Crash! My book fell to the floor. I picked it up and went out to the hall. It was empty, so I looked at my clock and I was an hour late for my class. I must have been tired. I started to sprint to my class, but then I woke up. After I opened my heavy eyes and looked at my digital clock, I got dressed and headed out the door. The messy halls were so packed you could hardly move. It was so loud I could feel the ground shake. There were some people that were pushing and shoving and so I looked back and told them to stop. When I turned back a guy pushed me over because he just got done telling people to stop pushing him. When we collided in the hall, all of my stuff fell everywhere. After that, he helped me pick it up and I noticed that I had
lost my homework. I kind of felt really nervous. I looked everywhere but I couldn't find anything so I started to think about screaming. Then the guy that ran into me noticed I was new and I looked really nervous so he came and helped me find my homework. He helped me find it in the most obvious spot. It was in my backpack the whole time and then he and I went to the same class. After that class we both went to the library and did our homework together. I found out that he was a genius and he knew everything. I also learned that his name was Todd and doesn't that just sound smart in general? He helped me find the new books I needed for the classes we both had together. He had to go back to his dorm so we said our goodbyes and then I headed off to my dorm to watch some tv and play a little video game. Again, I got really tired and then fell asleep. The lesson I learned was to face forward at all times in the hall if it is as packed as it was today. I really hope to see Todd again in the future because I want to learn more about him and what he is doing here at college. I would also ask him what kind of job he would like to do when he grows up. Man I don't know what is in store for next week!
The film named “Crash” is a story taken place in Los Angeles, California. The story in a movie was written by Paul haggis. This movie was released on May 6, 2005. While viewing this movie, most people notice occurrence of the racial issues. Crash movie also holds gender stereotypes, and not only strong racial stereotypes. Gender stereotypes play a noticeable role in the film due to the fact that they are not mentioned or resolved as the racial matters are. Movie’s ending part holds hope for a world which accepts all forms of race, but the plot does not talks about gender, it does not bring hope for a gender which is accepted by world. Several stories take place in the movie crash during the period in Los Angeles. The women in this film share similar characteristics with each other although they are of different class and race. Most of the men also have similar characteristics, but in a masculine and controlling way compared to the women. All the characters in the movie are very narrow-minded and self-justifying. The difference in the movie is that men are macho and self-justifying of their masculine power while the women are self-justifying of their possessions and loved ones.
When I learned that I would have to do my ethnographic report on what I did during Halloween, I was worried because I live in Turnpike and the most excitement that happens in turnpike is the sound of the garbage truck when it comes to pick up the Wednesday trash. Fortunately something did happen to me and I realized I would not have to write a boring paper of how I woke up and just stayed in my room the whole day. Well the day started off with me waking up and walking to the bathroom to take a shower, as soon as the turned the water on I realized I had left my shower and rather than turning off my shower I stayed in because the warmth of the hot water was too seductive for me to get out and get my towel. In the shower I had my usual thoughts about life, death, and comebacks to old arguments. Afterword I got out of my shower and reached for my toothbrush, which was located in a cupboard behind the toilet, but I grabbed at it too quickly and it fell in the toilet. I stood over my toilet for about five minutes just staring at my toothbrush in the toilet not believing what just happened, after that I started blaming myself for being too impatient. When I was done feeling sorry for myself I went into my room in search of another toothbrush but unluckily I couldn’t find one, so I had to go walk to the local store at around 7:30 in search of a toothbrush. While searching for a replacement toothbrush I realized that not that many people were in the store, I had always thought that stores were busiest in the morning and evening but apparently that’s not true. Once I got my new toothbrush I finished brushing, got dressed and went to catch the 11 to the Transit Center.
was putting some towels in the hall closet. His door was open; he saw me and
The most predominate theme that occurred throughout Crash is that “human aren’t all bad” (Farris 357). The movie effectively depicted the theme by showing every characters’ situation from their perspective. Officer Ryan is a good example. Ryan was originally portrayed as a bad guy for molesting Christine and being racist when he pulled over the Thayer’s car. Ryan wishes to see the suffering of others during this specific scene, because he was suffering and agitated from not being able to get proper medical treatment for his father. In other words, Ryan did not act fully out of malicious intentions, but rather he wants to release his stress and anger upon someone else. Later in the movie, it is shown that Ryan was not a real racist since he
“Sweetie, we have to hurry and get to the airport before we miss our flight. You need to get in the car now,” my mom told me with a very mad look on her face. The reason she was mad at me was because she had to keep telling me to get in the car. My mom and I finally jumped in the car along with my older brother. We were going all the way to Texas to visit my grandparents for a few days.
This movie is filled with shocking details and scenes; it shows that each character, whom all are residents of L.A. is different, but shares the same assumptions, fears, and hopes. While watching the movie, I was feeling sorry for the couple who were car jacked, but then later saw how the lady assumed that the Hispanic man was a criminal. Peter is involved in carjacking a vehicle, but is later shot dead by Officer Hansen. Shaniqua was belittled and yelled at by Officer Ryan, but later shows her yelling and berating another driver involved in an accident, at the end of the movie. The two black males who feels mistreated and discriminated against in a restaurant and on the street are the same two who car
Moments later, the shouts of those opposed to my actions grew, repeating “get up, get up, get up,” each louder than the last. I wanted to drop everything and run away from the counter for protection, but I couldn’t. I needed to stay. I needed to endure the same humiliation and dehumanizing threats that those who sat at the lunch counter before myself experienced.
Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I lye on my side, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on the lower half of my body with monster force. It did not hurt, my body was numb. All I could feel was the car hood's mass stamping my body father and farther into the ground. My lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them. My mind was buzzing. What had just happened? In the distance, on that cursed road, I saw cars driving by completely unaware of what happened, how I felt. I tried to yell but my voice was unheard. All I could do was wait. Wait for someone to help me or wait to die.
This old/new bus continued our route, and we all sat quietly, awaiting our stops. Everyone had a tired, almost forlorn look, as though they had been through much more than just switching buses. I did not have any concept of time as the bus chugged along, stopping occasionally to let people off, and all of a sudden I recognized that it was almost to my stop. I jerked out of the stupor I was in as the bus stopped in front of my apartment complex. As I gathered up my things to leave, I looked at my friends and said, "Well, this will make one interesting story at school tomorrow!"
I was dying. Did I mention that I actually cried? It didn’t help, it actually made it worse. To do this day I am in awe of how I held it for so long. Suddenly the bus driver leaves the high way. At that moment my heart starts pumping full of excitement. My bladder was literally about to explode. We reach the front gate to enter the school. And guess what? The front gate was locked. Therefore my band director didn’t have a key to the front gate. He only had a key to the back. Thus making us all go around to the other side of the world to get inside. At this point I just had given up on life. I remember saying to myself, “I’m going to die having to pee.” We finally reach the other side of the gate. My band director opens the gate. So we wait for him to slowly walk up to the bus. We wait for the bus driver to slowly close the door. Also we wait for him to slowly start the bus
I awoke to a stopped bus that wreaked of smoke. After a minute I realized that we were in the white lines between the highway and an exit in west virginia. Then I heard someone say “I think the bus is on fire”. My first thought was “why are we still on here” and my second thought was “where are my pretzels”. We evacuated the bus, (I was smart enough to grab a blanket but I couldn’t find my pretzels) then proceeded to stand on the side of the road for quite some time while we waited for them to figure out what was up and why it was smoking. Next we sat on the bus for an hour waiting for the boys to get off of their bus at a rest stop so that the bus could come get us. Then we drove to the rest stop and on the way, the light on that bus went out. So we all waited at this rest stop for a new bus to come. This place was cold! People were using maps as blankets so when I got there I had to fight for mine. I ended up having half of it taken up by a cranky and cold dean who wanted to walk around with the blanket and brag to
I needed to go to the store so bad that I called my friend to see if I could borrow her car and we could have dinner. It was a rainy fall night and I could barely see out of the window. It was about a week ago when I was in the accident and my friend still haven’t forgiven me.
The store was surrounded by everyday stores such as, Ulta and IKEA. The store was gigantic, with big huge bold letters on a white stone building. My father slowly parked the car and told me to go first and they would follow behind. I was nervous and anxious; I was outside of my comfort zone. However, I knew if I want to be a social worker I have to face going outside my comfort zone on a regular basis. A social worker must protect the right of every U.S. citizen. In the parking lot you could see multiple different ethnicities walking in and out the store with bags of food. I took a quick breath and counted to ten, then step outside the car and walked to the front door. My father had told us that it would be better to split up a find an item in the store that we
I was on a plane headed to Europe when something went terribly wrong, we began a sharp descendant. A fast downhill spiral that seemed only possible to end in complete death for everyone aboard. I was not alone on the plane either, I had my twin sister and my younger sister with me. There were other people on the plane too, strangers to me and my sisters though, I had never seen them before and now I thought I would never see them again. I told my sisters to stay in their seats, I would go to the cockpit, where the flight attendants were, and try to figure out what was going on. I went up to the cockpit, more like down really, the plane was in a spiraling nose dive and gravity took me down to the cockpit faster than one needed. I slammed into the closed, hard, wooden door. The flight attendant, buckled in her little fold out chair grabbed me by the arm and tried to get me into an upright position, I was flat on my back. She pulled me up as I asked her what was going on, she told me she did not know. The door to the cockpit was locked, the
It was just another day of my life. The fourth ring of my alarm woke me up. As usual, I was not feeling to go in school. I slept a couple of more minutes. After while, the shine of the sun coming from the window woke me up.I slowly stretched my arms and slid out of bed. I brushed my teeth and took the shower. Downstair,my mother was calling me for breakfast.I was still undecided what should wear for school. After browsing for while I found something to wear, and finished getting myself ready for school. When I checked the clock, I was running late as usual, which was not a surprised. I quickly ate my half sandwich and left the rest of the sandwich on the table.I took my car key, jump in my black Lexus and made my way to school.During my way to school, I got a call from my friend John. John is my best friend since when we were in middle school. He told me that his car was broke down and he needed to ride to school. Fortunately, my friend house on my school way. I told my friend. I am on my way to pick you up from your house. As I got there, john come out from his house and jumped in my car. With sound of Drake singing and music blasting, it was a
