Goals Analysis I was watching a TV commercial in 1974 of a US Navy Destroyer cutting through the water. The caption for that commercial was "Navy. It's not just a job it's an Adventure" That caught my attention and I realized that I had no job and no future at this point in my life. I had no dreams, no ambitions, no goals and that commercial was about to change all of that. That was the start of me setting my life changing goals. Goal setting is a powerful exercise. When you write down your plans, they have a way of becoming a reality. "Goal setting is actually a formal process for personal planning. By setting your goals on a routine basis (at the start of the year, every month, etc.), you propel yourself closer to achieving these goals." (Fowler, 2004) With that thought in mind I have set my first educational goal as a long term goal to earn a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree. This will open up my ability to strive for a career in my field of passion of computers. To overcome the issue of time management I have dedicated my self to using my Yahoo calendar and the calendar in Outlook Express more in-depth and more up to date than in the past. I will print out these calendars and post them on my bulletin board in my home office where I can reference and utilize them properly. My second educational goal is to complete every course for the University of Phoenix BSIT requirements with the best possible score for each class. I have the same issue of time management in relation to this goal. For this problem I have decided to create a semester (course) calendar with co-curricular activities so I can concentrate on completing my requirements for each course without being distracted with personal scheduling conflicts. My third and final educational goal is to complete the requirements for earning a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). This is considered one of my long, long range goals. The only issue related to this goal is that I don't know what is required for this certification. I'm sure with obtaining the requirements from a web source I can overcome this goal with no problem. The next set of goal setting importance is my personal goals with the first being to over come the obstacles associated with returning to school.
I sat in my child development class in a “brick and mortar” classroom setting. What was I doing there? I was extremely interested in what the professor was speaking on and what was being discussed. However, I was beginning to doubt whether I wanted to continue in my current field of study, Speech/Language Pathology. I no longer felt I was being fulfilled. There was something lacking. I talked to a few of my friends who mentioned how much money I would make as a Speech/Language Pathologist. I heard what they were saying, but somehow it just did not matter. I had to find the missing link…….
two goals that are appropriate for the level you have reached in your career and education.
My educational goals are important to me. My goals are to come out of English 100 and be able to write any kind of memo, document, or resume; because I know someday every one of these writing projects will become useful.
I have always been a straight A student, so my number one academic goal is to maintain that streak all though college. Another goal of mine is to finish my core classes early so I can have a bump free senior year. By taking Dual credit and classes throughout the summer I can reduce my workload later on in the future. A third major goal of mine is to be accepted into the Andy Dekaney National Honors Society. As an active member of the NHS I can become more outgoing and have a chance to give back to the
Over the course of everything I`ve changed the way I set my goals. I am on a high positive level with good attentions to keep my gpa were is`s suppose to be, my plans are as follows to have a tutor. study group, communicating with my advisor often and the
Goals such as getting a high GPA or even to pass a certain class correlates to being able to learn in school. When my Freshman year came around my goal was to do well in school; I began educating myself in and outside of school. Settings goals had me acquire knowledge and that is one of my experience of education.
One goal is I want to see what I am capable of. I have a terrible habit where I doubt myself, and that doubt sometimes leads me missing out on life changing opportunities. There’s a saying that goes, “Doubt kills more dreams than future ever will” which really emphasizes how doubt is what makes us runs away from our hopes, goals, and dreams. It is something that makes us terribly afraid to try something new or make an effort with things. However, I truly want to not run away from that doubt, but to be able to overcome it. Even though I may be doubtful at times, I am full of determination to pursue excellence and strive to do my best in everything. For example, I want to see how great I can make my education be in high school. I have a strong connection and commitment when it comes to learning because it’s always a joy and experience when it comes to knowing new things. I believe that knowledge is one great element in life where it leads to the highest success, and it can only be acquired one way through diligence and effort. When it comes to my education, I make sure to not take it for granted and to never give up, even if it may feel brutal at times. In my opinion, I care what I learn and put towards my education rather than the grade given since with all the effort and work I put towards to what I am told, the grade follows. However, that does not mean that I am careless about my grades. I greatly cherish school and can be an example towards others at Rocky Mountain when it comes to setting academic goals and aspiring all the knowledge I want in my education. I want to influence others to make an effort when it comes to their education and see what they’re capable of. That’s why whenever I look at teachers, I see that they are sharing the gift of new traits for our education, for our futures in life. When looking at those apart of the National Honor Society, I noticed that they have
A good way to stay on track with your goals in college is to advance your time management skills. Sit down and list your priorities each day and pick your time carefully. Time is a valuable resource and can be used to your advantage or wasted. Be flexible and expect the unexpected because things just happen. Often in college, hectic class schedules and making time for other things than school can be challenging. Now day’s students have outstanding resources to help keep them organized like smartphones, electronic calendars and planners, cloud and
My final goal is to graduate with my doctorate. Nevertheless, there will be a lot of steps that I will have to take to ensure my goals are met. I will have to use my resources, be a realist, do my reading and research from the experts, and last but not least, set more manageable goal. I have always had a burning desire to teach, so all my goals will be stepping stones until I finally get there. Now that I know what I need to improve on both personally and academically, I have set my goals in ways that make
Goals I was always helping others figure their lives’ out, but I had to take a step back from others and think long and hard where I wanted to be in my life. “Breaking long-term ambitions” is very important for my overall goal achievement, setting smaller goals based on your bigger
1. Writing goals as described is an important element in defining your goals. a. Write five goals to achieve by graduation. Five goals that I would like to achieve by graduation include becoming varsity for cross country, create a club, make a business, have a net worth of 5k, and get accepted into a university. b. Write five goals to reach within ten years.
Goal setting is something we do on a daily basis. A majority of people might not ever see the realization of a lot of the goals they set. Some people remain motivated to continue to work towards their goals, but let’s face it most others will give up. Think about that New Year’s resolution you made… How many minutes did it take before you piled in a few cupcakes? Did you have a cigarette on your way into work in the morning?
can get started on achieving them. I realized I have to start with setting Short-term goals that are precise, positive, organized, and realistic. These goals will keep me motivated and I will continue to strive for success. I would also have to set Long-term visual goals so my Short-term goals would lead up to something positive for my life.
I remember looking back at being a freshman and telling myself I wanted to be at the top of the class. I set those small short term goals such as to take all advanced measure courses and to retain straight A’s on my report card. Every year I started new, but kept the same vision. I focused strictly on school and three years later, I am currently ranked second in the class. The long term goal I had then and viewed as years away has already become a reality.
A few personal goals that I have in life are to stay healthy and take care of myself after I am done playing college softball. I want to be able to work out when I can, eat healthy foods and take the vitamins our body needs daily. The steps needed to achieve this goal is to always put my health first, as long as I am staying with my diet and I will be able to achieve this goal. Another important goal of mine is to always stay close to my family no matter how far or close we are. Along with my friends, I know it is important to keep good relationships, because they can be by your side all your life.
