STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I always had a keen desire to do electrical engineering but my under graduation degree started with majors in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. During my course of study I had developed love for Physics and Mathematics. I would spend many hours solving complex equations, dealing with numerical based Physics Problems. I got more inclined towards solving more physics problems because it would provide me with a clear picture and a better understanding to a derived model. For example why can’t an electron exist inside the nucleus of an atom? The uncertainty principle was better understood when I solved a problem on particle confinement.
My interest towards applied physics grew stronger and stronger with time and later I took a decision to do Masters in physics with majors in Electronics. This was the time when I was able to set foundation in Electronics. My course included the core subjects of physics and Electronics both which was the best part of my degree. During my first year of Masters, My course featured analog Electronics and Power electronics; to understand these courses better I took a short duration training to seek learning in electronics from the basics. I opted to do a short duration project on to learn the working of a Switched Mode Power Supply. Till high school, I had knowledge of working of a power supply. But this was time where I came across the working of a SMPS and its vast applications from personal computers to consumer electronics. In the second year of my masters my major subjects included microprocessors, microcontrollers, digital signal processing, VLSI. To bring about more understanding of the courses and to learn the real application of microcontrollers, I decided to design a working...

Now I feel strongly to carry out my research work more efficiently in a group, require an exposure, and a nice microstrip antenna fabrication and characterization facility. I got excited looking at the research areas, faculty and lab at the Ohio state university, the research experience I have gained and the techniques and skills I have learned so far will be of immense help in carrying out work in Electromagnetic and Antennas in this university. It would be a great opportunity to be a part of this university as a PhD student and set a foundation of my career to become a future scientist.
I've always loved learning, especially math. Math has always come easy to me. Science also has never been challenging enough so I took Chemistry this year and I am planning to take physics next years. Chemistry is very challenging for me and I've had thoughts of dropping out of it, but I pushed myself and forced myself not to give
As I mentioned previously, math and science are my primary academic interests, and I can see myself in a future career related to either of those subjects. In the past, I've shown interest in a career in engineering, and have since taken two PLTW
Visiting Indiana University for the first time made my heart melt. The atmosphere, people, and academics have all interested me. I want the hands-on experience that IU is able to provide. My academics
I’m an electrical engineer who created the first kind of computer memory without the need for mechanical parts. After that, I started my company, Wang Labs, and I became an entrepreneur in word processors and desktop calculators, both of which were very new at the time. If you didn't know, word processors were primitive computers that could only be used to write. I liked math and science, and was very proficient at them when I was in grade school and barely bothered with the other classes. I even skipped them sometimes, but I always got an A on the exams, which got me through with higher grades.
The Donald Trump campaign for the GOP presidential nomination has transitioned from a much touted brief flash-in-the-pan scenario, to what can only be characterized as a phenomenal political juggernaut… The billionaire real estate mogul has the entire political establishment on their heels as he continues to defy political gravity and conventional presidential politics. It is a foregone conclusion that the Republican Party political standard as well as the social-conservative brand is mutable going forward. Moreover, election 2016 may in fact swing in the balance given the apparent juxtaposition between the economic super class and the political
I have always been inspired by the workings of chemistry and mathematics. My studies of these subjects have developed my understanding and have made me pursue my interest in these two topics. I want to take up chemistry as it involves a large amount of mathematics which I value and understand to be challenging, yet very enjoyable, as there is always an alternative route to obtain the answer. Additionally, I am drawn to the course because it is a mixture of all these exacting subjects, forming a degree that is very demanding and stimulating. Chemists are constantly thinking of new ways to produce viable drugs containing different isomers to improve the pharmaceutical sector using mathematical equations. Chemistry is about innovation, applying information to new areas and how to do things better than they were before, the degree appeals to and fascinates me.
