As I reflect on my college life, I wonder about the choices I have made that have led me to where I am today and that will guide me into shaping who I long to become. The things I have had to sacrifice, the support and experiences I have had with family, friends, strangers and work colleagues. I don’t know what I will be doing three months or thirty years from now but I do know that I want to have new experiences. When I graduated from high school, I knew I didn’t want to be that person that moved back to the same town and stayed there for the rest of my life. I even contemplate leaving the United States in my adult life. Who really knows, maybe those cards are still in the deck. For now, I know my immediate goals include focusing on completing my college education the best I can, and moving away from my comfort zone, broadening my horizons and taken risks.
Like the article “African American Women in the Workplace: Relationships Between Job Conditions, Racial Bias at Work, and Perceived Job Quality” Dina is being restricted from the opportunity to work in the modeling industry. The modeling workforce is plagued with institutionalized racism, which therefore hinders Dina from finding a job. Since institutionalized racism is dominant when Dina tries to find a job, this causes segregation amongst individuals of different races in the modeling workforce.
(Giroir, 2013). In this particular assignment, I am asked to interview a college graduate or
Examination to get in the Hong Kong University. So I stayed in Hong Kong and studied.
I had not heard about inductive interview until my professor assign our qualitative research class an exercise related to that topic. He required our class to “inductively determine your interviewee’s conception of “closeness” without asking for a definition. Actually, I was confused about the true meaning of inductive interview. I have had some basic understandings of inductive approach and inductive analysis but I was not sure about the connection between these concepts and inductive interview. I did a quick search on google and no exact concept was found. So I came back to the assignment requirement and tried to find some clues of how to conduct an inductive interview. At first, I felt lucky that at least my professor gave me a suggestion
I tend to be quite critical of other speakers. Much of what I write is about what he or she
I agree that the interprofessional interview was very information in terms of the knowledge acquired. Yes, granted that we work with various health care professionals but the personal interview gave one an in-depth knowledge of what people do and how their roles though individual professions are intertwined with what we all do as we care for our patients. A medication safety officer who works within a health care team does perform an important function which may not be fully apparent until one does an interview with them; It underscores the importance of that particular assignment because it increased our understanding of our individual roles.
Since this is my first informational interview, I was struggling to maintain the conversation flow. In the 45-minute interview, there were several times where I had no idea how to respond her answer. I tried hard to keep the conversation flowing by asking any other random questions that came into my mind. I realized that I have to improve this weakness by having more experience for interviewing someone and being more focus of what he or she is talking about.
Interviewing is one of the most difficult clinical skills to master. Both intellectual and emotional skills are required when conducting an interview. The first step of a successful interview is setting the stage for the interview. The first minutes should be to meet and greet the patient. This provides some assurance and comfort to the patient. When meeting the patient for the first time, establishing a positive rapport so that the patient will feel at ease to discuss the issue that warranted the visit is of high priority. It is important to greeting and welcomes the patient using their name. Introducing self and identifying one’s specific role and the time limits of the interview. Make sure the patient is ready and their privacy is maintained. It is important to conduct the interview in a quiet and private environment. (Seidel, Ball, Dains, Flynn, Solomon, & Stewart, 2011).
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
Thank you so much for taking time to meet with me yesterday for an informational interview. I especially appreciated learning about how great of a difference you have been able to make in your respective positions throughout your time at General Mills.
The interview, conducted within An Overview of Investigative Interviewing (1998), depicted a scenario of a woman who had been assaulted. After reviewing the material, there were many points to consider, such as the location of the interview, barriers to communication, what was done well, what could be improved, communication, and planning. Overall, the interviewer did well in his role, and the problems found could be easily remedied.
When conducting an interview, there are several steps that should be taken into consideration. From the minute that you meet the interviewee, an opinion is made of the overall mood for the interview. Therefore, it is important to start the interviewing process off on a positive note. The interview is the first interaction with a company. As the interviewer, you are acting as the “face” of the company – displaying a positive impression of the company allowing for positive reviews and feedback on the company. As the interviewer, you are classified as the individual to establish rapport. It is essential to start off an interview with a warm, friendly introduction by greeting the interviewee
The career that I would love to have is to be a publicist. My career goals consist of being a founder and CEO of my own PR firm. So, for my career research, I was trying to find a person who is similar to my race, gender, and spirituality. I wanted to understand the field that I am interested in by interviewing someone who has the same background as I do. By interviewing someone with the same similarities as me, I would get a sense of what my obstacles would be as well as how to overcome the obstacles. Assigned to this assignment, I knew that the overall process would be a little challenging. However, I underestimated those challenges. In my head, I knew exactly what type of person I wanted to interview for this assignment. Again, the person I wanted to interview had to be a faith driven, black or a woman of color, who founded and is a CEO of her own company. I felt like since I had a specific professional in mind, finding a professional would be challenging. In my essay, I will discuss further on my experience of using my network to find the professional to interview, the process of setting up my
