Upon hearing of the position of Administrative Assistant II with the Department of Accounting at Texas State University, I was extremely excited at the prospect of providing excellent customer service to the students, staff, and faculty of the Accounting Department. Working within the Department of Housing and Residential Life with Texas State University for the last two years has familiarized me with Texas State’s policies and the offerings of the University. Also, it has inspired my drive to work in higher education to support students by being as helpful and informative as possible.

Being a food service accountant is a rewarding job that comes with a lot of responsibility. It’s a job that requires one person to be the financial watchdog over the whole food service operation at any particular Air Force base. The food service accountant has to review all financial records, such as purchase order documents, inventory sheets, and waste logs; and then prepare reports to send up to the Services Agency to report on the facility’s financial status. One person can be the accountant for multiple facilities and the entire Air Force is counting on this individual to catch any major signs of wasteful spending from the facilities that the accountant is responsible for overseeing. Individuals lucky enough to get selected for this position are usually handpicked and have a proven record of responsibility and great attention to detail. Being a food service accountant is a privilege with rewarding benefits that most of the people assigned to the same duty section do not get the opportunity to enjoy.
I believe that people everywhere should always have access to adequate medical care. Where you live should not determine whether you live, and the PA profession was created to improve the availability of healthcare in rural and other underserved areas. As a PA, I would be eager to help people have not had access to the care they needed. I want to serve those that need medical attention but don’t have the means to obtain it—whether in rural Michigan, the inner-city of Atlanta, or the backwoods of Arkansas. Medical Administrative Assistants have numerous of duties in an office setting. Medical Administrative Assistants can get a job in a doctor office or a hospital. Medical Assistants work more in the front of office and hospital assisting patients and checking them in. By knowing some Medical Assistants I know some of their duties are: scheduling patients, greeting patients, doing paper work, handling insurance problems or statements, and also supervising entry. Medical Administrative Assistants may be asked to do take the patient height or blood pressure. Medical assistants are sometime asked to buy the medical equipment needed in the office. When needed they may also work as the office manager. They conduct the doctor's schedule and type letters and bills (Occupational Outlook Handbook). Accounting has an enormous role in this field such as handling the insurance procedures and billing statements. Billing statements are responsibilities that a patient has gathered overtime. Having a great attitude is very much needed as a medical assistant because that job is in the customer service field. It is the medical assistant’s duty to take care of the fees in a medical facility therefore, knowing how to do accounting is a must know. Some of the duties involve collecting payments from the patient, tracking records of all the payments collected and filing forms out to take action against patients that have not made payments in a long time or just none at all that is why accounting is very important in this job. Becoming a Medical Assistant believe it or not is an awesome career. Being able to be on the inside and handling emergency hands on is what I will be experiencing. Medical Assistants overall have many job duties and I might add if you are a busy person and you have the urge to help others, then this job is for you. Overall, the objective is to point out the duties, various opportunities and what you will be able to accomplish in the role as a Medical Assistant.
My lifetime goal is helping others and I plan to use my career to fulfill it. The classes I’m taking right now and the ones I’m planning to take senior year are classes I believe will influence my decision in my college major/career as well as counting toward my GPA. This will help me get into schools who have medical programs that I’m considering. Also, taking AP classes can help me save money since I can earn college credit. I’m taking all AP classes, and the electives I’m taking have been classes that have helped me consider being in the medical field. I’ve found that over the years, science and math are what I’m doing better in versus history and english. I believe by being in the medical field, I can help others in the best way I can.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 38 percent job growth rate for the profession through 2022 (source). Physician Assistants, work under a Physicians or a Surgeons supervision to help treat and diagnose patients. They are usually called PA’s, in the healthcare industry, as an abbreviation. PA’s, are expected to preform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as x-rays or blood work, educate patients about the best coarse of action for a certain disorder or disease, prescribe medicine, and record a patients progress (source). The Medical field is very important in everyday lives, it will always be around. There are many careers that involve the some of the same duties as a CNA career. Nursing Assistants and Orderlies give patients the much needed attention and care the deserve. Being a Nursing Assistant is a great place to start when wanting to work in the Medical field. Nursing Assistance have different duties depending on the location and where you are hired. There is a big amount of information to learn and memorize while training for this career to receive a degree. There are many roles and requirements to receive a degree in the medical field.
Healthcare Administration is an occupation where one would plan, direct, or coordinate medical and health services. These tasks take place in hospitals, clinics, managed care organizations, public health agencies, or similar organizations. This occupation works more with documents, with little patient interaction. You do not commonly become certified to draw blood, and one does not require an internship for this career. This occupation does require a background check. Many careers require specific types of certification. Healthcare Administration requires an LNHA (Licensed Nursing Home Administrator). Challenges for this field depend upon the workplace in which one is working.
That I would choose a career in the medical field has never been a question; I am innately nurturing and compassionate. Finding myself drawn specifically toward a career as a physician assistant is something that has occurred over my lifetime and as a result of many experiences. These experiences have developed a skill set in me that I believe uniquely qualifies me for this particular area of health care. As I considered the caregiving skills and attention to detail required of a nurse, and the problem solving and responsibility required of a physician, I realized that I share qualities with individuals in both professions. I believe that this combination of qualities defines the role of a physician assistant and it is these qualities that make me uniquely suitable for this career path.
Growing up is a natural part of life. We all go through experiences in our daily lives that may be insignificant, but others have an immense impact on our future. Therefore, it is essential to live life fully in every moment, as they may change your life before you even realize it. Indeed, having dreams and goals is what motivates people to get up every day ambitious to work towards their accomplishments. Still, the question is: how do people accomplish their dreams and goals?
