Good morning Mrs Dover and 8D. I have chosen to analyse the film clip “black fella, white fella” by the Warumpi band, and have determined that the song and associated images is partially successful in communicating aboriginal values, such as culture, land and family. The lyrics include the language features repetition, alliteration and rhetorical questions to deliver a message of reconciliation and equality. These features are also supported by visual imagery that is intended to support the ideas within the song.
There was a vocal recital on October 19th, 2017 at 7:30PM, held at the performance hall in Mountain view college. Alex Longnecker, a tenor vocalist and Imre Patkai, (pianist) played a series of homophonic textured songs, some being sung in German and others in English. The Three selected songs I will be writing about are, The Lincolnshire Poacher, The Plough Boy, and Im Wunderschonen Monat Mai. This performance played a total of 24 Pieces, composed by 4 composers, being Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ernest Chausson, Benjamin Britten, and Robert Schumann.
The Wiz is a musical/movie released in 1978 that was an adaptation of the popular film “Wizard of Oz”. It included several very popular stars of the time, which were Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Nipsey Russell. The movie set place in New York City where the main character, Dorothy, suddenly is swept by a tornado in the middle of a snowstorm. She later then found herself lost in a city she had no clue about and curious as to how she could return home. After meeting 3 other characters during her journey that share similarities, they all embarked on a trip to OZ to fix each of their problems. Throughout the movie characters apply their own soundtrack through singing songs in harmony that compliment the mood of each scene.
On October 20, 1940, Sylvia and Milford Simon Pinsky welcomed their son, Robert Pinsky, into a war-torn world. At a young age Pinsky began pondering over the pronunciation, emphasis, and history of words. To quench his thirst of etymology, he started reading the dictionary, which kindled his interest in the power of words. Foreshadowing Pinsky's bright future with words, his love of words helps shape modern American poetry through his unique style of writing. Robert Pinsky, a member of the Symbolism Movement, writes an acclaimed poem, "Samurai Song," which embodies his unique style of writing.
All music created has some kind of story behind it. It could be a bad story, good story, or even a complicated story. Every artist tells a story in their music that can relate to anyones life. Big Sean’s story on this album, Dark Sky Paradise talks about the bad and the good of paradise. The album has a lot of features from well known artist such as, Drake, Lil Wayne, Jhene Aiko and most importantly Kanye West because he started Sean’s career.
“The House of the Rising Sun” is a classic song released by The Animals in 1964. This song had the use of two guitars, a drum set, and also a keyboard to create the music, and then the lead singer to sing the song. “The House of the Rising Song” has been sung in a countless number of versions and has also acquired many different titles to the song until The Animals released it. A cover to a song is when another artist sings a famous song but typically puts their own spin on it. This particular song has had over one-hundred covers and two famous ones are by Haley Reinhart and Five Finger Death Punch.
Hip-Hop’s criticism of George W. Bush is a good example of hip-hop’s reflection of Black public opinion. The Republican candidate who already had a low approval rating of 57% amongst African-Americans received an even lower approval rating after his lackluster efforts to support Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (Jones, 2003; Cillizza & Sullivan 2013).
The end of a semester is the most stressful time for students because of those dreaded finals. Anyone who lived through the 1990s should know the song a young lion and his pals sang after meeting for the first time. However, as the years pass by, society forgets the simple pleasures of youth and the two words that can make all troubles go away. “Hakuna Matata” was a song written by Tim Rice with music by Elton John. This song is also a story about a warthog before he discovered this amazing expression. However, the biggest part of the song is about being carefree and forgetting any troubles that may arise. As finals approach, a student needs to revisit their childhood past and recall the “wonderful phrase:”

able to go past just their mistakes and eventually were able to practice for a certain amount of time and make progress without wasting any of that.
The song that I choose to do this assignment on is Fight the Power by Public Enemy. Fight the Power was written in 1989 and quickly became a street anthem for millions of youths. It reflects with issues dealing with both the Civil Rights Movement and to remind everyone that they too have Constitutional Rights. This particular song is about empowerment but also fighting the abuse of power that is given to the law enforcement agencies. It gave citizens of the U.S a more modern outlook on the many struggles that not only the African American community is up against but the other minority groups as well. The song’s message was eventually supposed to bring people together and make the world a better place, even though some teens saw it as a way
“Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, / Trash it, change it, mail – upgrade it” (Pentatonix 1.1-2). sung by the up and coming acapella group Pentatonix. The first verse of their most known song makes you feel like robots are sing the song base on how almost robotic sounding the vocals are plus with all the vocals and the sound effects in the background. Pentatonix is a five-member acapella group: Scott, Mitch, Kristie, Avi and Kevin. They are known for covertly Daft Punk’s songs and medley into acapella arrangements. The group was publicly notarized when they completed and won on the third season of The Sing Off. Scott, Mitch, Kristie, and Avi do the vocals and Kevin does the vocal percussion or beat-boxing. Pentatonix’s acapella and beat-boxing adds meaning to Daft Punk’s medley when the group combines different verses to make one acapella arrangement. In
Begge historiene viser temaene fordommer.
When thinking of my favorite song many things come to mind, things like how it makes me feel and the ways it connects with my own experiences and opinions. A favorite song is something very personal and is usually very important to the individual and can do many things from bring a tear to your eye to making you want to dance. When I think of these things I have one particular song that comes to mind, the song that I am of course referring to is Country Trash by Johnny Cash (1973) from his album Any Old Wind That Blows.
