“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” -John Dewey. This quote represents my view on how education plays its way into life. Early College is a way I can take an education to help better my future. I want to go somewhere in life, and I want to prove that by going the extra mile. Early College will not only provide the education I need, but it will also shape me into the adult I hope to become. I believe wholeheartedly that I am an excellent candidate for this program.
I would make a good candidate for multiple reasons. For instance, I want to learn. I want to go somewhere in life, and Early College is one way that I can learn the things I need to know. I completely understand that yes, I can learn at my normal

One high point is that I do well in most classes. The main are usually foreign languages, history, art, english, and some types of sciences. Another is that I hold high standards for myself. I hate when I have a grade below a B+ to a B, mainly because I know I can do better. A low point would have to be that sometimes I lack motivation. The good thing about that is that I have been working hard at breaking that bad habit. Something I have greatly improved on is my note taking, my writing and ability to comprehend reading, asking for help when needed, and my attitude toward learning. I feel like I am starting to understand that I am growing up, and I need to work hard to go somewhere in life. Some things I could definitely improve on are my study skills, math, test anxiety, and motivation. I, like many other students, do struggle with certain subjects, and that is something I should work on. I hope that with the Early College program I will work harder, and realise that life doesn’t …show more content…
I enjoy lots of different things. I like watching shows like Supernatural, Criminal Minds, Once Upon A Time, and The Flash. They all have such amazing plotlines and characters. Personally, I wish I could be in a show that riveting and exciting. I also like tumbling, mainly due to the fact that I was a gymnast for eleven years, but had to quit after breaking my ankle twice in a span of 7 months. During that year, I got to spend time volunteering in a second grade classroom. It was an incredible experience. I have OCD, vertigo, and multiple types of anxiety. They all affect me quite a bit, some especially more than others. With having anxiety, I learned I have a panic disorder (which causes me to have panic attacks). They certainly are a struggle, but I don’t want to be judged by all of these things. Although they are a part of me, they don’t define me. In sixth grade I took an interest into diving, and have been on the dive team since that very year. I am hoping to be captain my senior year, but if not, I won’t let it bring me down. I love the sport because it incorporates my flexibility and control. I have gone to regionals the past two years, and have been an alternate for state both years. Along with diving, I help coach the middle school dive team. I became more responsible from this because I had to help five kids learn how to do multiple types of dives without getting hurt. I babysit also, yet due to the fact I am turning sixteen this
I have been swimming year-round on a club team since the age of six and when I was younger improving came relatively easily. However, around age 13, I hit a training plateau despite having the same work ethic and focus that I had previously had. I grew to despise swimming and at points I wanted to quit. However, unlike Junior, I had role models and mentors who were positive influences on me and who helped me to overcome this challenge. Primarily, I had several of my best friends on the team who convinced me to keep persevering and to not simply quit the sport that I loved so much just because I was no longer dropping time. For example, every day I watch my close friends Lizanne and Cate come to practice and give it their all, regardless of the numerous injuries and medical issues that plagued their swimming career; their positive outlook and dedication motivated me to try even harder than I had before. Moreover, I had by parents, something that Junior did not have; my parents were always there to support me after yet another disappointing meet reminding me that “you get five minutes for a win and five minutes for a lost”. My parents where my voice of reason as I tried to work through my issues; they were always there to encourage me, but also were very honest with me
Is college worth it? Is college worth the time and energy you invest? This is a question that many students ask themselves as the cost of college rises and jobs are harder to find. As a 27 year, old college student myself I really thought about this question. I had to think back when I first started college at the age of 18 and how I was excited about starting college. I easily got tired of all the work that it took to get the degree so I dropped out. After having my first child and trying to work and take of her and myself with only making minimal wages, barely get by that when I knew college is worth it. A college education is one of the most reliable paths to financial success for students and gives the opportunity
After two years of recreational diving I have learned some of the ins and outs of the dive community. Diving has become such an enjoyable experience for me that I have decided to make a career change and work towards my dream of being a commercial diver. Before making such a life altering decision, it is important to understand the differences between the two in order to further understand the depth of my decision. In this essay, I will compare portions of recreational diving to its equivalent in technical diving. I will discuss equipment, locations and careers associated with each to assist in better understanding their differences.
