There are a lot of synonyms for the word best friend. Some of the many include soulmate, companion, ride-or-die, sister/brother, husband/wife, and that does not even begin to cover it. The term is so broad with a vague definition, but has a strong meaning to almost everyone. Most people that are asked have someone they consider to be their best friend in some form, either a friend or a spouse. Often times these two people have gone through so much with each other, the good and the bad. These people are so important to everyday life because they help to reach important needs, they help people to discover themselves, and they help to maintain healthy aging. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a theory that includes a five level pyramid of basic human …show more content…
Maslow says that being loved and appreciated as a partner, family member, and as a part of a group are needs that people have and is important that this need is met. Love and the feeling of belonging are basic psychological needs that a best friend can help a person reach. They can be met through means off helping one another with personal issues or finding things to bond over, such as volunteer work or reading the same books. If these needs are not met a person will most likely not develop correctly psychologically. Issues from not developing correctly might cause mental and physical health problems. An example of these issues would be someone who looks for love in the wrong places. When a person begins looking for love in the wrong places it could create a cycle that last months, years, or even a lifetime. In the second interview I conducted she said a best friend is someone who accepts you as you are. A best friend should love and care for you to help you reach this psychological need and there are so many ways this can be done as mentioned previously. Erikson’s psychosocial theory is an eight stage theory on human psychological development. Erikson broke this theory of eight stages into groups by age. They are labeled as crisis stages and a person cannot move on from one stage to the next stage until the crisis is
Why is it important that we be financially healthy? Does it matter if we choose our wants over our needs? Well in fact it does when one spends more than what their income can afford. One sometimes chooses their wants over their needs. The finance choices of wants and needs are effected in a capitalistic society, which also effects our active roles and behavior. We are persuaded in ways through marketing 's of businesses, sports, and supply and demands. These types of marketing has people buy their products, and in the long run have them in debt. A capitalistic society’s motives and research of demography, are ways to determine what the consumer like. Survival ties in with the ideologies, Johari Window and Maslow 's Hierarchy of Needs, which
Eric Erikson was one of the most famous theorists of the twentieth century; he created many theories. One of the most talked about theories is his theory of psychosocial development. This is a theory that describes stages in which an individual should pass as they are going through life. His theory includes nine stages all together. The original theory only included eight stages but Erikson‘s wife found a ninth stage and published it after his death. The nine stages include: trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. identity confusion, intimacy vs. isolation, generativity vs. stagnation, integrity vs. despair, and hope and faith vs. despair (Crandell and Crandell, p.35-36)).
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology that was constructed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper ‘A Theory of Human Motivation.’ This theory states the needs that Maslow believed motivated humans since birth, with the lowest level of needs at the bottom and the need for self-actualization at the top. The purpose of this paper is to take Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and use it to analyze the life of a character Achilles, from the movie Troy. His hierarchy contains five different levels. The first four are the basic needs, which motivate you into action.
After reviewing the above philosophy it is apparent that a mixed approach, with many aspects of the Authoritarian approach, best describes the grouping of theories that suits the philosophy. This is apparent as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a Humanistic approach where as setting clear expectations suits the Authoritarian approach (McDonald, 2013). The above philosophy does not fit one end of the spectrum rather it incorporates many aspects of different theories and fits in the middle of the spectrum (McDonald, 2013).
Maslow’s hierarchy theory was developed in the year 1943-1954.In this theory, human needs are classified into five groups. In the classification, it starts from the bottom going upwards in a hierarchical order. We have physiological needs, safety needs, love/belonging, self-esteem and also self-actualization. The theory is based on the fact that in the workplace, employees and all the people working there are motivated to do their job due to the desire of satisfying their set of internal need, that is once the employee's domestic needs are met then they are motivated to work. This need operates in conjunction with their primary principle. First, we have the principle that human beings have got needs which
Erikson‘s psychosocial theory expands off of Freud’s Psychosexual Theory. Instead of ending at adolescence, Erikson focused on all the stages of life and development. His theory emphasizes development affected by age as well as societal demands on the person. He had various stages that a person will go through throughout their life.
We all need a loyal best friend to comfort us in the important moments. No matter who you are, there will always be a time when you need someone to be there for you. There are many times that people face adversity such as job loss, death of family, or even a break up. It is comforting to have someone who knows
Preview Statement: I will discuss about the background information of Maslow’s Theory, and describe in detail of the five levels of the Hierarchy of Needs.
Friendship is something we 've all experienced. And, from the wise words of Dr. Seuss, "be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind." The ability to care without judgement is a magnificent quality seeing as we all know some best friends can take “be who you are” and “say what you feel” to a whole other level. These are the friends who care, who encourage, who force you to put yourself out there. The ones who make you eat your green eggs and ham (even when you don’t want to). We all need someone like this in our lives. Someone who is there for you no matter what, and Oh the Places You’ll Go with a pal like that. What makes a best friend such a crucial person in your life? Or, where
Begin by describing the cultural context that will serve as the focus of your project. What is the historical relevance of the context? How did the current culturally accepted forms of consumption behavior become established over time (if available)? Or, if the trend you are focusing on is more recent, describe how it has evolved over the past five (5) years. You will be expected to pull quantitative research to support your insights.
Abraham Maslow did studies of the basic needs of human beings. He put these needs into a hierarchical order. This means that until the need before it has been satisfied, the following need can not be met (Encyclopedia, 2000). For example, if someone is hungry they are not thinking too much about socializing. In the order from lowest to highest the needs are psychological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization. The first three are classified as lower order needs and the last two are higher order (Hierarchy, 2000). Without meeting these needs workers are not going to be as productive as they could otherwise. The first three are considered to be essential to all humans at all times. The last two have been argued but are mostly considered to be very important as well.
A best friend understands that you both have flaws and grows with you to embrace them.
A best friend is someone that we could trust our life with. The best friend is just one person among all other friends that has all qualifications of a 'friend' over any other one. A best friend will never leave our side and will always have our back through thick and thin. This friend is as close as they can be without actually being blood family. Throughout life we will go through many friends but a best friend is one that will always be there...
Best friend is often referred to as the person who is always there for you no matter what. Having a bad day you can call your best friend and most likely they will be the person who will cheer you up. Often we take for granted what a true friend is and sometimes there are troubles in the relationship that lead to a break up in the friendship. I lost a very dear friend in my lifetime, and I realized what it truly means to have a best friend when that person walked away from me.
