Throughout the past five months, I have not only learned about various career fields and how to apply for a job, I learned more about myself. The numerous surveys we took helped me to understand my personality. I realized what paths seemed interesting. Looking for colleges became less of a wild hunt and more like a sophisticated search. I am not saying I know exactly where my life will go, but now I at least have an idea. Everyone has a complex personality. There are so many components that go into a person’s personality, so I am happy I took assessments to help distinguish my own values. I mostly agree with the results and outcomes that I received. In the 16 personality Types quiz, I found I am a Defender. Defenders tend to be more sensative …show more content…
Pediatrician diagnose and treat children with illnesses, and moniter kids growth and development. They can work anywhere from forty to eighty hour weeks, and sometimes come to the hospital as early as five or six in the morning. Doctors can work in private practice, in groups, or at a hospital. They can prescribe and order medicine and advise parents about the best care for their child. Some pediatrician specialize in a certain field of medicine, like neonatal or neurology. Advantages of being a pediatrician are helping children feel better, doctors are always needed, and a high salary. Disadvantages include the many years of schooling after high school and knowing that some patients will not make it. I choose this career as my dream occupation because it fits my interests. Since I was little, I always said I would become a doctor. Now, with my love for science, analyzing data, figuring out a problem, being with kids, and helping others, a pediatrician seems like the job that fits all my characteristics. The average salary for a general pediatician in the United States rests at $170,00 and $183,030 in Indiana. The national outlook for this occupation is expected to increase seven and a half percent by 2024. I think I would be a ideal canidate for a pediatrician because of my ability to memorize conditions and carry out what needs to be done. I also do not mind the sight of blood, think anatomy is very interesting, and love playing with
This was also referred to as The Advocate which I thought was very appropriate for our assingment. The results state that The Advocate has a strong sense of morality, likes finding solutions for others and one of the strengths listed was that this personality type makes excellent counselors. This type is known for seeing through manipulation and dishonesty and getting to the heart of matters with truth and sincerity. I can see that all of these personality traits are crucial for helping others and dealing with the conflict that arises when advocating for those who are oppressed and face discrimination. Some of the weaknesses stated for this personality type are perfectionist, impatient, extremely private, sensitive, and burn out easily. As I read the weaknesses, I realized that I need to keep self care a priority throughout my education and future career. It also makes sense that a lot of my self care practices are about introspection and finding balance. I think that this assessment was very accurate of my personality and I enjoyed reading about The Advocate personality
The questions were very thought out and not too broad which was an intelligent idea because if you want to achieve specific answers in a personality assessment, there needs to be specific questions. I read a book about the Big Five before this assignment was assigned so while I was taking the test I could partially tell which questions corresponded to which division of the Big Five. Nevertheless, that did not have an impact on how truthful my responses were. If I were to take the test again I do believe that I would get a similar score because I answered honestly and the answers I chose were the ones that represented me the best. I assume that the test would produce results for diverse groups of people as long as the information about gender, age and country were answered correctly. I thought that having a test that compares similar types of people to each other was a brilliant idea for the reason that it could have been too generic if
The Bell Smith Personality Assessment was accurate in reflecting my personality. I have taken several personality tests because I know developing strong interpersonal skills enhances personal growth and development. Each test has delivered similar results demonstrating my willingness to work with others, need for organization, focus on emotional content, and search for additional information. According to the Bell Smith assessment, I fall into the categories of member, planner, juggler, empathizer, and researcher. I would challenge the assessment with defining me a planner because I incorporate the juggler traits into my daily activities. Overall, the assessment was not surprising and I would like to continue taking different personality tests to see diverges from previous results.
What kind of career is Massage Therapy? A very interesting and productive career which I would enjoy pursuing. Some reasons that this would be a good career for me are that it pays well, education is not extensive, it helps others, and it is something I am good at and enjoy doing.
