Why I Want To Pursue A Forensic Science Degree

My desire for solving challenging problems led to my choices of studying computing, forensic science and IT. These have been my favourite subjects for the past year and I look forward to expanding my knowledge at degree level. I am eager to learn about artificial intelligence and advanced web design as web design is the unit of the subject I have enjoyed the most as the idea of creating complex web features in a few lines of code intrigues me. A computer science degree will provide me with a broad range of career opportunities and I am particularly interested in using the skills gained at university in further research.

As businesses and government departments continue to advance technologically, there is a growing demand for skilled computing professionals to create new software and solve complex IT issues. As a student who is keen to gain an in-depth knowledge of the theoretical and physical foundations of computer science, including computer system and system software/hardware issues, this course is ideal. I organised and attended UTC Aerospace Systems, one of the world's largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defence, for work experience over five weeks which gave me an alternative perspective into how computing works in industry. I was able to work closely with the computing engineers to create bespoke solutions for their customers and learnt about computing languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML and CSS. While there I built up a good working knowledge of user support in various technological areas, including networking LAN/WAN, from hardware to software together with installation and upgrades.