I have chosen to major in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics because of my experiences in high school. I had the opportunity to work for a radio station during the summers. At school, I took engineering classes all four years. I was able to work on amplifiers, microcontrollers, and other electrical components. I have grown
Ever since I was a child, I have had a great interest for the automotive industry. From car trivia to novel innovations, my innate passion for the automotive industry has always made me research the minutest detail of every vehicle that interested me. Since elementary school I would draw sketches of cars which incorporated technology which were unheard of at that time; novel devices such as electrochromic windshields, HUD displays, and wind turbines which would constantly re-generate electricity for the car. While growing up, my hobbies largely consisted of constructing countless Lego and Meccano sets, and repairing my mom’s 19 year-old car. In middle school, math and science were my favorite subjects: applying science and mathematics to solve real-world problems has fascinated me and I have also taken further steps to reach my goals. By the age of thirteen I devised a scaled model of a heliostat power plant, which successfully powered a light bulb. The mathematics beyond the focus points of parabolic dishes and thermodynamics was very advanced for my age, but I took up the challenge...
While at Hudson Valley Community College I took classes in physics up to Physics III where I worked with models of various circuits (eg. RC circuit), harmonic oscillators (eg. particle in a box) and waves (eg. electromagnetic waves), and calculus classes up to differential equations where I learned to analytically solve equations related to these sorts of systems among others and solved systems of linear differential equations. On top of mathematics and physics related classes, I took two classes on programming where I programmed in Java working with various data structures (eg. linked lists) - on my own I have learned the Python language and have worked with perceptrons using Python - and I took general and abnormal psychology classes gaining insight into the different perspectives of psychology and learning the symptoms of some disorders. At University at Albany I took Introduction to Biopsychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, Neurobiology and Neurophysiology where I learned some of the neural, endocrinological and genetic underpinnings of psychiatric disease, the molecular biological and physical underpinnings of neuroscience and performed extracellular recordings of invertebrate neurons (eg. ERG of crayfish eye to measure flicker fusion frequency), respectively. I have also performed enzyme and ligand binding assays (eg.
Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. I was introduced to my first computer at the age of five, and have loved interacting with them ever since. My decision to study engineering as a career was no surprise to those who knew me.
...d find the right one, it gave me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that was indescribable. One is faced with many challenges like these as an electrical engineer, but it is worth all the trouble because once the program, device, or circuit works right, and is used by many people for different purposes, one feels accomplished and is ready to try a new challenge with a higher sense of self esteem.
I am currently taking Maths, Chemistry and Biology to Advanced Higher, all of which are challenging and stimulating subjects. They have all influenced me in different ways and were integral in my decision to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. They have also helped me obtain a foundation of core skills and extended knowledge to hopefully prepare me undertaking my desired degree. There is no doubt that Maths and chemistry have helped fine tune and advance my problem solving skills and think in a more logical manner, all of which I believe to be essential for this degree.
After I went to Huazhong University of Science and Technology to study materials processing and control engineering, I became interested in various advanced manufacturing and processing techniques especially the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), which could easily make complex geometries directly from digital CAD data. Because of my excellent performance and great enthusiasm, Prof. Yusheng Shi, a leading expert in addictive manufacturing, accepted my application to join his laboratory when I was a sophomore. I teamed up with four senior students, aiming to improve the system of selective laser sintering. We designed CAD models and made theoretic analysis. Working with senior students and graduates improved both my practical and theoretical skills, like operating of instruments and equipments, and fundamental theory of laser processing. Meanwhile I noticed that in many cases macroscopic properties were linked to microstructure. Thus understanding the effect of microstructure on the time evolution, response, and reliability of material properties was important. A lack of the relevant knowledge intrigued me to consider learning mor...
• Interests- Since my father bought my first K’nex set, a type of model building using sticks and gears, I enjoyed using my creativity towards engineering. I also enjoy mathematics, which influences a great deal in the major.
I got admission in NUST, one of the top engineering institutions of my country. In university, there were several important courses that I took provided theoretical knowledge about the fundamentals of electrical engineering. The course about power transmission really inspired me and forced me to choose my majors in Electrical Power. In my senior years, I developed a strong interest in the field of power generation and power system protection. So, I decided to do my final year project on the “Protection system of 3-phase interconnected distribution system”. I was leading my group in this project and my tasks were the designing and simulation of the project. The main challenges were to design the directional element and provide a reliable protection in the event of a fault. The directional relay, which I designed, was a microcontroller based model to detect the direction of power flow. The microcontroller in this model compared the phases of voltage and current using the input fed by zero crossing detectors. The directional relay was used as a control element with an over-current relay. The project was a source of great experience in the field of system protection and it only left me asking for more.
