The film named “Crash” is a story taken place in Los Angeles, California. The story in a movie was written by Paul haggis. This movie was released on May 6, 2005. While viewing this movie, most people notice occurrence of the racial issues. Crash movie also holds gender stereotypes, and not only strong racial stereotypes. Gender stereotypes play a noticeable role in the film due to the fact that they are not mentioned or resolved as the racial matters are. Movie’s ending part holds hope for a world which accepts all forms of race, but the plot does not talks about gender, it does not bring hope for a gender which is accepted by world. Several stories take place in the movie crash during the period in Los Angeles. The women in this film share similar characteristics with each other although they are of different class and race. Most of the men also have similar characteristics, but in a masculine and controlling way compared to the women. All the characters in the movie are very narrow-minded and self-justifying. The difference in the movie is that men are macho and self-justifying of their masculine power while the women are self-justifying of their possessions and loved ones. First example, a man resorting to violence in this movie happens as the story begins. The character named Anthony, who is played by Ludacris, shouts about the service he received at the restaurant they walked out of. He shouted, “ That waitress sized them up in two seconds. They were black and black people do not tip, so she was not going to waste her time. Anthony’s friend, Allan disagrees with Anthony and tells that “we did not get any coffee that we did not want, and I did not order.” This is a proof of racial discrimination. First he shows conflict between two young black men discussing racism around them while they were out at the diner. Second he shown conflict between Jean and Rick while getting changed of their house lock. Lastly, he showed officer Ryan pulling over an African American couple even though they had done nothing wrong. In this movie, director was trying to convey that people in this kind of society are closely related to one another. Our behavior always affect to another in some or the other way. Dealing with this in a good way brings harmony while dealing in a bad way brings conflict. We cannot avoid any contact and interact in anyway, so why we do not just behave in more open-minded way, in which we try to understand and accept others’ culture, customs, complexions, instead of being doubtful, envious and short-tempered.
