Analyzing literature was a completely new concept for me until my freshman year of high school. It was first introduced as commentary, and I thought it was repeating the quote in a different way; a lengthier sentence that explains the quote with personal feelings. The teacher would always advise us to think about the significance of the text we are commenting on. I have been taught that commentary is our own interpretation of the quote. Sophomore year of high school, more essays were assigned, and I got away with summarizing quotes. Throughout the length of schooling, students go through various changes. In their first year of school, children are required to make the transition from being at home for the entire day to being in school for a number of hours a day. These transition periods happen many times through the schooling years, but the most drastic changes occur during the transition from high school to college, where students weather numerous lifestyle changes. While each individual student goes on their own journey, certain themes remain common between different students. Studies are done to look at these themes identifying the numerous differences and similarities.
It would be foolish to claim that I have never overanalysed and disregarded conveying ideas and theories properly, in the interest of impressing my reader. Nevertheless, this aspiration indicates there is more to academic writing than simply passing information.
Nowadays, discussing many issues, political or social, facing the United States has become a divisive enterprise, and often devolves into shouting matches between the various viewpoints. By far the most overlooked and problematic circumstance we face is that of race, diversity, and assimilation into American society. As painful and uncomfortable as it is to admit, despite the progress made in the last 150 years, the United States is doing a pretty terrible job integrating immigrants and other minorities into our society, despite the amends we have made as a nation.
Some teenagers believe that life should imitate high school. Adolescents think they should never have an inordinate amount of pressure foist upon them, and that deadlines are strictly an outline to go by. If something is done incorrectly the first time they can just keep doing it until it's right. However, when young adults enter 'the real world' they come to the horrific realization that their boss doesn't care how they feel, and if the deadline is missed, there can be severe consequences. High school should aim at preparing young adults for real life, rather than misleading them to believe the world will continue to revolve around them.
A literary analysis paper argues an opinion based on the piece of literature being evaluated. A literary analysis starts with a clear and concise thesis outlining what the essay is going to contain. A writing is considered a literary analysis when it answers the questions “who”, “what”, “when”, “where”, and “how”. Textual evidence is used to explain different descriptions throughout the writing. For example, quotes and other pieces of evidence are used to explain specific facts about characters and the plot.

The two unlike schools, two unlike states, two different counties, and two very different living styles had many similarities and many differences. There were little differences in things such as the way people dressed to big things such as the number of people in the graduating class. There were many similarities as well, such as them both being a high school and them both having a reputable curriculum. I was able to experience both a country school for the first two years of high school as well as a city school for the last two years of high school. Academically, I have learned many new ways to look at literature. My high school teachers did not expose us to many literary theories or how to apply them. Indeed, we learned about romanticism, realism, transcendentalism, etc. but never really related them to our writing. Most of the writing we did was simply based upon our own opinions. We hardly ever used secondary sources. I believe that deconstructionist theory was the most helpful theory I learned this year for analyzing literature. Breaking a poem up line by line or image by image or even a story into small sections made it a lot easier to grasp the main concepts of the work. Most of the time during this semester, however, I took a formalist point of view.
College is something that many high school students anticipate; A new transition between two very similar yet diverse worlds. This transition can be something very exciting but also very nerve raking and difficult. Students, Ready to leave behind high school, being researching to find the most prestigious schools and programs available, soon forgetting to remember that although the two, high school and college have their similarities such as doing classwork, and homework the differences are endless.
As a senior in high school, I have a lot of advice on how to survive high school that would benefit incoming freshman. The first piece of advice I have to offer is to figure out what is most important to you. If you want to be a star athlete, push yourself every day in the gym to be that much better than you were before; others might want to be a doctor so they spend a lot of extra time in the classroom getting all the help they can get. No matter what path you choose, figuring out the person you want to be after high school is the first step to surviving high school. The second piece of advice that I recommend, possibly the biggest one, is to walk on the right side of the hallway. Nothing bothers upperclassman more than students that walk
Young adolescents can be described as ages 10-15 years old, but it is also considered that adolescence continues until the age of 25. During this time in an adolescent’s life there are many internal and external factors that affect the development of each individual. The influence that an adolescent’s peers, parents, and community have on them can be conflicting and therefore cause stress. Trying to meet the expectations of others during a time where one is going through so many forms of physical, psychological, and cognitive development can be trying for a middle school aged student. They are expected to focus on their education and the expectation of other outside influences while their bodies are growing and developing into an adult body. When development happens differently for these kids it can affect their psychological development if they focus too much on how fast, or slow they are developing in comparison to their peers. Some adolescents may let their peers influence their behaviors creating a problem with how they interact with others, or how they view themselves as a person. The middle school is a place where students are guided through these developmental experiences with the help of their peers, teachers, administrators, parents and community.
Adolescence, according to Hall (1916), is a period that begins at puberty for about 12 to 13 years, and it ends late at 22 years to 25 years of age. He also describes this period as a period of "sturm und drung" which means "storm and stress". The period of sturm und drung in German literature includes the masterpiece of schiller and the writings of Goethe. This literary movement is full of idealism, expression of personal feelings, enthusiasm and distress.
Second semester can be harsh sometimes. Stressing myself for so many things coming my way and I must find a method to try to get everything well and done. Being a student can be rough for me and as I reflect back to first semester I do realize that I got to keep my head up and improve all my weakness and retouch my strengths to make them stronger. I learned that I am a good student but putting more effort in where I need more effort will make me greater.
School plays an important role in our lives. Many people will spend more than fifteen years at school in order to get the qualifications that are required to work in a specific field. Those years are broken down into several levels, some of them being more enjoyable than others. Two very important levels that people go through are high school and college. Even though some think that these levels are almost the same, there are significant differences between them. The cost of high school is not the same as the cost of college. Also, some differences apply from an academic point of view. Typically, the social environment also differs from high school to college, which can be related to the question of freedom versus responsibility.
