Soda should not be banned from schools because banning it from schools wont mean students wont drink it outside of school also the sell of soda in schools help the schools generate money and kids like soda.
Banning soda in school will not stop kids from drinking it because they can always get it from home or there local convinete store. All kids have to do is ask there parents to buy it and boom there goes the soda in front of them. So even if you ban it in school and their parents tell them not to drink it they might do it anyway. I'm a kid so I would know and I like soda. I cant say every kid is going to do it but most kids like soda and other sugary drinks and drink them whenever possible even if its flavored water kids are going to be kids and you can't stop them from being kids.
Other people say even though students may always consume soda that does not mean it's healthy. They say soda is very unhealthy in fact it has no protein it contains caffeine and contains a lot of fats. They say if students drink too much of soda it may cause health issues in the future like kidney failure or other things of the sort. They say soda is very bad and that's why they would like to ban sodas in schools.
Schools should not ban soda because it will not stop students from drinking it but it may make students consume it more that they can't have it in school. Soda also generates money for schools and most schools have a contract with the soda company that they are selling for and that company helps them pay for things that the students need to learn with. Even though students like soda that does not mean it is good for them but kids are going to drink what they like
The New York Soda Ban is a step in the wrong direction and efforts should be put towards making life better, rather than focusing on a movement that will have little to no effect. Realize that I am not stating the soda should be drank, because even I know that soda is harmful towards the body and is one of the leading causes of obesity. However, I believe that the soda ban will have little effect and that time and money should be applied somewhere where the act would have an effect of making life better. The reason I do not believe this ban will do as much good as stated, is because the ban is flawed. This brings me to my first point, which is, one cup of boysenberry juice has 256 grams of sugar, equaling to 225 calories. One cup of Cola only
Unhealthy foods are what make the money for schools and that is why they serve them for students. (Schlafy) Schools feel like they need the extra money in the budget, even though it is at the student’s expense. Data shows that nearly 60% of all middle schools in the US serve soda from vending machines. (Schlafy) Soda is very high in sugar and is not at all good for children, but it is still sold in school vending machines. The ways food in schools is now are way too high in fats and sugars. This is not good for the children and very bad in the long run. Elementary schoolchildren have an estimated $15 billion of their own money that they can use to buy whatever they want in schools, and parents have almost another $160 billion to give students for food money. (Schlafy) Big businesses see this as a big source of profit and therefore encourage children to buy their products, and want them to be offered in school because of th4e likelihood of children buying the business’s product. All in all, obesity in the US is greatly influenced by the foods offered in schools
The New York soda ban would not prove to be effective because it is will bring about a rebellious reaction in some people, it does not include supermarkets, vending machine and convenience stores and refills which means people can go around it and educating people should be the first step towards improvement in their lifestyle.
This article is talking about a mayor banning beverages larger than 16 oz. at restaurants, sports arenas and movie theaters. The reason this mayor wants to ban large sodas is because he is afraid for all of New York’s health. That’s a good thing because a lot of us don’t know what we drink and eat most of the time. We just eat our food we don’t even bother to look what’s really in side such as calories, fats and oils in our food. This Mayor is doing New York a huge favor by banning large sodas. He’s helping everyone in New York about their health but people of New York doesn’t see that. There are people who are trying to not let him pass this law because some of them probably drink 16 oz. every day of once a week or twice a week or even more.
What we choose to drink can affect our health just as much as our eating habits. It is because of this that more and more people are going for little-to-no calorie options rather than high calorie options, which are supposed to be the ideal, chose. But is it? Have you ever had a sip of diet soda or regular soda and wonder what makes this drink so good? Or maybe the exact opposite, like what makes this drink so bad for you? These drinks can feel so refreshing on a hot summers day or even after a long day of work. What’s not so refreshing is what these drinks can do to your body.
