Out of all the pillars I would like to think that I exemplify the traits of leadership the best. One reason I believe that I exemplify these traits is because I promote school activities and clubs. Being apart of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), I have been able to encourage some of my fellow classmates to join this organization. In FBLA our main goal is to promote business while learning to be successful and good leaders. Learning to be a good leader has enabled me to be a leader in the classroom, and outside of school. I show this by not dumping all the work of a group project on one person. I help by delegating all the work between the group members, and helping them on the parts they are working on and not just on the part I Not Only am I a role model to my classmates, but I am also a role model to my younger family members. I show this through following the rules of where I am at during the time and teaching them the rules along the way. I am also a role model to them by not giving up on my goals and teaching them about the importance of family and how you should spend quality time with the people you love. The third and last reason I exemplify the traits of leadership is because I lead by example in the community. I show good manners like please and thank you along with opening doors and helping other people. If I see someone that is struggling to carry something or if they drop an item and need help picking it up I do not hesitate to step in and help the person in need. I have observed that a simple smile and a friendly gesture of hello can go a long way when being nice to someone to make their day better in anyway I know how to. These are the reasons why I personally exemplify the traits of someone who shows This is why I lack in the area of the scholarship pillar. For example, my first and biggest issue is that I fail to get my homework done and turned in on its due date. There are many ways to grow and become better at completing and turning in my homework on its due date. For instance, I can make sure all my questions about my homework are answered before leaving school for the day, and then I can do something like setting an alarm on my phone for after school to do my work or I can even start to write in a planner to organize my assignments and other activities. The second thing I can do to improve my academic excellence is by completing any extra credit my teachers may offer to me. By doing these extra credit assignments I would be going above and beyond my teachers requirements for their class. Not only would this improve my grades it would allow me to get a better understanding of what I am doing and give me more practice. The third and final thing I can do to improve my academic excellence is to study and work harder for higher quiz and test scores. One thing I can do to help me study is to ask one of my older siblings to quiz me on the topic and/or chapter. Another thing I can do is make flash cards so I am able to quiz myself when I am unable to get help from another person. Essentially, These flash cards would have vocabulary terms
The role of a leader is often inaccurately defined as an individual who is in a position to give orders. However, there are enormous differences in the attributes of an outstanding leader, and one of mediocrity. An outstanding leader, above all else, is a role model for their peers. In doing so, a leader of the highest caliber is trustworthy in both their peer’s trust for the leader as well as the leader’s trust of their peers. A leader must also display exceptional skill in communication which transcends speaking and, more importantly, includes listening and consideration to the ideas presented to them. Furthermore, a leader must be supportive of and willing to help their peers build their own strengths. The attributes listed above represent only a small subset of what makes an outstanding leader. Yet,
Another example of a time I showed leadership is when I went to the town library to read to children. Doing that made me feel good since some of them were to young to know how to read. Also, it was enjoyable to read to the children because just watching listen to you made me feel responsible and teacher-like. I show good character by helping my sister if she need help with her homework. I sit down with her and explain how to do it or if she doesn’t understand a question I explain what it means. I stop when she says she does not need my help anymore. I also show good character by sticking up for my friends if they need it or want it. My friends are one of the most important things in my life and if they need up I will gladly help them. Another example of myself showing good character is at lunch when people put their lunch trays away most people do it carelessly. So, I try my hardest to make sure the trays are in a neat pile. The lunch ladies have a hard-enough job as it is. So, I do this to make it a little easier. Examples of myself showing citizenship is when I was younger an at the time my mom worked for the Rotary Club
It is the job of a leader to be a role model because people look up to you. Leadership is something I may have to work on a little because I am a shy person, but that doesn’t stop me. Last year, some 6th grade student were going to be selected to give a tour of the school to the 5th graders who were coming to Great Hollow the following year. My teacher was unsure that I would be a good choice because I am quiet in class. But I convinced him to let me be a tour guide and he was impressed with my performance. I was excited and talked to the students about the school and I was happy to be a leader and show the 5th graders what to do. I proved to myself I had
Both inside and outside of school, I make it a personal commitment to be a kind, helpful, and respectful role model to others, and I use those character traits to be a successful leader in my community. Kindness can be hard to come by in today’s age, so I pride myself in being a genuinely nice leader. A prime example of this would be my involvement with my dance school, the D’Arcy School of Irish Dance. While I have only been dancing for three years, I have taken the initiative to be a role model to the younger dancers. As being a Senior dancer, it is my responsibility to portray to other students the way one should act at dance class and performances. Instead of guiding others in a harsh and rather “bossy” manner, I instead choose to lead in a much more effective way. This would be
Finally, leadership is an equally important characteristic I display. As a class officer for the past two years, my job is to guide and encourage the class to participate in projects and events. Even though many were hesitant, I showed leadership and encouraged participation. I also am a possible candidate for an officer position in Student Council. I have been selected for this position based on my strong leadership abilities, such as bringing forth ideas, compromising for projects, and speaking up when others will not.
