I think stakeholder suffered in a lot of ways. One way that I wanted to talk about was the overstating of the earnings. Toshiba overstated its earning that caused the company to be in debt and that’s not good for the stakeholders because they are basically the owners and investors of the company. Also, overstating the earnings will cause the company to suffer from lawsuits and if they lost the lawsuits stakeholders will have to pay for it. Furthermore, they suffered from multiple fines from the government that only doesn’t affect the company’s reputation but also affects the stakeholders because they will have to pay the fines …show more content…
I have always had this problem of not being able to participate in class because I will have to speak loudly in front of the whole class. I started this class very nervous because I knew that business communication involves around students and the teacher discussing current or past events that will help the students learn. This class helped me open up and start to talk more because I talked with you professor and it helped me overcome some of my fears and having friends that I knew for a long time made me get more comfortable. This will help me be able to work in a team and work in a business environment where I wont know any of the workers around me. I still have not overcame this obstacle but this class gave me the push I needed to start to overcome
When employees have a say in their roles in the workplace they are happier, healthier and more productive. People are social creatures and it is not surprising that working in a team environment can increase productivity, reduce boredom and complacency, while increasing respect and loyalty towards employers.
Sharing ideas within the team is a great benefit to the company as sharing ideas within a team creates a sense of trust. Working in a team has obviously loads of advantages but it also has some disadvantages. The main one could be time consumption. If people can work better in a team, they can also be more easily distracted and can lead to a waste of time. We all have different personalities and we have more or less affinity with other people and strong personalities might lead to a conflict. Also, team work requires more organisation, structure and monitoring. Some individuals might feel unimportant in a team and in a different scenario some people might take advantage such as working less.
This report is to find out how communication, team and leadership affects the outcome of teamwork. Making use of Everest simulation which requires large amount of discussions, and various experimentations on communication and leadership systems. Result was satisfactory as everyone now have higher understanding and experience on the key components that build the ideal team.
Andrew Carnegie said, “Teamwork is the ability to work together towards a common vision. It is the fuel that allows common people to obtain uncommon result.” Working with this definition, teamwork is the ability to agree together. Working together is a decision of making oneself available for a common vision. The results of a team will transcend the outcome of an individual.
Working as a team has a lots of benefits over working individually in any organization whether it is a profit making organization or a non-profit. In a Team work based organization the rate of failure and errors are much fewer and workers can output a much more efficient and high quality works.
It is obvious that people live in a big group around the world. This means that it is difficult for individuals to achieve complex goals alone, so people need to work together and use every one’s advantages to complete many tasks. Nowadays, “team” and “teamwork” are two popular words in our society. Especially in business, an effective team could have more successes in the workplace and make more profit for their organization. In order to make an organization successful, managers have to consider some questions about teams and teamwork management. Why do people work together? What benefits or advantages do individuals and organizations have from team and teamwork? The purpose of this essay is to analyze these problems by using knowledge and theories of management. Also, there is a personal example to explain the importance of teamwork and state personal views of team and teamwork.
The journal article is titled “Creating Hybrid Team Cultures: An Empirical Test of Transnational Team Functioning” authored by, P. Christopher Earley and Elaine Mosakowski from Indiana and Purdue University respectively. The journal provides information on a study that was carried out to measure the impact of heterogeneity and performance of an international organization. The journal tests the relationship between heterogeneity of a team specifically on the issues of cultural differences and the effectiveness of such a team. The main argument is that transnational teams once they have successfully overcome the challenges of heterogeneity will create a certain culture that is unique to them through which effective evaluation and performance is achieved. This type of a culture that the team attains is referred to as a hybrid culture (Earley & Masokwoski, 2000). The journal therefore contains three studies that test the relationship between team heterogeneity and effectiveness.
Overall company will find it extremely hard to succeed without the support of teams. Work group members will not only help each other improve their performance but also help improve the performance of the business. Teamwork allows them to learn to trust and respect each other; this will come in handy when the business is forced to deal with a loss of a team member or loss in revenue. Creating strong hard working teams will benefit a business in the short-run as well as in the long-run. That’s what business of the 21st century should strive for.
Why do we form teams? The goal of a team is to be able to do something together that could not be done alone. In this big, international, world of business and life we do, in fact, need teams. We need to work together to do all that we truly cannot do alone. Yet, knowing that we need teams is only the first step of many. Everyone has some experience being on a team, but few of us are experts who have done extensive research. A byproduct of this is that there are many common myths that abound about teams. These include misconceptions related to varied topics such as: what makes a team, how to run a team effectively, general attitudes about teamwork, its (teamwork’s) value to business and even its very nature.
Effective teams work to establish common goals. These goals are usually the drivers of an effective team when all of the participants are communicating to develop the goals they would all like to achieve. In business, this can be seen when groups set a sales goal and develop a plan of action to achieve this goal. Individuals empowered to approach a goal with their interests in mind as well as the interest of the whole group.
TEAMWORK The teamwork is usually defined as the process of working together in a group to achieve a common goal. These days, working in groups is inevitable. Whether it is a school assignment or working in a clinical setting, we have to work in groups to accomplish a task. We cannot expect to work in isolation all the time. As far as our team is concerned, they worked in an organised manner to accomplish the task within the deadline.
Many of the talents and skills they regularly use on a daily basis will transfer to the project tasks that they may to be assigned.
Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. By fairness I mean allowing everyone the chance to do something. This group project taught me the ability to be a team player. This is a skill needed to be successful in a group.
