I believe in kindness. I believe that kindness is the golden chain by which society is bound. I believe that kindness is one of the most crucial virtues because it is an important basis in everyday life. I believe that kindness has the power to change lives and moods. I believe I should always hold kindness close to my heart. Throughout my life, I have always been a kind and respectable person. I think of myself as a lover, not a hater, and I always try to avoid controversy whenever it is possible. However, there is one point in my life when I understood that it is not cool to be rude and disrespectful to others. I remember one day in seventh grade I was playing my last volleyball game at my school. During that game, I was playing the right
Kindness can really make a difference in a person's attitude. In “A Christmas Carol”, the Cratchits and Scrooge's nephew Fred show kindness to Scrooge, even though Scrooge showed quite the opposite to them. Or in “Thank you M’am”, when Ms. Jones makes Roger food and gives him money to buy his shoes, instead of reporting him to the police. Even in “Little Things Are Big”, when Jesus decides to help people even if he has to face prejudism. These stories all show turning points, and these examples show
“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see” – Mark Twain.
In conclusion, there are many ways to create a better world of friendliness, and kindness but you need to be able to take that first step. We all need to open our eyes and see the greatness in each human being. Everyone has something special about them we just have to find it in
The majority of the time this is a simple gesture of respect towards a specific group of people or person, but sometimes it goes too far. Small groups of very vocal people have created a toxic new meaning for the word political correctness. This has tainted the word for many people who would like to be respectful. The simple words new meaning is less associated with showing respect or kindness and is now more related to an extreme group of people who believe anything hurtful is politically incorrect. This continuous campaign for censorship of speech could transfer over to the physical realm with people demanding no one be faster or stronger than anyone else. If no one was better than anyone else, this world would be very boring, restrictive, and terrible place to live, but it would never come to that,
From Greek origins, storge can be defined as a natural affection between family, friends, and the community. This innate bond allows for understanding, compassion, and attachment between people. This concept of storge can be seen in Miriam Toews’ A Complicated Kindness, as the teenage protagonist, Nomi Nickel, undertakes the responsibility of restoring her family and friend’s happiness and hopefulness through small acts of kindness. Ultimately, the force of storge influences Nomi and her family to rekindle the happiness of the citizens in the Mennonite community, which suggests the transition of the citizens’ characters from static to dynamic.
The virtue of kindness is not meek it is not niceness. Kindness holds firm to its foundation and values, but it does it in a way that is gentle. Kindness is not naïve, it is wise and discerning (Corey, 211). People confuse being nice as kindness because on the outside both are soft. The inside is what shows the difference. Niceness has no substance, it will go wherever society takes it. Kindness is different, it has a firm, solid center (Corey xv). The components of soft edges and firm centers make kindness warm and inviting and yet it remains deeply rooted to its core beliefs.
It is evident in The Virgin Suicides and A Complicated Kindness that the restrictions religion puts in place cause the youth of each text to rebel against the religious system. In A Complicated Kindness, it is made clear from the beginning that there is a “ban on the media, dancing, smoking , temperate climates, movies, drinking, rock ‘n’ roll, having sex for fun, swimming, makeup, jewellery, playing pool, going to cities, or staying up past nine o’ clock” (page). These strict beliefs and rules lead Nomi to rebel. For example, Nomi takes up smoking and drinking, and has pre marital sex with her boyfriend Travis. Additionally, Nomi wears a bonnet for the Mennonite church service, but later burns it with her cigarette.
When humans perform an act of kindness, what is really their intention in doing so? Is it perhaps to help someone, to fit in, or feel accepted or is it just a step in achieving their goal of receiving their homework, their money or maybe something valuable that they found to be jealous of? From the past to the present, human nature has always been corrupted. In our everyday life we see people getting murdered, assaulted, and cheated. In the past, Kings were dominant figures, they ruled worth power so they can maintain their position. As time passes from period to period we are still facing the same corruption in our society because people only serve to their benefit and their own status. Human being were never born good, but innocent through lack of knowledge and experience and the world. But corruption can overwhelm the child as it grows up because of the negative influence it would have among society. In discussion to human nature, one controversial issue has even whether humans are naturally inclined towards good or evil. On one hand
The act of kindness comes by very seldom. “Being kind and generous to people will take you very far in life” is what my great grandmother always told me. Smiling from ear to ear, eyes gazing across the room and that special touch are all it took for her to make someone day. Many days were made if you were surrounded by her and saw that big, bright, and beautiful smile. Soft hands are what she had from giving her entire life. No one went without, you could be a total stranger but she would give you her last.
We performed a random act of kindness at the Aurora fire station. Brittney, one of the members, suggested that it was a really good idea. She got the idea because she watches the show “Chicago Fires.”Our whole group agreed because we think that firefighters don’t get recognized as much for their work as much as police officers do. Also, many firefighters are strong and brave so we thought that it was a really amazing idea.
The Power of Kindness Kindness can be helpful in life and can make people very pleased. One can show it in many different ways. For instance, random acts of kindness may make a person’s day. Kindness has the power to make positive effects on lives.
It's not about giving people things, but more so about one’s daily gestures and what one says to everyone each day. Being kind might be tough at times but in the end avoiding a rude comment is much better than saying one. There are so many ways to show others that being kind is important so don’t be afraid to try some out. Looking into it further, if everyone in the world was kind, we could avoid conflicts from small fights on the streets to world wars because everyone would be able to communicate and compromise with one another in a civilized
I believe in service. When you think of service, what thoughts pop into your mind? I think of doing yard work for someone else and delivering a meal to those in need. I think of helping others and being kind. I think of acts done in love. I feel that the importance of service is greatly understated in today's society, especially as the need for it grows and grows.
Everyone should regularly perform small acts of kindness because kindness spreads, has an extraordinary impact, and is scientifically proven to help the health and happiness of people who act kindly
Kindness is the key to most everything. Being kind means taking the high road, even when someone has wronged you. It means serving other people, even under inconvenient circumstances. It involves looking for the good in others, and even helping them to see the good in themselves. Kindness is spreading happiness to make other’s day better and by making them smile. Kindness is defending those who are picked on by others, sitting by those who are lonely, and saying hi to someone in the hall. Kindness is being someone who wants to build up those around them.
