a few study skills that could be useful in the path to success during my own studies. I will also be explaining how I will be implementing them into my studies. Also, I will be identify two challenges that I may face during my studies and explaining a few steps that I will use to address them.
Research on the social and cognitive effects of grouping students in mixed-abilities versus same-abilities classrooms is gaining increasing interest among practitioners and researchers. In hopes of attaining higher scores, many schools have adopted homogeneous ability grouping. Unlike them, our school has adopted the policy of mixed ability classes where students of different academic abilities study together in the same class. Indeed, there is a lot of research in favor of heterogeneous ability grouping, but is this beneficial to us?
I think that the nature of knowledge is relative. Not all children can learn in the same environment. I believe that if a child is put in an environment in which they cannot learn they should be placed in another environment so that they can. Some students learn at a slow pace and others learn at a fast pace. Then there are the students that learn better by lectures and others that learn better by activities. If you mix these children in the same class, than there are usually some lost kids in the class? I know that in my experiences with school, I would have never made it in a normal classroom since I learned so much slower than the other kids did.

I originally planned to work with them individually when they would be in class. I also planned to go through all the same lessons with these students as the rest of the class. I quickly realized this would not be possible. I noticed right away with lesson one the students would not get to participate in the whole group activity. The three students were in and out at different times as well, so I could not have them work as a group.
People all learn at a different pace, some may be faster than others at learning something. It just depends on how the specific person learns best, or how much they already know on a specific topic. Other than the obvious fact that people learn differently, you as a teacher also have to take into consideration those that can not understand because of a mental disability that they may have. It is really common for someone of special needs to be put into a classroom and you have to be sure to not leave them behind, and make sure that they understand what you are teaching. It may be a slower process, but it is necessary. On the opposite side of that, there are the people who get all that you throw at them really easily. Those people may get bored, so you may have to give them something harder to do so that they are challenged and interested. To be fair and sure that people all learn properly, you should split them into three groups for each lesson that you teach. The group that completely understands what they need to, the group that is average and kind of gets it, that may need a little more help, and the group that definitely needs help with the topic. Doing this, you can ensure that each group will eventually be on the same level of understanding. Students should not have the opportunity to learn because the teacher can not relate to them, or because the teacher does not have the time to answer all their questions, or because their teacher only gives attention to the smarter students.

Examples of this would be a certain seating arrangement or even just changing all the time to reach each students style. Knowing and learning styles might be one of the most important things to learn from your students at the beginning of each school year. There are several tests out there that can help with this, but know each style is also important. Knowing your own learning intelligence as a teacher will also help you and is important. This allows you to know in which way you will best be able to absorb information that is important in our teaching. Multiple intelligences are a vital part of any teacher’s lesson plans and are especially necessary in the ever-changing diversities of the schools. Learning styles will bring out the strengths and weaknesses.
My goal as a teacher is to improve my student’s education and help them grow knowledgably. I like to see students at different levels develop with each other and learn. I want to challenge the students and watch them grow to their highest level of education. Therefore, having the students in groups is the best educational strategy I like to use a lot. I want my students to have freedom with whatever creativity they want, and to allow them to express themselves at any time. With this freedom students will be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and be able to figure their weaknesses and strengths. Education is for everyone and it’s a right by low for all; teachers, on the other hand, should do their jobs very honestly and effectively.
