In the United States, the history of Career and Technical Education evolved within four major periods. First, the Awakening period which began in 1776-1826, when the right to a free public education was expressed. During this era, educational opportunities in labor and industrial education were being demanded. The rising working class began to press for an education that were more appropriate for their labor and industry’s needs (Awakening 1776-1826, 1976). Even Benjamin Franklin who represented the Awakening middle class was on board with the rise of technical and vocational education which were taught primarily by private masters or contracted apprenticeships (Cohen, 1976).

In the beginning we might feel overwhelmed, unsure and scared by having all these choices, and not knowing which one to turn to, or if were even making the right choice. Exploring the different paths in the career can help us narrow down the alternatives that we are exposed to. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have faced many challenges that made it difficult for me to perform well academically. Some were unexpected and others were due to overcommitment by not understanding my limits. I dedicated most of my time developing myself to become a well-rounded individual by participating in various activities, taking leadership roles, and trying to maintain good grades in school. I knew that the work and effort put into this endeavor would benefit me tenfold in the end both as a quality physical therapist professional and a sophisticated young adult. By honing my intercommunication skills and ability to lead effectively, I put myself in the best position to positively impact the lives of patients on a daily basis. In a profession that deals with people all of time, confidence and self-esteems harbors the personality which defines who I am. One of my main goals was to build a strong foundation of being people-orientated and having a

As one of the oldest siblings in a large family, I have always felt a sense of responsibility for others. whether it is ensuring my sibling have dinner or helping someone clean up after a party, I've always felt a duty to assist other people. I inherited this sense of social responsibility from my parents, both of whom work with the marginalized (my father works with the mentally ill, and my mother the elderly. This sense of duty has driven me to volunteer at a soup kitchen, help the elderly, as well as influencing my career path to be that of a public attorney.
Making a decision can be either easy or hard it really up to you. When I was younger there was many things that came about when I had to make a decision. One day I was at home and my parent had a huge fight. I had to make a decision which parent to go with because of they were separating and i had to decide which part to go with. It was the most hardest decision that I had to make. I didn't want to choose a parent to go with because their both are my parents.I couldn’t understand why I had to go
My long-term career is still undetermined, but I have an idea of what direction I want to go in life. For career goal so far, I want to become a behavior analysis after graduating with my bachelor in psychology. Also, along with becoming a behavior analysis, I want to go into the Peace Corps for two year working with children an anywhere. In some ways, both my career goal and life goal are very similar towards assisting children. In terms of my curricular in school, many of the courses I’ve taken where geared towards the development of children and outside of school, volunteering in programs that focuses on the mental development on children in ways on guidance and tutoring. From my personal experience, the direction I’ve been taking has not be purpose, but my desire to help other and make some type of impact with no acknowledgement makes me happy. Also, other than taking the road towards becoming a behavior analysis, I don’t have any professional history background, so I don’t know if this career choice is the one that will stay.
When I started with this research I knew where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. I have always wanted to be a kindergarten teacher and always wanted to go to Panola College for my basics and then transfer to Stephen F. Austin State University and join the education program. I did learn about many other colleges and many jobs knowing what I already wanted to do; therefore, I wasn't really open to exploring, due to the fact that I'm already set on what I want to do and where I'm going to go. I researched many jobs and I'm interested in them, but I would enjoy being a kindergarten teacher more than my other options.
My whole life I have loved being around animals. I love taking care of them, petting them, walking them, and basically anything you can think of, that is why I want to become a veterinarian so badly. I believe I will be successful in this career because I am good with solving problems as well as dealing with people in stressful situations. A vet specializes in determining and curing illnesses in animals. There are multiple types of vets; some specialize in big animals (horses, cows, sheep, etc.) who travel to farms, and some specialize in small animals (dogs, cats, birds, etc.) who stay in-office or travel to a client’s home if necessary.
Over my career as a student, I believe that I have done well academically. I was the valedictorian of both my junior high and high school classes. During high school, I was involved with engineering Project Lead the Way classes every year, so I was well prepared to start earning my degree in aerospace engineering at Purdue this year. This first semester I am taking mostly basic classes such as calculus, chemistry, and an intro engineering course in order to get the required credits, but I am also in a computer graphics and spatial analysis course in which we have learned to use CATIA and use proper product data management. Previously, I learned to use Inventor in high school, so it was relatively easy to adapt to the new CAD software. I will not
Graduating and getting out on your own is a difficult step to make. There are a lot of things that you have to take into perspective. The choices that you make when you get out of highschool believe it or not are crucial and life altering. Decisions that you have to make are ones like what you want your career to be, where you want to live, and a big decision is buying a house. In making these decisions you have to do a lot of research and things to be prepared. I did a lot of research in hopes of finding a career that I would like and three things that I could see myself doing was owning my own spa ($100,000 yearly salary), managing a spa($60,000 yearly salary), or being an Esthetician. After thinking long and hard about it however, I decided I would like to be en Esthetician. An Esthetician is a person who gives care to skin in a non-medical way. An Esthetician makes a decent amount of money which is important to have if I want to be able to afford a house.

At least as important as determining a career path is determining where to receive the education necessary to pursue it. This is a particularly pressing issue in my life, as I am a high school junior and must begin applying for colleges next fall. Many factors come into play when making this decision, and through this paper I intend to explore these factors with the goal of determining which colleges, from the following, would best suit my educational and financial needs: Kansas State University, Oberlin College, and Pratt Institute.
