Opening an acceptance letter from BYU-Hawaii was a monumental moment in my life as it fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine. One of the many aspects of the university that appealed to me was the amount of diversity on campus, with having students from over 70 countries. Due to moving around frequently throughout my childhood, I have gained a love for meeting new people, especially those that have varying backgrounds and cultures from me. I have a passion for learning people’s stories and what drives them in life. Attending a campus on the mainland, I would miss out on the phenomenal opportunity to connect and grow with students from around the world. Rather than only learning from a classroom, I will be able to learn and prosper from real experience. My education would be magnified through the culturally rich student body. In addition, having traveled to Hawaii before, I have always left with an uplifted spirit and at more peace. I am more than ready to begin my voyage in life at BYU-Hawaii. I would use my major in business to establish a photography business, and a minor in photography/video would allow me to expand my expertise in the field. A business degree will help me prepare for my entrepreneurial plan. Capturing moments through photography allows me to use my creativity to envision and create unique pictures. Whereas a minor in psychology would compliment my career path because it would strengthen my ability to connect and understand people. I took a psychology course my first semester of senior year and it absolutely captivated me! I find it enthralling to learn how people think, feel, and why they do what they do. With a good understanding in both my minors I will be able to capture the world and people around me through
They provide a myriad of different minors that all students can participate in. The minor I desire to learn at The University of Pennsylvania is Psychology. Psychology is something I am passionate to learn more about so that I may not only help physical injuries but also mental ones as well.

This essay will be arguing that colleges and universities should promote more efforts to diversify and create equal representation of all students. Attending higher education institution for minorities has been an uneasy struggle and one that few minorities accomplish. The dilemma of African American enrollment for example, in a college lecture hall at Texas A&M containing 250 seats, only a maximum 4 out of 250 seats will contain African American students. Unfortunately, many institutions are similar to Texas A&M University, they have an underrepresentation of minorities their on campus in relationship to white students. The lack of diversity keeps stigmas associated with racism relevant and disregards the demographic representation of minorities in America disabling students from identifying with different cultures. There’s evidence from scholars such as Elizabeth Smith and Emilia Plonska, students and instructors that validate in order to promote unity and knowledge of all cultures institutions must promote integration of minorities and increase attendance. Many minorities fail to complete their journeys in higher education which results in unequal representation, segregated environments and unprivileged minorities receiving the benefits of a quality post-secondary education offered at prestige Universities like Texas A&M and UCLA

The career that I decided to pursue when I came to college is Clinical psychology. The reason why I decided on majoring in Psychology is because I took an AP Psychology course during my junior year of high school and the Teacher I had made me love Psychology. The reason why I enjoy Psychology so much is because it expands the mind to so many different things like why people have certain behaviors and teaches you the real difference between Nature and Nurture. When I first thought of what I wanted to do with my life after college, the first thing I thought of was helping people. The next step in deciding what I wanted to do with my life was to exam how I could accomplish this goal. I started pondering and I was thinking about how much I love to take care of my body. Health care and personal hygiene has always been an important factor in my life. So I decided to major in Health Science. With this major, I will be able to further my education in ways to be healthy and possibly learn how to help others. I decided that being a health physician or nutritionist was something that I was really interested in. This is where communication studies came in. I figured that if I minor in communication studies, I could improve my oral and written communication to better help in my future of nutrition.
