‘’Leadership consists not in degrees of technique but in traits of character; it requires moral Rather than athletic or intellectual effort, and it imposes on both leader and follower alike the Burdens of self-restraint’’ – quoted by Lewis H. Lapham As you embark on your journey towards becoming a freshman in high school, choosing and adjusting to new people can sometimes be very tedious task. Try to become a leader rather than a follower and working to achieve this goal can play a principal role in the early days of your experience. Finding yourself becoming a member of the wrong crowd can seriously alter your potential and lead you down the wrong path. I understand that no one desires to be that one person that sticks out like a sore thumb. But it would be the best decision, or otherwise it could end badly. As a former student who was always being classified as a delinquent in high school, i have now been equipped with the experiences and ability to talk about the bad and opposite experiences and therefore try to influence fellow freshmen not to trod that path. From the first day I entered high school, I was greatly influenced by the activities I saw my fellow peers and even older students engaging in. Who weren't smoking marijuana, were drinking liquor and or even having sex on the compound. From that moment onwards, all the plans I entered high school with in executing , immediately took a turn for the worse. I had plans of becoming elected for the principal’s list and working my hardest on receiving an high grade point average at the end of the year. As the days passed and time progressed, I found myself starting to skip classes for they seemed unimportant. When I try to enter a classroom - I was alw... ... middle of paper ... ...d the freedom of doing anything without feeling out of place. Leadership role can also be helpful in impacting the lives of others in a positive way. As in the opposite, following only affects you as a person, you would have to adjust who you truly are just to fit in. Do not migrate from the hopes and dreams of becoming the next lawyer, doctor or even firefighter. Being a positive leader only affects the world positively towards a better place. To conclude reflecting back on the quote in the beginning lets me aware that I was only a follower because the things that I was doing seemed cool to me and my peers make it seem fun. As they were the most popular and I wanted to be a part. So I departing in saying that the wrong is sometimes sugar-coated but it’s up to you morally as an individual look away. Be a leader in your own way and try to influence others positively.
One may wonder exactly what it is that qualities a strong leader possesses. A strong leader is determined, and strong willed. They must be of good judgment, and without bias. They cannot easily be persuaded, and they are firm, yet at the same time, a good lead must also empathize with his subordinates, and have the best interest at heart for said subordinates, at all times. However, with that being said, a good leader cannot be afraid to discipline his subordinates when necessary. Unmistakably, being a leader is a very difficult feat – one which not everyone can accomplish. A leader must be an authority, a friend and a counsellor, all at once. They must be responsible, and always take into account the disadvantages of a situation. Not everyone is suitable to be a leader, whereas, just about anybody can be a good role model.
Leadership at times can be a complex topic to delve into and may appear to be a simple and graspable concept for a certain few. Leadership skills are not simply acquired through position, seniority, pay scale, or the amount of titles an individual holds but is a characteristic acquired or is an innate trait for the fortunate few who possess it. Leadership can be misconstrued with management; a manager “manages” the daily operations of a company’s work while a leader envisions, influences, and empowers the individuals around them.
Leadership is a quality which cannot be acquired by any person from the other but it can be acquired by self-determination of a person. Leadership can best be called the personality of the very highest ability-whether in ruling, thinking, imagining, innovation, warring, or religious influencing. Leadership is practiced not so much in words a it is in attitude and in actions. Their actions leave a long lasting memory in the line of history and lead up to may events that occur today. To be a leader one will need many qualities. Leaders have a purpose and strategies to accomplish that purpose. They are driven and motivated. In the end they should be able to attain good results. These innate talents help to make up a leader that will succeed and be efficient in carrying out tasks. But, the purpose of this paper is determine what truly makes a leader successful. A successful leader should be considered more on their impact rather than their accomplishments of their organizations alone for they are not sufficient in determining the key to their success .
