"To be successful, you must accept all challenges that come your way. You can't just accept the ones you like" Mike Gafka. Gafka’s quote summarizes my Junior year as I had to grew accustom to many difficulties, face many challenges, and struggles such as time management as well as how I decided to take three Ap classes during my Junior year. Which were Ap US History, Physics, and English not to mention having a Math 140 zero period class and a Network+ computer course outside of school which made me have a busy schedule. Nevertheless I learned and gain a lot of new knowledge throughout my Junior year. Furthermore, my most challenging courses throughout my Junior year were Ap US history and Ap English Language. As for Ap US history time management …show more content…
As Junior year is regarded as your most important year while taking exams such as SAT, ACT, SBAC and AP test. Junior year to me felt very similiar to my Sophomore year in high school, as I still meet new people and friends from sports and got closer to many new teachers. Two new areas in which I improved throughout my Junior year were my character and responsibility. Throughout my Junior year I learned to be more humble and not procrastinate. I learned that majority of the time doing an assignment as soon as possible is almost if not always going to turn out better than waiting until the last …show more content…
Since I may not take sports next year as a Senior, as I plan to take five Ap classes which are Ap English literature, Physics II, Computer Science, Gov and Econ, and Calculus. As I feel if I take sports my Senior year I will be overwhelmed stressing to much to manage time for all my classes. Although I had a lot of memorable moments during Cross Country such as running the Mt. Sac course, breaking my personal running record, and running for league finals. In addition, to my growth and success the course I success and enjoy the most is math and my PSAT. For example for math I have and plan to try my best to keep and manage having an A as I have not yet finished a semester in any of my years in high school and finished with a grade lower than an A. As for my PSAT I improved my scores by almost 200 as I got a 940 my Sophomore year and a 1130 my Junior year as I plan to continue to keep improving my SAT scores. Especially my math scores as I may plan on becoming a math major after high
As many people have told me before, it is a very different ballgame than middle school’s easy going years. There is much more work, the classes are harder, and the environment is completely different. Many people’s grades may slip and they may cower in fear at the barrage of assignments they receive class after class. Unlike other people, I am confident in my ability to excel at all classes and to sustain exemplary grades. Therefore, while many are trembling in fear at the prodigious assignments and work is bombarding them from all angles, I will be at ease, knowing that whatever obstacle is thrown my way, I will conquer it and be its own
In high school, I have taken both AP and IB classes. Along with rigorous school work, I
My lifetime goal is helping others and I plan to use my career to fulfill it. The classes I’m taking right now and the ones I’m planning to take senior year are classes I believe will influence my decision in my college major/career as well as counting toward my GPA. This will help me get into schools who have medical programs that I’m considering. Also, taking AP classes can help me save money since I can earn college credit. I’m taking all AP classes, and the electives I’m taking have been classes that have helped me consider being in the medical field. I’ve found that over the years, science and math are what I’m doing better in versus history and english. I believe by being in the medical field, I can help others in the best way I can.
When I began high school, I decided to focus on my academics and athletics because I felt those were the most important to my future. I chose my classes carefully so that I would not only be challenged with rigorous classes, but also learn the value of working hard individually and as a team. As I’ve matured over the last few years I realized that I’m able to participate in a wider range of activities and still excel in my academics and athletics. I intend to continue to balance activities such as these while attending
My short-term goals will be completed throughout High School. I am taking a lot of Mathematical classes in High School, this year I am taking Statistics and Business Math. Next year I will either take Calculus or Precalculus. I like taking math courses because there is a lot of math in anyone's life time. Also my career choices require a lot of math, most classes they like to see I have already taken. I plan to get high grades in all of my classes so Colleges will take me seriously. One of my favorite classes is Statistics and I have a decent grade in it too. My activities at school include being in the Woodshop Club. It is very enjoyable for me and I hope to do more in woodworking as I grow older as a hobby. Activities outside of school include mainly Boy Scouts and work. I plan to get my Eagle Scout rank and I might go on to get Eagle Palms. I work as a Concrete laborer and I also do some finishing, it is a very
The most challenging class that I have taken during my senior year would be AP Calculus. Having to transition in going to Precalculus to AP Calculus have been a brave action for me to do. AP Calculus has been the class of my senior year that I am having the most struggle on. Even though I have been struggling in that class, I have the ability to make myself to go to tutoring with my AP Calculus teacher Mr. Ninofranco in order to clarify my confusions. I had to endure all the challenging courses with hard work and dedication to the subject in order to fully understand it and obtain a passing grade. This year, I have found my strength in having the ability to ask for help whenever I am confused at a certain point. I had the chance to take the advantage of using the resources that my school have made available to me.
