Generation Z is determined to change the future and is at an advantage over all previous generations to do so. This group is those born between the years 1995 and 2012, whom are currently ages 4 to 21. Statistics show Gen Z is extremely mature for their age with the lowest levels of drug use, alcohol consumption, smoking, and teenage pregnancy in decades, as stated by JWTIntelligence. This demonstrates that they are future orientated. Generation Z is unified, diverse, realistic, and technologically advanced, making them the generation with the power to impact the world. It is a known fact that a unified group is much more successful than one that is divided. Generation Z is the most open minded and diverse generation history has seen so far. Individuals are more accepted for who they are and differences are celebrated instead of criticized. Of 1,000 respondents to a survey done by J. Walter Thompson Intelligence, 82% stated they didn’t care about sexual orientation and 67% had a friend of a different sexual orientation. Furthermore, racial diversity is much more apparent today. According to the United States Census Bureau, “Between 2000 and 2010, Texas joined California, the District of Columbia, Hawaii and New Mexico in having a "majority-minority" population, where more than 50 percent of the population was part of a minority group.” …show more content…
Gen Z makes up a society in which people are more accepting, and a person is judged more for their character and integrity than their sexual preferences or the color of their skin. Further, they have seen and can learn from the mistakes of past generations to reconstruct the future. Lastly, they have been provided the tools to solve the world’s biggest problems. Because they have this capability to impact the world, it is each member of Generation Z’s responsibility to use these advantages to provide a future worthy of generations to
Brooks wrote this article to inform the new generation not to buy into the hype of the “baby boomers.” He uses a compare and contrast type of approach with contrasting explanations of people’s expectations versus reality. The author wants to convey a feeling of awareness, which almost feels foreboding. The intended audience is young American college students or those about to enter college. It's intent to them is to inform them of the dangers that follow graduation where expectations are concerned. This audience is comprised of both male and female readers of all races and
According to Maslowsky (2013), an effective marketing strategy for Generation Z was a high priority based on its competitive nature and short window of influence. Moreover, companies and organizations of all sizes are taking notice to this class of individuals. Recently, the Chief Operating Officer of Snapchat, the latest social media phenomenon, Emily White shared that the habits and characteristics of Generation Z, were considered to be the most influential people in current times that grew up with the internet (Glum, 2015). This research study will provide community college administrators with a prospective on how to market directly to Generation Z while focused on both their wants and needs in higher
Members of the Y Generation include those born between the years 1982 and 1994. A generation is known as a group of people born in a particular period who would have experienced similar events or experiences while growing up. There are often negative connotations made against members of the Y Generation, as they are known for being spoilt, overly confident and too dependent on social media and technology. They are the first generation to have grown up with high-definition television, mobile phones, internet and social media. Generation Y are possibly more interested in the environment, caring and community orientated than previous generations. The majority of this generation is now in young adulthood and starting their careers. They make up most of the young singles and couples market and are a very critical group of consumers. Many of the claims made about Generation Y are based on little evidence and contradictory, this report seeks to examine these claims.
These generations of young people are the future, not only of the United States of America but also of the world. Young people will bring change and will hopefully make the world a better place. However, they cannot make the future a brighter place if they are disheartened at a young age from trying to achieve the impossible. It is society’s responsibilities to make the future better and for humanity to move forward and this cannot happen if all the millennials and those belonging to Generation Z are pessimistic because they were not able to achieve their own dream due to the circumstances in America. In order for everyone to have a bright future to look forward to the youth of today needs to have the opportunities to achieve their

For our fourth class we went to Generation Farms in Cedar, they run multiple programs, but the one we learned mostly about is their equine facilitated wellness for youth. Generation Farms employs two child and youth care workers on staff who continuously related the program to what we have been learning over the course of our degree.
We all know technology has taken over us without even noticing it. Although technology has changed throughout these years, it has had its good perks in many reasons such as making our lives easier with just one single click. However, because of this, it has lacked us from actually doing some research or actually trying to educate ourselves mentally and physically. In the sources below, we will notice how technology has had somewhat of an affect on why we might be the ¨dumbest generation¨ as questioned. Each source is being said in the authors own perspective and what they think lead to us being the dumbest generation.