Leadership is a complex process with many different approaches. This is a summary of the leadership literature including the pros and cons of each approach. The trait approach implies successful leaders are born with those traits. This theory focuses on identifying certain traits that make people great leaders. Some of the major leadership traits identified in the trait approach are intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity, and social ability. There are many advantages to the trait approach. “First, it is intuitively appealing because it fits clearly into the popular idea that leaders are special people who are out front, leading ...
Leadership is strength. Though it is strength, what makes a leader? Is a leader someone who is in front of the line in the game ‘follow the leader’? Technically yes because that is their name in the game, but this essay isn’t about a game. It is about reality. Is a leader made up of a variety of skills, talents, morals, and values? Or perhaps a leader is someone who tells people what to do? Or maybe a leader is someone who can make a difference? To an extent, a leader is built up of all of those possibilities. A leader is someone with a variety of skills, talents, morals and values, and someone who knows how to make a difference, and someone who can guide people into doing what needs to happen. Leadership can’t just be broken up
In order to be a considered or to be thought as a good leader one must possess good character. In order to do so, one should be able to conduct in a manner
Leadership is being able to direct or guide other people by either your own actions or by actually guiding them into the right direction (Acumen). Inspiration to be a leader might come from many different areas like your family, friends, peers, or even teachers. My inspiration didn’t really occur to me until I started attending college in August 2013. In all actuality I never even thought of how to be a leader until I was in Mrs. Moore’s Perspectives class. I now have a desire to be a great leader, and the inspiration has come from Mrs. Moore, and my family. I am the first to attend college out of my family, so in a away I have already started leading my siblings in the right direction. Being a leader means inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and aspirations and helping throughout the journey to success. Being a leader has nothing with authority or being able to tell other what, and how to do things, it’s about having people who look up to you and want to follow your example.
Leadership to me means helping and motivating others to help them excel in an activity. I would like to become a leader because my Muskoka experience in grade 9 was a great way to make me feel part of the school community. Muskoka helped me meet new people and create many strong and long-lasting friendships. I found that this experience made going to high school a lot easier and a lot less stressful. I feel as a Muskoka leader I would be able to pass on the same experience I had with the new students.
Currently, leadership is generally understood as a person with insight and wisdom of guidance, which expected to be efficient in management responsibilities like planning organizing, and monitoring performance (Kandola, 2004, p. 144). In addition, making ethical decision is important to individuals who value and take seriously institutional...
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. Being a leader one must maintain an image of being the role model. I believe that this is leader should be who is someone who has the ability to influence, encourage, listen, and nurture. They are able to inspire, stimulate, persuade, shape, and have an effect on others.
In the setting of organizations, leadership is a quintessential part of the company’s success on any level. The reason why leadership is paramount in an organization is because leaders will influence, motivate, and enable fellow employees to be effective and efficient workers. There are a few ways these qualities can be passed down, either through training, conversation, or even by giving moral support. However, a leader does not have to be solely a position, if you will, but rather a role within the company.
Leadership is something that is heavily prevalent in the workforce and in the world today. Being a leader, in my opinion, takes someone (or a group of people) who is willing and able to lead a few or many people. Not every leader though is successful or leads in a positive way. There definitely exists both good and bad leadership. Many leaders fail while many achieve extraordinary milestones. But everyone, not just leaders, have their pitfalls and rough patches in life. I know that I myself have some weaknesses as a leader, and that is what I want to take some time to reflect on.
Being a good leader would mean that I need to pay attentions to others feelings because it can tell me so much about that person and then I can figure out ways to help that individual succeed or be more productive in the
Leadership is something that is really needed by all of the individual as well as to the organizations. The word leader has been derived from the leadership, which means a person that leads towards something so that the follower could achieve the goals. There are a number of the theories and the studies that have explored the importance of the leaders to the organization. The nations on the other side are also in need of someone who could lead them toward getting the goals. Leaders have the visions that are necessary for achieving the set destination. There is no place of the world where there is no need of leaders. It will be justified to say that due to leaders the hard and the difficult goals become simpler and easier to achieve.
