Ever since my childhood I have been passionate to make remarkable contribution in improving mankind and making earth a better place to live for everybody. Dentistry will prove to be one of the very important steps in achieving my goal. I am from a highly educated middle class Indian family. Since my childhood, I always wanted to be a health professional and my dad encouraged me a lot. I remember when I was in 6th grade my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and why? I replied “A Dentist because it is the job mixed with ART, SCIENCE and MEDICINE.” I still remember the look on her face, she was surprised, may be because she never expected such kind of reply from young boy. I started working towards my goal, after scoring good marks in 10th grade, I worked hard for two years in medical subjects and cracked my State Common Entrance Exam and got admission in well renowned Dental Institute of my state. I completed my Bachelor’s (BDS) in March 2014 from NTR University of health sciences which is an esteemed university all over India.
I worked hard during my 5 years course and performed well in studies and extracurricular activities like various competitions and seminars, cultural music and sports etc. I have also attended various health program conferences conducted by IDA (Indian Dental Association). During my 4th year I conducted awareness program to educate the PERIODONTAL patients on the occasion of WORLD HEALTH DAY (april7th). It developed a lot of interest in peridontics, I learned about importance and scope of subject.
I have undertaken a research programme on CHLORHEXIDINE CHIP IN CHRONIC PERIODONTITIS, this led me to an interest in study of Periodontics. I knew i wanted to continue my dental education by enroll...

Dentistry as a profession over the years has evolved rapidly in light of new scientific evidence. Rapidly evolving science and technology have implemented changes within dentistry as evidenced by new standards and guidelines being produced by nationally recognised associations including National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), Faculty of General Dental Practice (FGDP) and Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) in Scotland, in provision of new scientific evidence. The latest standards and guidelines produced, endorse everyday clinical practice through evidence based dentistry (REF). All dental professionals as part of continued professional development are expected to keep to date on relevant guidelines and knowledge related to their practice (REF). This is supported by the General Dental Council who state all clinicians must maintain their professional knowledge and competence throughout their working career (REF).
Healthcare is a necessity to sustain society. Dentistry is an area of healthcare that I feel extremely passionate about because access to proper dental care is limited, especially in the underserved communities. As an African American, I want to become a dentist and healthcare provider in the hopes of helping patients and adding to the diversification of the field. With a growing minority population in the United States, it has become apparent that there is a shortage of black dentists. This is problematic because underrepresented minorities are in great need of access to culturally connected dentists who understand their clinical needs as much as their lives and their challenges. I believe that when the profession includes a range of ethnicities
Introduction: In Canada, general dental health is not part Canada’s national system of health insurance (Medicare) (1) except for some dental surgical procedures that are performed at hospitals. Since Oral health does not come under the Health Act about ninety-five percent of the oral health care services are offered on a fee-for-service basis. Oral health care is under provincial or territorial jurisdiction like other health care services and publically financed dental care programs provide the remaining five percent of oral health care services (2). Thus, majority of Canadians receive oral health via privately owned dental clinics. Privately owned dental care gives these services providers control over dental service charges, types of available treatment for the patients and number of follow-up appointment for treatments or routine care. Service users pay for the dental expenses from their own pockets or utilize insurance coverage (1).
In the past, diseased or damaged teeth could not be salvaged and in most cases, had to be pulled out. However, in the last three decades, endodontic dentistry has evolved to quite an extent and today, professionals trained in this specialty can help save teeth and repair any inherent damage. Common endodontic procedures include root canal therapy, fixing of broken teeth and repairing dental trauma.

It was a sunny Monday morning when I rolled out of bed, took a shower, put my blue scrubs on, and headed out to work. When I arrived to my dental office in Downtown Summerlin, I could already see the smiling faces of my co-workers, Jackie and Tammy, and I could hear the subtle noise of the dental suction. As I was preparing for the day, the dentist arrived and so did the first patient; a grumpy old man. After what seemed like an hour of dealing with the old man’s attitude and complaints, I finally sat down to assist the doctor with the root canal procedure. As I was sitting in the dental chair, I could only focus on my throbbing back pain and negative attitude. I stopped for a brief moment and looked around at our beautiful tulip wallpaper
In conclusion, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for enabling me to express myself. I would be very thankful if I am offered an admission in your esteemed university.
During the tenure of five years of undergraduate program I studied variety of different courses including Biochemistry, Anatomy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pathology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacognosy, etc. but always found myself more inclined towards pharmacology, physiology and pharmacotherapy of all the different courses I studied and with passing time my interest just grew stronger. In the commencement of undergraduate program, studying different drugs and their mechanisms, diseases and modes of their therapy was merely an interest but by the time my undergraduate degree program ended it became more of a passion. It was for this passion that I decided to pursue a post graduation degree in the respective field. Before I could go any further in academics I wanted to have some practical exposure and consequently, I decided to join a hospital rather than a pharmaceutical industry. Hence, after fighting off a tough competition from all over the country I was recruited among the twenty pharmacy graduates in a year lengthy “On-the-Job Hospital Pharmacist Trainee Program” in July 2013 and currently, I am working as a trainee pharmacist in the most preeminent hospital of the country, Aga Khan Ho...
As Indian culture perceived doctors or engineers as the most successful professionals, that’s what peer pressure introduced me to and instilled in me to be a doctor. Seeing my elder brother become a doctor, I wanted to follow a different path so I channeled my energies towards becoming a dentist. With my hard work and motivation, I was able to score high in the state entrance exams and secured a position in one of the most reputed dental institution of my state. But my interest and fate had different plans.
How Cosmetic Dentistry Can Boost Your Confidence Our teeth are very critical to our image and a mouth can make or break a person's confidence depending on its condition. Some of the unfavorable conditions of our mouths are not our fault because they are natural, e.g., unaligned teeth, while some of them are due to our own shortcomings, e.g. missing teeth as a result of a fight. When a person's dental composition is not suitable, it takes away their comfort when they open their mouths to talk to people and can make them lack confidence, and to some extent hate themselves.

The most obvious benefit of cosmetic dentistry is a significant improvement in your appearance. Straight, white teeth give you a Hollywood smile that will go far to build up your self-confidence. Cosmetic dentistry procedures are often considered non-essential to your overall dental health, but there are several procedures that contribute to healthy teeth and gums by making it easier to clean your teeth and by reducing the effects of bruxism or teeth grinding. Along with an overall confidence boost, you may also have a better chance at acing a job interview. Research shows that people who take care of their teeth do better at social occasions and job interviews.