The obesity epidemic is one of the most pressing issues at this point in both American society and U.S. public policy initiatives. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention 35.9% of U.S. adults over the age of twenty are obese (CDC, 2013). The CDC further notes that 69.2% of U.S. adults twenty years of age and over are overweight (this percentage includes those who are obese). The obesity problem is not exclusive to the adults in the U.S. The CDC notes that 18.4% of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 19 are currently obese (CDC, 2013). These statistics illustrate the severity of the obesity epidemic in this country, but what can be done to address or even correct this problem? Many people have proposed solutions, but few are as radical as the proposal from Michael Bloomberg (the New York City Mayor) in 2012.
The article, Soda Consumption Does Not Equal Obesity, states that soda is not the only reason people are obese. When people are more active, they are less likely to have an obesity-related illness. Being active plays an important role because people are constantly burning fat, which makes it less likely for them to be overweight or obese. Economists from Emory University declare that soft drinks do not have a big impact on weight. The reason is that when untaxed, soft drinks only represent 7% of a soda drinker’s calorie intake.
I do not think the soda ban would have worked because all it was only restricting a very small portion of businesses that sell sodas. While sodas may be a large contributor to the US obesity epidemic there are many other sources of sugar-laden foods and drinks such as fast food meals, energy drinks, processed juices, and sports drinks.
Based on the information and data collected through research the statement that soda has no nutritional benefits for the human body and causes harm, opposed to stating that soda has no negative effects to the body can be made. Soda is often a big part of a human’s diet. Therefore, the harmful effects of soda are occurring without people knowing soda is to blame and not having the knowledge of the illnesses that are linked to it.
Soda is such a bad aspect to your daily health because of many reasons. Soda does not contain any essential nutrients needed for a healthy diet, just sugar. Soda is full of empty calories, it does not contain any vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, or fiber. It adds nothing to your diet except excessive amounts of added sugar and unnecessary calories.

To conclude, unhealthy foods in the cafeteria and the vending machines are the worst examples for the kids to maintain the healthy eating habits. Us Parents have to step in to make changes for our kids because in doing so would determine what kind of foods our kids are consuming. We do know for facts they are not getting the proper nutrients while in school, although they do spend in average of eight to 12 hours in schools. We, the parents, can start to make a difference, by attending the school meetings and being active in our kids functions in schools.
Smoking is not a good thing. School is a place to educate people, so it should try its best to avoid bad things. In my opinions, school can even be described as a perfect place on itself. It should teach students that smoke is not good. I think what school should do is not only tell students that smoke is bad but also needs to become a smoke-free campus. I know there are many disadvantages on smoking. School must know it, so it should help students to avoid it. I think the school teaches students smoke is bad but on the other hand, it provides smoking areas on campus. They conflict. Now, school is trying to do the exact thing. Not only tell students smoke is bad but also trying to implement the policy. As what many faculties in this college told me that they are trying to help me to success, school is trying to help students to success on smoke this one of many aspects. I believe a really good student does not smoke and most of smokers are not very good people. Smoking and good people have certain connection. If talk about smoke, what I can react the first is it can threaten people's healths or could even caus...
Students all around the nation refer to lunch as their favorite subject of the day, not only does it provide a social hour, but it also supplies a day 's worth of energy in one meal. However, it centers around one of the most problematic issues school systems face today. Children are constantly reminded that it is essential for them to take care of their bodies and fuel it with needed nutrients, but, ironically, schools are the guilty of distributing some of the worst meals students could possibly consume on a daily basis, simply because they are economical and easy to distribute on a budget. Although, schools do claim to exerting an effort towards giving students healthier foods. Nevertheless, many nutritionists would not consider a diet soda,
Soda contains carbonated water and that does not contribute anything beneficial to your body. There are some experts who claim that carbonated water is not nearly as good when it comes to hydrating your body as regular water. You also gain no health benefits from drinking diet soda as it is excreted out through instant urination. Soda is very rich in sugar and the average America can of soda contains nearly 40 grams of it and this is definitely not good for your
