I am a senior at Hayes who strives to be successful by working hard. My hard work and dedication for success is evident in everything I do. I have worked my way from main stream classes to becoming one of the highest ranked seniors in my class taking all honors and AP courses. I also partake in many activities with in and outside of Hayes like the National Honors Society, where I hold the role of a public relations officer, Marching Band, Chess Club, and the Robotics Engineering club, a club which I co-founded that is gaining a lot of attention in and outside of school. Outside of Hayes I am in programs like the Opportunity Network, Ladders for Leaders, All Star Code, Sankofatech, North Bronx Ghana SDA Church Youth Choir, North Bronx Ghana SDA church IT department, and I even co-founded a Non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Africans through education. My participation in many activities and my vast leadership roles enables me to be well-rounded and knowledgeable person. …show more content…
I utilize every opportunity that comes my way to learn more about it. I volunteer at my church to do IT, video editing, camera operating, audio mixing and public address system sound amplification. Last year, I joined Sankofa Tech, a non- profit technology company, as the public relation officer. I also joined All-Star Code, a program that trains young men of color to program, and taught myself to program in C. I have done all of this to experience and learn more about the ever expanding realm of technology and how it can be used to help people. What truly intrigues me about computers and technology is that with the right code and device anything is possible with effort, the same concept with with effort anything is possible. My quest for knowledge does not end there I plan to take “Software Analysis” and “Programming Lab” at Hunter College next
The way a leader is defined and remembered is not only through his actions and accolades, his followers and the leaders he developed also go into a leader’s legacy. Much like a legendary football coach, whose coaching tree goes on to do great things, I desire to join an organization that not only assist in my development as a leader, but also facilitate in the development of others as well. How could I contribute to the development of leaders? My largest contribution will come from my experience of being the United States military, where I was not only trained how to become an efficient leader, I was also taught on how to facilitate the growth and development of others leaders as well. I am able to accurately assess and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of an individual and assist in the development of a plan of action to address these areas. One of my personal beliefs is that vast knowledge is useless unless it is passed down to someone. With that being said I take every opportunity possible to share any knowledge that has helped me along the way.
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
As a young lady graduating from The Dalles Whatonka High School I think it’s important to be involved in as many activity’s as possible. Throughout my high school years I have been involved in many school activities and comities such as student government. I have always had an interest in athletics and played sports. These leadership and athletic roles have tough me skills that will last me a lifetime.
I believe I am a strong leader and I use my leadership abilities to improve the school as often as I possibly can. One of my strongest leadership skills is communication. I believe that it is vital to talk to others and get others input before making decisions. In the school, I ask other students their opinions on different events and I bring them back to the council frequently. Another leadership ability I possess is creativity. I always attempt to come up with creative and unique ideas to contribute to the council. For example, in meetings I always attempt to share new and different ideas to benefit the council. An important skill for leaders to possess is organization. I show this trait by using a binder to organize my agendas and showing up to every meeting.
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...

First off, I would like to say again, thank you for nominating me as a possible recipient for this scholarship. I do not think I have ever been recognized for my academic achievements throughout my entire school career. I never was really focused and determined to learn before like I am now. So just the nomination is an honor, no matter if I receive the scholarship or not. Thank you for the recognition. It truly made my day.
Leaders can have a powerful impact on the futures of many, and the way in which one approaches leadership is paramount to the type of impact one will have. Continual growth in the areas of knowledge I have and seek to acquire, as well as recognizing my leadership style and utilizing my personal strengths to the fullest, is vital to the successful implementation of my personal philosophy of leadership.
Reasons Why You Are Most Likely Not Going To Get A Scholarship So you think you want to pursue life with your head held high and your dreams right in front of you? If you’re like most children in the United States of America, you believe that you’ll do great in sports, continue to do them up to high school, and then receive a scholarship and make your way into some pricey college while continuing to play the sport you’ve been playing since you learned how to walk. I’m here to tell you that your dream is not as realistic as you think it is. Just because you look good kicking/ throwing/ hitting a ball or some other special talent, doesn’t mean that the NCAA will come running up to you will wide open arms saying you can go anywhere you want
I have successfully worked towards my goals with my academic achievements, my community service, and my work experience. My volunteer experiences with Habitat for Humanity, ADOAA, and my father’s nursing home have helped me develop strong leadership skills, and have taught me how to interact with a wide variety of people. In addition to my volunteer experiences I work off campus throughout the semester at Olive Garden as a certified trainer and I am in the Army Reserves. The combination of my volunteer experiences, both of my jobs, maintaining my grades, and actively participating on campus, I have matured immensely and mastered time management.
