I believe that being positive is one of the most important things when it comes to any class, but mostly math. Math is a subject that requires a high amount of paying attention and listening, so having a positive outlook towards the class is important towards success. I sometimes get down on myself after I underachieve in a test and I start saying that I can’t succeed in the class or that I’m simply just not good at math, but what I should do is actually get motivated and try to do better on the next test or assignment. I also need to realize that I am now more mature than I was in High School and I should attempt to study as much as possible in order to assure myself a good grade in the class. Giving the course a fair chance and just being …show more content…
Do The Homework!
Homework is extremely important if I want to succeed in math. First I must go over the notes from the previous class as well as the examples that we did in class and I need to understand them perfectly before moving on to the homework. In college, I realized that I will spend more time doing homework and studying than I will be in class, and that is a very big change from high school that took a little bit of getting used to in the beginning of the year. After I have read and understood in class, I move on to the homework and try to tackle the problems the same exact way as we did in class.
When I’m doing my homework I try to do is just how the professor did it in class, so I write down every step and then check the answer. By writing down every step, I have the luxury of seeing where I’m committing my mistakes and I can make it easier on myself by knowing what it is that I have to fix. I like being able to check my answers in the book to make sure that I am doing it correctly as well. When I am done with the homework, I like to go over every concept one more time to make sure I understand the process perfectly and to be certain that I can do any problems no matter what numbers or variables are presented. Sometimes I do the homework but I feel as if the test questions are different and much harder, so I am going to start reviewing concepts and doing the harder problems because I have realized that those are the ones that are presented on the
In the article “Squares on a Checkerboard”, author Steven Schulman discusses how to incorporate worthwhile mathematical tasks into a classroom. Schulman begins the article by discussing the virtue of diligence and how he reminds each of his students to be diligent every day. Diligence is extremely important in a classroom setting because it teaches students how to pay more attention to the work that they are completing and to take pride in their work. Diligence is especially important when completing math problems because it is so easy to make simple mistakes while completing a problem with multiple steps involved. Back when I was in school, I struggled to be diligent when completing my work and often did poorly on math tests because I often
Over the course of these past few weeks we have learned all sorts of math that we will utilize in our everyday lives. They have all been very interesting; my favorite subjects were learning about how voting works and how to calculate owning a home. For our final math project in our math modeling class, we had to choose a topic that interested us yet had something to do with mathematics. For this presentation, I decided to research the history of math and art and how the two have been used together to create amazing artwork.
Learning how to study is just as important as studying a particular topic. Homework teaches you both the material and how to learn on your own.
First, homework can help you understand what you’ve been taught on your own. Take math for example, if you asked a lot of questions in class you are able to try to think to yourself about the problem, and understand how to solve it. Studying the problem will help you get the problem done. Also it will get you done faster if you can understand it. Being able to do homework without having to cheat may be the first responsibility any child or student will have.
Homework is an important aspect in life, and it is used in a multitude of countries. Most of the teachers assign homework on a daily basis, and some only assign homework when it seems to be necessary. Some teachers also make homework as a part of your overall grade, and some teachers rely on their students to put in a total effort. Homework plays an important impact because it is the means of success, and it will determine how prepared you are for any upcoming assessments. Homework is also quality practice and enables the student to succeed more. Homework is more than extra practice. It is an essential resource that teaches students how to be organized and develop good time management skills as well.
Hello, I’m Mimi Sharon and I believe that higher level math should be taught in middle schools due to its positive in-school effects. First of all, the main importance of teaching this subject is to introduce students to these advanced topics and give them a chance to excel in them. After all, if schools never teach the subjects early on, how are kids supposed to know if they like the subject or are good at it when they sign up for high school and college courses? Along with simply knowing if they are good at the course, learning higher maths early on allows students more freedom in high school and college if they finish the required math courses early. Even while still in middle school, many students are ahead of their class and find themselves stuck relearning material.
Each person carries things with them, whether it’s a purse, or a backpack, or a slim wallet slid into their pocket. They may not carry these physical things all of the time, but these staple items are with more than they’re not. The become a part of the person’s identity. They become emotional burdens for the person to bear.
now a days , some schools think that homework is necessary; however, is not needed because takes up too much time and if we don't understand , how can we do the work
Picture yourself sitting in a class not knowing how to do math. Math is very important in our everyday lives. Math is used in all of your classes; including chemistry, shop, art, or to find the percentage of any test grade. If you did not know how to do some of these math skills you are taught every day you will struggle with everyday thing you need to know. Take cooking for example, you need to measure and find the perfect amount of ingredients to correctly make a recipe.
When most people first think of the term mathematics or the word “Algebra,” they don’t get too excited. Most people tend to say “I hate math!” or the big one, “When are we ever going to use it in our lives.” Knowing the fact that algebra will be used in our everyday lives whether we know it or not terrifies me. You know when you have a fear of something so bad you try to avoid it as much as you can, yeah that's me with math. Over the years in my education math have held me back, making my education years miserable and daunting. Writing about my struggles with math would allow me to express how daunting it was for me.
Homework has been an everyday affair for teens throughout America for as long as most can remember. When a teen goes to school they expect to go home with hours of work to be completed at home. While homework may seem harmless, it can cause catastrophic amounts of stress on teenagers and can take away time needed to develop nonacademic skills. The negative effects of a overload of homework is enough to think about regulating how much homework can be allocated to students in a night.
Personally, I believe having a positive attitude while in school and doing tons of work is very important. As a honors student, I know first hand what it is like to have loads of work while also attempting to stay positive at the same time. Maintaining a positive attitude while also balancing three honors classes can be a struggle, not only mentally, but physically as well. School can sometimes be difficult on students and staying positive can often be a battle as well.
Devlin believes that mathematics has four faces 1) Mathematics is a way to improve thinking as problem solving. 2) Mathematics is a way of knowing. 3) Mathematics is a way to improve creative medium. 4) Mathematics is applications. (Mann, 2005). Because mathematics has very important role in our life, teaching math in basic education is as important as any other subjects. Students should study math to help them how to solve problems and meet the practical needs such as collect, count, and process the data. Mathematics, moreover, is required students to be capable of following and understanding the future. It also helps students to be able to think creativity, logically, and critically (Happy & Listyani, 2011,

Mathematics is a school subject that people have mixed feeling about. Many of my personal friends complain about math and express their dislike and hatred towards the subject. I, on the other hand, seem to enjoy math most of the time. Although I sometimes feel angry when I continue to get a certain problem incorrect, I always put my best effort into finding my mistake and fixing it. I have had some amazing math teachers, but I’ve also had some very bad ones. I think that my teacher has a huge effect upon how well I will learn that subject, which can be considered good or bad. I have always realized that math is a very important topic, so I have consistently worked very hard to learn it. My current math course is strengthening my basic mathematics