It took me a little while to think on some of the questions because I had to think about what the true answer was and not just how I wanted to view myself. I’d say most of the results are accurate except for competition and significance. They do not describe my personality because I’m a pretty laid back person and I do not like to measure myself according to other achievements because it would drive me crazy to live my life that way. I’m the type of person that doesn’t care about what other people think about me unless it is my close family and friends. On the other hand discipline was very accurate. I’m the type of person that will get things done because I control that part of my life. I need to be in control of most things in my life or it is too unpredictable and that scares
What is a pediatrician? Pediatricians are doctors who specialize and focus in caring for babies to young adults (Career Cruising). They deal with childhood diseases and the care of infants with health and sickness (Elberts). The typical upper age limit of patients is from age twelve to age twenty-one (NetMed Pediatrics). They have to treat their patients as if he or she were going to change the world. Pediatricians complete many tasks in a day’s time. They perform physical exams and order tests that will diagnose diseases and injuries that have occurred. They advise surgery and medications and may also help patients through puberty and family problems (Career Cruising). It is their responsibility to make sure the patients are not only healthy, but also safe and happy. Some pediatricians communicate with social workers, family members, and health care workers to understand the entire situation as best as they can (Career Cruising). If the patient seems to have more personal problems, pediatricians have the opportunity to send them to other doctors like a psychiatrist for treatment. Others work as advocates by educating the community about car safety and the benefits from school breakfast (Career Cruising).
Pediatric nurses have plenty of daily responsibilities as well such as reading reports, educating the parents or guardians, and performing routine exams (RntoBsn). Pediatric nurses are able to draw blood, perform urine and blood tests, run diagnosis, or administer medicine to the child. There
The occupation I would like to have in the future is to be a Psychologist. A Psychologist is a person that studies the mental processes and behavior of the human mind. They are licensed to see and treat patients, treating them with therapy or mental and behavior issues the patients might have. A Psychologist cannot give the patient's medication because they don’t have a medical degree, Psychiatrists can give medication because they do get medical degrees. Psychologists can be a licensed Psychologist with a degree level of bachelor's, masters or Ph.D.’s.
Another good aspect of this job is that they only focus on the health of children, rather than all of the age groups. An adult and a child are so different, they are nearly two different species. If a child is brought to a doctor who specializes in all age groups, the child would not be getting the same kind of attention that he or she would be getting, compared to that from a doctor who specializes only in children. Doctors that specialize in all age groups are used to make quick, rough, and fundamental actions needed for the healing of the patient. One does not simply treat a child the same way an adult would be treated.
In the future, I hope to pursue my career dream of becoming a pediatrician. Pediatricians can be identified individuals who specialize in giving medical care to children and adolescents between infancy to adulthood at eighteen years of age. I became inspired to become a pediatrician due to my immense love of children. Perhaps I have an innate intuition for taking care of people being that I have always felt that I excel at taking care of others. The idea of taking care of others truly makes me feel that I serve a purpose, not only to better the life of myself but the life of others. Therefore, I believe that becoming a pediatrician will help me combine the best of both worlds into a career that I adore and cherish.
Pediatricians specialize in working with children from young, all the way to 21 years. This profession allows you to work in a hospital, clinics, private practices, etc. I would still like to know more about how their daily work days look, and how stressful the job can get. I want a job that I will love, but I do not want it to consume my life at the same
In this essay/report I will explain to the best of my abilities, my possible career path. I have wanted to be many things. In grade 1, I wanted to be a superhero, and that hope stayed out for a while. Later on, when I was 10, my brain started getting new ideas, exploring the world around me, thinking of other things aside form cartoons and I thought to myself, how in the world am I going to become a superhero? I started thinking of other jobs like firefighter, police officer, engineer, construction worker etc., etc. But then I decided it was no good. Then one day when I was watching an interview on TV, a firefighter was being interviewed and one of the questions was: How long did it take you to decide what you wanted to be? And he said a long time. Then I wondered how long a long time would be, I wanted to jump into the TV and ask the guy how long a long time was. Hmm, I wondered, how long is a long time and then I answered my question. “It’s going to be a long time ‘till it’s a long time, I’ve got nothing to worry about.” That question just flew off my mind until at the start of grade eight when I encountered this question again, and I answered it. It took a while and some research but I answered it. I want to be a Neurosurgeon when I grow up.