The hottest topic of conversation between two generations is superiority. The Generation X argues that Generation Y is getting everything in their plate without having to work for it. The millenials counter that by saying that technological know how is the need of the day and nobody survives bereft of that. This is what the older generations lacks and finds it difficult to cope with the times. Hence the millenials consider themselves better. But is this argument really valid? Are the criteria used equally applicable? After the interview with my friend and my uncle, I decided that my friend has a better opinion about the generational differences.
My generation has been handed a lot of issues to hopefully be solved by my generation. The government has a national debt and unsustainable welfare programs. Programs that are well-meaning but cannot be financed by my generation. Changes will have to come through inventive minds of my generation. Also currently there are very few job opportunities for my generation. Many college graduates cannot get jobs. College cost are at an all time high, many of my generation wonder if it is worth the cost or is it even a possibility. The American dream of a college education, a good job, nice home, and car are seeming more and more unattainable to my generation.
There is a generation that is 80 million strong who is the start of a new millennium. The people of this generation are called the Millennials. Many think of them as closeminded, faulty and not fit to run the major cooperation’s of the world someday, yet the true identities of this group are just starting to be revealed. Millennials can easily and thoroughly understand the new advances in technologies. They are also the most diverse and open minded generation yet. They show a lot of potential and could someday change the world for the better. A writer for Time magazine, Joel Stein, does a wonderful job describing the millennials for who they truly are in his article “The New Greatest Generation.” While Stein agrees with Twenge in that millennials show faults, he maintains that their faults have potential to make them the next greatest generation. Despite the negative connotations millennials receive, they often have the ability to be resourceful with the technology, open-minded to the diversities the world displays and have a lot of potential.
This report will investigate and recommend what millennials want and how they work, think and play. It will also discuss how millennials balance work and life and how they think.
Millennials range from 1980 to 1994 while Generation Z was born 1995 or after. Millennials are known as feeling entitled and lacking initiative while Generation Z is known for being global, social, and technological. Considering my personal experiences, I relate more to the Generation Z than the Millennials.
Growing up in Africa as a millennial wasn’t easy. Over their dreams are like fairy tales something imaginal. I was stuck living a gen x live a live that is not main, people tell me what to do all the time. The poverty, poor economy, and the lack of education all played a big roll to evolve a millennial like me into a Gen X. every time I tried to do something new a wall of judgement stops me from it. I felt like I had been dragged down into the “save zone” as many old people called it. Many old people believe that millennials are lazy, stupid, undependable and can’t focus because they don’t know what is best for them. However, how anyone will know what is best for him/her without trying it first. I don’t want to be
This generation was born between the 1990s and 2015. Generation Z is more technologically inclined. This could be viewed as a negative aspect, but it also gives Generation Z the advantage of being able to communicate with people from all over with the connect that social media provides. This will aid Generation Z to become good business owners, travelers or the multitude of opportunities that require people to communicate with those who may be from the opposite side of the Earth. Generation Z is also more realistic, they are not as naïve to the real world as Generation Y. Growing up around terrorism and major economic recessions could serve as a probable cause. A major difference between Generation Z and Generation Y is that Generation Z is immensely more driven to make change and be superior to their elders. They enjoy learning, but they also want to teach themselves material. It is generalized that Generation Z is reckless and wild, considering they have changed the ideas of dating and made many “loving” relationships revolve around the aspect of lust. This could be due to Generation X and Y’s issue with staying together, leaving the United States with a 50% divorce rate. Many Generation Z child come from broken homes leaving them with the problems of trusting a significant other and staying together. Generation Z is a more ethnically diverse generation than others; most of the people are mixed with
Likewise, modern technology has brought large gaps between the Generation X and Generation Z. My parents and I do not always agree because we see technology differently. For instance, I have noticed that whenever my parents watch TV, they watch the news rather than watching their favorite shows as they do not record any shows nor watch them on Netflix. I am more familiar with the technology that lets me watch shows when I want to, while my parents are hesitant to give it a try. In addition, my dad has a hard time using PowerPoint presentations, so he prints out documents as an aid for his business presentations. I think having PowerPoint slides is more effective than documents during presentations. This creates conflicts between us as he is going 50 years back by ignoring the developments of technology. Similarly, I am more involved in social media than my parents. They are only on Facebook, while I am on Facebook,
