We live in a world that can’t live without binary code anymore. Computers have pervaded so deep in our lives that they are now being called ubiquitous. With phenomenal increase in users, has come a phenomenal increase in data. We generate a vast amount of data through activities on our computing devices making it necessary to employ intelligent algorithms which enable the system to learn from and analyze this vast dataset. Fortunately, the advent of Distributed Computing has created avenues to access virtually limitless computing power even through mobile devices thus, allowing us to use highly complex and large scale algorithms. However, with all this power under the hood, it is important to make the computers as usable and receptive to users as possible. I believe this interdisciplinary paradigm will have far reaching impact on industries, governments as well as our daily lives which is why I am so interested in research concerning Information Management and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Interaction, and Mobile and Internet Computing. In today’s world where several different domains of technology must imbricate to pacify the rapid pace of development, it is necessary to take a multifaceted approach to learning. While Electrical Engineering major courses like Microprocessors, Embedded Controllers and Digital Electronics have exposed me to computing and data storage at the lowest level, chosen Computer Science courses like Computer Systems and Programming, Data Structures and MOOCs like Algorithms, Machine Learning and Software-as-a-Service have equipped me with the latest knowledge and ideas to capitalize on the digital systems as efficiently as possible. Two initial advanced courses in Mathematics have stre... ... middle of paper ... ...re at Stanford are not only brilliant and directly correlate with my career plans but they also cater to the real world needs. Not to mention the potential for inter-disciplinary studies and the prestige of the university, I think a Masters from Stanford University will be best possible I am confident and enthusiastic about my proposed interest areas and I believe I have the necessary skills and competence to become an asset to Stanford University. With my ability to self-learn, persevere and work hard, I am sure that I can face the university’s highly challenging environment. I am aware that to excel in the program, I would have to meet the high standards set by the university. I am confident that I can foster a symbiotic relationship with the university and its students. With this, I humbly ask for the golden opportunity to be admitted to Stanford University.

In terms of teaching, our undergraduate and graduate curriculum provides a timely and well-rounded view of the field, with special emphasis on the practical aspects of building useful software. Our strengths lie in the traditional mainstream of areas of computer science: algorithms, programming languages, operating systems, distributed computing, networks, databases and theory of computing. We also offer courses in some subfields: graphics, artificial intelligence and the software aspects of computer architecture. The department's programs prepare students for positions in the design and development of computer systems and applications, in business and industry, and for scientific positions in industrial or academic computing research.
I have always been interested and intrigued by computers, ever since using a BBC when I was very young. Since then I have become fluent in writing BASIC and more recently I have learnt HTML, the language of the World Wide Web on which I have my own wesite. I use computers for most of my exam coursework such as Solving Equations Using Numerical Methods for Pure Maths 2 and also for recreation.
The computing industry as a whole becomes more prosperous, exciting and attractive as an employment prospect each day. It spans a wide range of modern applications, as does my interest in the subject. I see computing science as a gateway into new realms of computing, where the highly challenging and demanding work may reap rewards of an equivalent level.
After my twelfth grade, the inherent ardor I held for Computer Sciencemotivated me to do a bachelors degree in Information Technology. Programming and Math, a paragon of logic and reasoning have always been my favorite subjects since childhood. I still vividly remember the time during my graduation, when I was successful in creating a simple calculator application as a class assignment. The joy I derived from creating something that is used by a lot of people to help them perform complex calculations, made me realize the power of computing in its true sense. It was also in my graduation that I developed an immense interest in programming languages such as Java, C++ an...
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s video announcement that city schools were starting a new program that will bring computer science education to all students is late. America is dragging where it should be exceling. Less than 10 percent of the city’s schools offer computer science education and only one percent receive that education. New Yorkers should still applaud their mayor for taking on this monumental task that states should have addressed years before this announcement because New York City isn’t alone in this failure, only one in four U.S. middle and high school principals report offering any computer science education in their schools.
I feel that graduate study at your university will give me credentials to secure challenging assignments and ability to meet the demands of those assignments.
I would like to sincerely thank you for your consideration of my application during the regular decision round, and your continued interest. What first drew me to Tufts University was the renowned academics and bountiful research opportunities. However, upon visiting campus, I realized there is much more to Tufts than what was evident in my research; more so than any of the other colleges I visited, Tufts University champions diversity and self-exploration.
I am fully aware that yours curriculum requires that I summon all my resources and I aver that I have the necessary commitment, intelligence and stamina to look forward to do it all. The computer science field is one of the fastest advancing technological fields in today’s day and age, with new discoveries and research happening on a daily basis. Computers and their applications are in constant flux, as we create more efficient ways to profess electronic information. With a field changing so rapidly, we must remember and continue to study the roots these advancements if we are to understand all of the new material being produced. Although we focus on the western computer scientists, we sometimes forget the contributions that come from the East, specifically from Africa. Historically there have been many computer scientists from Africa that have contributed to the advancement of the computer science field. Thus far we have neglected to appreciate or acknowledge their contributions, even though we could not be at our current state without them. All discoveries in the computer science field build upon a previous discovery, and for this reason, to neglect past contribution or advancements, is to neglect the future. This is why we must change our focus and recognize the major advancements, such as the Niagara, or the Logo projects; both of which would not have been possible without the influence of African Computer Scientists. Africa has made key contributions to the computer science field through its work on the Niagara project, the Logo Computer Systems Inc, The Connection Machine, The South African Computer Science Network, and ________.
