Flack Session 1 Journal
Since 2008 I have been to a few different colleges, a couple of them were online schools and I decided to change my degree a several different times because I wasn’t sure what it is I wanted to do. I have taken classes and studied for a degree in Accounting, Sports Management, HVAC
(Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) and Business Management. After all the different subjects I have studied for, I feel I am well prepared to finish what I started and earn a degree in something so that I can start a career soon.
While here at Colorado Christian University I can use the knowledge that I have gained from the other schools to help me with my academic studies, submitting assignments, and writing papers in APA format. I still remember going to my first college at Brown Mackie in Indianapolis,

I wasn’t sure if I belonged there thinking maybe I wasn’t smart enough or disciplined enough for college studies. After a couple weeks I got over my fears of being a college student with the help of other students and faculty members.
In 2009 I transferred to University of Phoenix and studied online courses, which I found was very different than being in a class room face to face where you could get help or ask questions. I learned very fast that it is easy to procrastinate. I was always looking on face book, checking my emails, family and friends were constantly coming to the house while I was trying to study or do my reading assignments and there was a lot of reading and information to take in to complete the assignments. After the first couple weeks I learned to manage my time better to complete my work and reading assignments, spend time with the family and be able to get out of the house. Time management is a huge factor when taking online classes. So with this in mind, I know what it is I have to do while here at CCU If I plan to complete my
However, when a student takes an online class the student and professor are at a disadvantage of building an interpersonal relationship. For example, a professor is unable to read the nonverbal cues of a struggling student through a computer screen or is unable to tell if a student is experiencing a true emergency. Just as, a student is unable to read their professors nonverbal cues that a particular chapter or assignment is vital to passing the course. I have taken classes on campus and online classes for three semesters now and have learned that regardless of class format a student needs to be dedicated, structured, self-motivated and not afraid to ask questions. A disadvantage of taking an online class is if a web portal is not working properly.
... the value of organization and planning. The structure provided by the instructor truly helped me break down very large projects into smaller, more approachable assignments. For example, for each essay due, there were smaller deadlines that needed to be met. As I kept up with those smaller assignments, the actual large due date was not intimidating and I was able to handle the stress better. I will definitely use this approach in my future academic writing assignments.
Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is very hard to stop procrastinating everything once you have gotten into the habit of doing it. Once I had a term paper due for my religion class. It was to be ten pages long and we were told to spend a lot of time doing it. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited to the very last minute to do it. I waited until the night before to do most of it. Needless to say, I was up very late that night. In this class there was always a part of the paper due on a certain date before the final paper was due. Having things due before the final paper is due keeps me on task and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your final result will be.
Scheduling and planning are necessary to be successful as a working student. Setting time aside for school assignments is a priority, but it is also important to build in personal time for you, your family, and friends (Blais & Hayes, 2011). S...
Avoiding procrastination is a discipline I learned from experience. Just like our parents will put it, “Experience
Furthermore, I am on a decent pathway for my C and D courses. Currently, I am in an honor Math class and as well as an honor (STEAM) Biology. Without a doubt, I will be completing all four years of Math and Science classes. Not to mention, I have set my goal to do AP Calculus and AP Physic as my future classes. In other word, I am on the right path for completing these requirements.
During my time in high school, I was never a person who possessed the habit of procrastinating. I always tried my best to do my most important task first, such as homework, school projects, and other assignments that were due for extracurricular groups I attended. Then, I would do least important activities second such as going shopping, watching television, and hanging out with my friends. By not procrastinating, I made phenomenal grades in high school. I made the honor roll most of the time because I would do assignments on time, and I could understand what my teacher was teaching. Now that I attend college, my way of doing my school work has slightly changed. Due to a poor understanding of my school assignments, waiting till the last minute to start my work once it has been assigned, and not prioritizing properly, I have developed a habit of procrastinating. Procrastinating is a habit I am working hard to get rid of.
Learning that having good time management skills has shown me that I can take my time and accomplish more. When relating this to school, I can honestly say that starting early is the best gift that I can give myself. As a full-time student with a family and a full-time job, my time is a limited resource (Britton & Tesser, 1991 pg.405). When I start early on an assignment, I don't have to rush and if I mess up, I can start over or seek help if necessary. My work schedule doesn’t always agree with my school schedule but for the most part, I try to have all of my school work completed by Thursday. As I'm approaching the last week in this class, I have began to look over the discussion posts first and then I look over the complete section to familiarize myself with the material before I even go to the read section (Chambers, 2015 pg.4). I found that to be especially helpful when I first began this class because the things that I already knew or felt like I knew, I went ahead and did it.
I procrastinate so often that I have become quite ashamed of it. Procrastination has been a struggle of mine to overcome. The day I realize I needed to stop procrastinating on my school work was during my sophomore year.
All this brought me to search out the prospect of going back to school, something I always wanted to do. My prerequisite for college started with money, or rather the lack of, and the need for an online college.
Some students enjoy traditional universities while others prefer online universities. If someone chooses a traditional university and then realizes that he or she is unable to keep up with his or her schedule and class work, this student might decide to try an online university. Ultimately, everyone chooses which route works best for him or her.

When students are deciding on where to go to college, they have the option of choosing between online classes and the traditional classroom classes. Today, some students are finding it much easier to maintain a job, family and start a college career, all by taking online classes. Although some students still prefer to stick with the traditional classroom classes, they still have the option to take online classes. Both online and the traditional classes will provide the educational requirements needed to obtain a college degree and opportunities in the work field. Although the online classes offer just as much as the traditional classes, they are completely different when it comes to teaching methods, course material and time.
Are you thinking of going to college, and you want to study online, rather than earning a degree the traditional way? You may think that earning a degree online is cheaper than getting your education the way many students do. In addition, you may think online classes are more convenient for busy adults than regular classes. Such thinking would be right, but have you considered a hybrid learning environment, which actually might be better for you than either alternative for a variety of reasons?
I used to procrastinate a lot in high school; however, procrastinating does not work in university. I had to change my way of thinking and my way of organising my time in order to adapt to university life. It was hard at the beginning, but with time, I learned from my mistakes and knew that I always have to look at the syllabus of every course and put a plan to follow. I also
