Why I Want To Be An Honors Essay

If you do nothing, you change nothing. If selected as an honors student, I fully intend to draw on every opportunity available to me through the honors program such as study abroad, research, and internships. Having type one diabetes both motivates and fuels a passion to better communities I am involved with and work with dedication. I will contribute not only my time, but also my personal experiences and motivation to push for innovation and discovery in on-campus research in a variety of different research.

It would be stating the obvious by writing that graduating with honors from the University of Georgia would speak volumes of my abilities and aspirations; the honor would demonstrate academic superiority and commitment to education. There exists a possibility that the academic rigor of my time at UGA would be greatly reduced and my GPA would fare better without the honors program; nonetheless, I would prefer the challenge and believe that I would thrive in the University of Georgia Honors Program. The experience would provide me with a stronger academic background; however, I am already motivated to take the most out of my college education. Study abroad is strongly encouraged within the honors program, and correspondingly I fully intend to take full advantage of the opportunities offered if

admitted into the Honors Program and even if I am not. Additionally, I have aspirations in participating in campus research throughout my time at the university. Moreover, this aspect of my education would only aid in attaining my goal to receive an internship at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. Along with the above, I would plan to take on leadership roles within my campus involvement, and it is my belief that the education and experiences provided through the Honors Program would transform and distinguish me to be a better leader.
If accepted, upon entering the Honors Program I would have more maturity and curiousity than the average student. As a student at my high school, I done my best to seize every opportunity to better the surrounding communities and represent my school in the best light possible, and I would do the same as an Honors student at the University of Georgia. The purpose of my volunteer work is not to build my resume, but to better the community and make a positive impact on the lives of individuals. One specific campus organization I am interested in devoting hours to is Dawgs for Diabetes because it would be a waste of my personal experience not too. By spreading the good name of the university through volunteer work and personal testimony, I will represent it well within the Athens community and my own. In addition to making the university a warm and welcoming place for others, I would be involved in the university’s research and driven by natural curiosity and passion fueled by my personal experiences.

I have been dedicated to discovery through my science courses in high school because I am aware that the knowledge learned at this stage will further me in the next and ultimately lead me to attain my goal of eradicating type one so that children and adults will no longer have to face the day-to-day battles that accompanies the disease. Along the same lines, I will be dedicated to my studies and will seize any opportunities for research I find. Part of the reason I have chosen the University of Georgia is because its research “holds promise for treatment for diabetes and other debilitating diseases (Peppers). The history of research has drawn me to the university and its honors program. Furthermore, I could contribute not only my time, but also my personal experiences and motivation to push for innovation and discovery as I am not only interested in research to cure diabetes, but also any disease that ails the human population.
Being accepted the University of Georgia Honors Program would be an honor as it would greatly further my academic journey and provide an amplitude of opportunities.

I plan to take advantage of every opportunity thrown my way, if selected to the honors program, including but not limited to study abroad trips, internships, and research. Throughout my time at the university, I would provide positive representation of the university and its honors program through my dedication to volunteer work. If accepted, during my spent in the honors program I would offer my time, motivation, leadership skills, dedication, and personal experiences to better the UGA community and

beyond.
