Hello everyone! In this discussion, I contrasted and compared the following universities: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Harvard University in Massachusetts, University of Buenos Aires and Duke University North Carolina, Complutense University of Madrid and Yale University, National University of Costa Rica and Princeton University.
The UNAM in Mexico is similar to Harvard University in Massachusetts in many things. For instance, both universities are private institutions. They have their own curriculums. The Royal University was upgraded to the UNAM in 1910 (Coursera). The exchange of views whether a student should attend an HBCU or a PWI has been a topic of discussion for some time now. Whether you attend an HBCU or a PWI you go for one purpose and that purpose is to get your education. So who says because someone goes to a predominantly black school they will not get the same education a person gets that goes to a predominantly white school ? Or vice versa. Many people have some sort of idea that by attending a Predominantly White Institution(PWI) one will receive a higher level of education but that is not truly always the case. Most individuals are under the impression that simply because of your skin color you have to attend that type of school. That is the problem with this case just people see it as one should attend the college with individuals who are like you but not keeping one 's education in mind.
When we hear discussions or read articles about drug wars, killings, and illegal immigration into the United States, many of us immediately think of Mexico. As a nation, Mexico is a much greater country than these commonly referred to issues. Mexico is a country with a broad history, deep family culture, and an economy fueled by oil and tourism. The United States Department of State (USDS) offers a broad range of information on countries outside the US, including Mexico. I found a wealth of information about Mexico through the USDS Background Note provided on their website located at www.state.gov. I will outline for you the key information found in this report, and others, related to the Mexican economy, culture, and more.

According to data collected by World Education News and Reviews, “the participation rate of 29.1 percent among all college-age citizens…represents significant enrollment growth over the last 30 years.” However, it is also found that many students enter the university underprepared, which causes about 50% of the students within the 29.1% to drop out. Students are underprepared because, as mentioned earlier, excessive poverty levels downgrade academic performance of students from a young age. In addition, the reasoning behind the weak educational system in the Dominican Republic is low levels of spending and low levels of education for the teachers. This results in a small budget and, in general, reduced education. Of the 36 major universities in the Dominican Republic, the only public school is the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. Approximately 170,000 students are enrolled at this university and go to classes on a rotating basis. Classes can be any day between Monday and Saturday and students can study several different Bachelors, Masters, and PhD programs. Each student pays approximately RD $42,125 per year, which is $891.19 USD. One student enrolled at this university, Candy, is studying medicine to become a surgeon. When asked about the university itself, she said, “it’s really good, one of the best, the problem is

In the first place, globalisation has elevated the standard of education in such a way that individuals in now globalised world are lavish with information by the growing number of both private as well as public higher learning institutions. This is in contrast to one of the scenes depicted in the movie clip which portrays the previous education system in Malaysia. The inadequacy of facilities makes the learning process inconvenient for both the teacher and the students. Nowadays, there has been a growing number of public as well as private universities in Malaysia. ‘In 1985, Malaysia only had 6 public institutions but the number has increased to 20 in 2008’ (Morshidi Sirat and Tierney, 2008). Along with this, a lot of steps have been taken for example the establishment of APEX (Accelerated Programme for Excellence) universities and research universities to improve the standard of our national education system. The Star dated October 20, 2009 entitled “USM bags five awards at British invention show” has proven the credibility of USM in obtaining the APEX status.
It is refers to the unspecific name of thing, person, place, whereas Harvard is the proper noun because it is the special state of united state, the word state itself common because it can refers to any of the state of united state.
According to a study in California, “about 70 percent of the students often or always feel stressed by their school work, and 56 percent reported often or always worrying about such things as grades, tests, and university acceptance” (Carter). Determining the perfect university has never been an easy step, but we may have to deal with it at some point of our life. High school students are all stressing themselves out to achieve high grades to enter top universities. However, choosing the right university should not be base on the popularity of the schools or academic reasons. As stated in Linda Frum’s Essay, “How to Choose the Right University,” an individual should consider post secondary schools through their location, course availability and environment.