As a student in her sophomore year, I am still learning about what I can do and what I want to do. Although I am young, my mother always told me that it is never too early to start thinking about the future, which is why it is an honor to be able to apply for the membership of being part of National Honor Society. I have always loved challenges no matter what the result because nothing is equal to the experience of trying. I take the things I have learned from my past experiences and use them as a guide to help me in the future. I haven't ever once stopped to give up if I encountered an obstacle, but rather embraced it and thought of ways to overcome them.
According to Randall S. Hansen in “25 Tips to Help You Survive and Thrive Your Freshman Year and Beyond,” the transition from high school to college is not a big deal if a student follows these tips that can help him to survive in his years as a student. In addition, Hansen claims that it is during this time where many students make critical decisions that will produce a big effect all the rest of your life. In my personal opinion, I think that Hansen is totally right. In general, these tips are helpful for any student that want to improve their classes quickly.
To some students, senior year means parties, prom, graduation, and senior week but my focus is mainly to accomplish these three things: make it to playoffs for field hockey, receive honor roll as much as I possibly can, and simply make the most of my last year in high school. Senior year is the last year you spend with all the friends you have grown up with. I believe that senior year is the most important year of high school because it is your last “free” year. After senior year you either head onto college, start a career in the work force, or enlist in the military. You are no longer viewed as a child and are on your way to starting adulthood. Senior year helps to determine where you will go in life and how successful you could be.
The biggest challenge I ever faced personally is when I decided to taken AP Biology during my senior year of high school. One of the reasons I took this class, was that I wanted to gain a few credits before I started college. The other was that, my original plan was to take a class that have me a step into my future major, Biology. Technically the major I wanted to take was Zoology, but very few colleges, especially Farmingdale, don't have it.
Oh Jr. High, you moved on from the little elementary classes and now you're in the real deal. Things will be different, you will get chromebooks, more homework and even crazier teachers (cough cough Mrs Delucia) but their are some things you should know. Things like what and what not to get involved in also known as your social life, some of the responsibilities of a Jr. Higher and some of the academic up and downs, (there are more ups than downs but still, you should know about them). New opportunities will arise such as after school sports, leads in school plays ASB (student government), yearbook editing and photography, cool electives, awesome field trips to Astrocamp, Catalina Island and, Washington D.C andit will be the first year that you do science fair. You should know how to handle all these things, and that is the exactly what this essay is for.
College is the main goal of my life. It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the SAT's to get into college. My GPA and SAT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my business career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
High school is like a whole new thing. It changed me in many ways it changed me to be responsible and to be mature. Here in high school they don't let things pass so fast like they used in middle school they know how we are. I stared to pay attention more in my classes and doing really good in my classes.
Analyzing literature was a completely new concept for me until my freshman year of high school. It was first introduced as commentary, and I thought it was repeating the quote in a different way; a lengthier sentence that explains the quote with personal feelings. The teacher would always advise us to think about the significance of the text we are commenting on. I have been taught that commentary is our own interpretation of the quote. Sophomore year of high school, more essays were assigned, and I got away with summarizing quotes. On good days, when coming across an amazing quote, I sprinkle a tad bit of a reflection, where I go in depth with its significance. Perhaps the teacher puts more focus into the thesis, so less weight was put onto
Instead of doing practice problems like I did in math, I would outline and re-organize my notes to internalize historical concepts and how events intertwined with themselves and their contexts. I had to consciously take steps back from the material to grasp the overarching themes that were central to the course, which I rarely had to do in math and science. I figured that consistent, paced out work was the best way avoid overwhelming myself, and as I planned my outlining throughout the week, my time management skills increased to the point that I felt strange not maximizing my waking hours. The time consuming nature of the class convinced me that I couldn’t afford to waste a single minute, and while this has drastically improved my time management skills, it has also convinced me that I am motivated and skilled enough to conquer any of the challenges to come. I’ve built up a new skill set through AP World, one of self-discipline, consistent hard work, and adaptive learning, that I can rely on and improve upon in the coming
