The way a person views the world has a huge impact on his or her life. The power of one’s thinking is so strong that the course of his or her life may depend on it. Optimistic thoughts are more likely to attract positive and good things into one’s life. On the other hand, a negative outlook is more likely to bring about negative situations, experiences and outcomes in a person’s life. Negative thinking brings a person down and holds him or her back while positive thinking is uplifting. Although positive thoughts prove to be beneficial, establishing a consistent positive thought pattern can be difficult for some people. My mother is the main source of this belief, because she has always encouraged me to think positively, and has always scolded me when I have spoken negatively. All my life she has stressed positive thinking and how beneficial it can be. My grandma has also encouraged me to have positive thoughts. I have heard it from admirable teachers over the years. Being mindful has taught me to be more open to new experiences and points of view; being religious helped me cope with many negative situations in my life; using Fredrickson’s undoing hypothesis taught me how to think positive in negative situations; having flow taught me how to be more focused; having time affluence taught me how to value the more important things in life over money; and having hope keeps my spirit up and prevents me from giving up on my goals.
