As said by Bill Richardson, “We cannot accomplish all that we need to do without working together”, but that is easier said, than done. The often rumored and associated nightmares one experiences with group work certainly may result in poor attitudes and approaches of the members. This may be the cause of the challenges faced in the groups. In the first group, all of the members were anxious to solve the case, because of this there were more opinions to consider. This made the whole process challenging. I noticed that some people, like myself, automatically took the leadership position. This caused a few problems within the group, but this helped with generating different and more developed ideas. I also enjoyed the creativity within the group. Everyone had different ideas, and this helped to make the assignment enjoyable and a bit humorous at times. Working in the second group also provided me with an interesting experience. Much disagreement took place with this assignment, because of the personal aspect of it. Everyone had a need to stay alive. It may be assumed that each group member would agree on the items essential for living, but the views on what was most important were different. This caused divergence to occur within the group, but eventually we all came to an agreement. In the first group assignment there were more people and more opinions. With the many opinions, coming to an agreement was more difficult in this group. In the second and third group assignments there were also contrasting opinions, but because of the smaller size of the group it was easier to come to an agreement.
Group assignments one and two both had similarities. In both groups the members were anxious when it came to having the correct information. With group one the members needed to discover who committed murder. In the second group the members were anxious to stay alive. With each exercise the members had a goal that they wanted to