What makes me a positive role model for the incoming freshmen is that I enjoy having the ability of making a difference in the lives of younger students. I love passing on knowledge and helping others succeed. In addition to this, I would consider myself to be a very determined person, academic wise, I never settle for less and I always strive to be the best that i can be. Overall I am a person who commits to what I set my mind on.
In my life, my grandfather has always been my role model. He valued his beliefs and always abides by his values. My grandfather is a pastor. His leadership position in church gave him many responsibilities. I was never disappointed because he always tried to live an honest life. He was always trustworthy, reliable and responsible not just in church but also for his family. People followed his lead because he was always true to his words; he literally practiced what he preached. Credibility was the basic foundation for my grandfather’s leadership position. His credibleness has helped the church stay
There are many different things I think of when I think of what leadership means to me. My idea of leadership is to be able to inspire others, get them excited to do something, motivate them and set an example to others. I also think that showing respect to others is a key part of leadership. You don’t just need leadership qualities, but you need to be a successful leader. To me being a successful leader is being able to have people follow you and not disrespect you. If you are a great leader your followers start to respect you more. To be a leader you also need to have certain qualities like being sociable, intelligent, have patience to deal with situations. A leader needs to be motivated or they will be a failure. I think I show leader ship all the time inside and outside of school. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (John C. Maxwell).
One of the most important components of leadership is the leader. A leader is responsible for his or her followers and the overall goal of the group or organization. Leaders are the people held accountable or everything that happens, good or bad. On the other hand, the second major component of leadership is the followers. Without followers, a leader would be worthless. Followers make up the backbone of a leader because they are the masses that get goals accomplished. A leader is just one person, but the number of followers is countless. In order to be an effective follower, there are a countless number of characteristics that allow a follower to be the best they can be. Five of these characteristics include a positive attitude, communication skills, being part of the process, being open to new ideas, and patience.
In the Four Framework Approach, Bolman and Deal (1991) explain that the characteristics of a leader are understood through recognition of certain behaviors that comprise four leadership frameworks: Structural, Human Resource, Political, or Symbolic. These four frameworks are understood by good leaders. However, according to the authors, each framework of leadership should be employed based upon the circumstances the leader finds himself in. Depending on the leadership situation, the leader will apply the principles of one of the four frameworks to maximize his leadership strategy.
Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. Being a leader one must maintain an image of being the role model. I believe that this is leader should be who is someone who has the ability to influence, encourage, listen, and nurture. They are able to inspire, stimulate, persuade, shape, and have an effect on others.
“Transformational leaders focus on followers, motivating them to high levels of performance, and in the process, help followers develop their own leadership potential” (Ronald, 2009). There are several key component of the transformational styles: Idealized Influence, Inspirational motivation and Intellectual stimulation. There are more key components but for me the ones that I mentioned are the most important. A leader who idealized influence is the one that serves as an ideal role model for followers, the one who does the right thing and influence his followers. Inspirational motivation
I have learnt that role models lead by example their behaviour, actions values are displayed in the workplace for employees to look up to. Employees look up to role models who constantly display high standards of work performance, inspire, enthuse act as positive role models. Their behaviour is emulated by others a long with their work attitudes, they are strong, committed, people oriented leaders. They give the organisation and the employees clear identity and clear objectives, they will lead by example, be visible, pat of the communication loop, empower employees, delegate effectively, encourage new ideas and innovations, they will establish direction and influence others so that employees work toward the same goals. I can ensure i act as a role model for employees. That i have a positive attitude are enthusiastic and involved, accept responsibility, understand myself my personality style, characteristics, behaviours, learning preferences, understand others, develop my own skills and competencies in communication, active listening, interpersonal, cultural awareness, acceptance of and management of diversity, provide appropriate feedback, and reinforcement to workers, are honest, credible and act ethically. i would not take days off work, have extended lunch breaks, be rude to staff members, leave work early. These things are not part of being a good role model for employees in the workplace.
Another aspect of leadership includes leadership traits such as being influential and inspirational. There also different contexts of leadership, e.g, leading oneself, leading other individuals, leading groups, leading organizations. Some traits that are often associated with being an effective leader include a measure of intelligence, high energy, self confidence, dominance, and a need for achievement. An effective, charismatic leader must lead by example. That leader must be able to know what is going on, the job or task that is being accomplished, and be able to lead the group into performing the task at hand successfully.
We all grow up with different role models. As we age, our role models change but our criteria for choosing one remains the same. When I was growing up my role models ranged from my 2nd grade Math teacher to the celebrity actress/host Ellen DeGeneres. They all are totally different people with lot of distinctive qualities but I have a set of characteristics that make them all the same to me. Choosing a great leader in today’s date is definitely a hard task as all of us know every individual goes through a different personal and different professional life to get to the position of being an excellent leader. My example of a great leader is my current boss. I work at a tutoring center on campus that’s solely for Student athletes & my job is to assist Andrea Hernandez the tutoring coordinator of that program.
