Junior year has been very enlightening for me. I have gained awareness of the impact my decisions have on my future, increased my appreciation of those around me and all of the amazing opportunities I have been handed, and realized that I have so much growing to do, as I will be expected to make my own way in life in only two, short, years. Realizing my shortcomings has allowed me to determine the steps I must take to become an all-around better person.
Because of the realizations I’ve made, I’ve already begun to take steps to better myself since the start of junior year. One thing that has been very important to me was being more open and speaking to a wider range of my peers, as I’ve primarily stayed close to the same group of friends since high school began. Becoming organized is also something I plan on achieving soon, as I will be applying to colleges in just over six months and a lack of organization can prevent me from receiving admission to college. In addition to these goals, one long term goal I have to to increase my appreciation for the supportive community I have at the L&N STEM Academy. Having teachers who care so deeply for their students is incredibly motivating. My most prominent goal would likely be going to a college that would make my family, friends, and teachers proud, as I would not have achieved anything without them. These are just a few of my goals, and I hope to surpass all of them.
I can wholeheartedly say that I have learned more since August than I have during any other school year. As I age, I realize the importance of thinking introspectively for mental health and general success. This has allowed me to understand the areas in which I fall short and how I can rectify these issues, which is how I create goals.