Students may think it’s unfair for some to go to college early and others stay behind, but this could actually separate the students who put in the work and effort to have this opportunity. If able, students should be able to start their lives early at a younger age because it brings about a greater experience. Starting their lives younger could be a great thing to go ahead and make their mistakes that every college student usually
If you do nothing, you change nothing. If selected as an honors student, I fully intend to draw on every opportunity available to me through the honors program such as study abroad, research, and internships. Having type one diabetes both motivates and fuels a passion to better communities I am involved with and work with dedication. I will contribute not only my time, but also my personal experiences and motivation to push for innovation and discovery in on-campus research in a variety of different research.
There are many ways that the Early College Program with the goal of me fulfilling my dreams. It will help me obtain valuable life skills. It also will allow me to start my career much sooner than average. Also it will allow me to have a glimpse at how I must approach my work once I am in College. There are many opportunities that the Early College Program will open up for me.
After reading “College Isn’t For Everyone”, I pondered various thoughts. Some of which agree with the author. However, others may disagree with the options stated by the author. For example, I do believe that not all high school students need to attend college. Plenty of options are available such as a trade school or the military. However, I do agree that thinking about college is important. Even if not an opinion that agrees with someone, one should consider all options before making a final choice.
I grew up constantly seeing my parents suffer from choices they made when they were freshly graduated from high school. They always told me to go to college so I wouldn’t have to suffer from the same mistakes they made and I was going to do just that. I decided to take on the student loan debt and continue my education because I refused to settle immediately in life.
College is said to be the gateway to a successful career, and I think no different. One of the main reasons I want a college education is so when I approach an employer they see me and think success. Studies have shown that when you have a college degree you are more likely to make an average 20 thousand more a year. If I was awarded this scholarship money it would completely change things for me; I say this because my family has struggled financially and with this I would be saved from crippling debt in years to come. Another reason a college degree is important to me is because I am striving for financial success so that I do not have to struggle like my parents have. In life money is what makes the world go round, and with a college degree I would be placed in a position where I would be able to achieve a level of financial security that would support myself, and hopefully a
Why do people choose a college? People ask themselves this question all the time. They wonder if college is something they need or don’t need. People think college won’t help them in the future, but in the long run it will. College helps people in many ways though. Some ways college can help us now in days is to get better jobs, extra money and getting the experience of seeing what college is like. As I researched on college and why people try to go. It was interesting to understand all there is now in days to learn when you’re there. College isn’t always a harmful idea to think about going into either. People think its easier now in days to just get a job and live a little. College at least would give you an idea of your talents and strengths in life at least. Hopefully, throughout the rest of my research I find out some additional reasons why people choose a college.
The life I have had so far has taught me a lot about academic and life skills; from when I was about six to the age I am now. I am always learning and happy to learn new things. I might not know what I want right now, but I do know that I want something for my life; I want to go to college, so I could make the future I see happen. As you 're reading this you 're probably asking yourself why? Why does going and graduating college mean so much to her? What makes her different from all the others? Well, to answer all those questions you would have to continue reading as I explain some of the moments in my life, in which they brought me to the conclusion that I have to go to college.
In the generation we live in now college is not option or privilege. College nowadays is necessity. The big question is that is college education worth it. College can be worth it, but it also is not worth. I will explain why in this paper. A lot of people are successful, and they haven’t stepped a foot in a college, and they are doing better than a person who has received a degree. Both sides of the argument have a view.
“A good education is a foundation for a better future.” ~ Elizabeth Warren. The reasoning behind why I want to go to college is to better my future. I am considered one of the first generation in my family to go to college, putting a lot of meaning behind why I believe I should go on to a different path. From a very young age I have always held high expectations of myself, even of the numerous changes in careers I had obtained an interest in. I have always envisioned myself going to college because I certainly value education. I believe that the more education I receive, the more valuable I am to this generation of the work force. Not only does my passion of learning hold place in the reasoning behind why I want to go to college, but because of my role models growing up. My parents both encourage me on a daily basis to go to college, and have encouraged my initiative to seek more in life. My father once explained that he once had this opportunity to receive a free ride to college but decided to stay home and start a family. He of course never looked back or regretted his decision because if not I wouldn 't be here today, but he encouraged me to take on these amazing offers and
College is a very important thing. If you go to college you will most likely get better pay in your career. Also, with a college degree, you have more opportunities. I believe that everyone should go to college. If you don’t go to college and just go into some job and that fails then you have no backup plan. A college graduate is more likely to be offered employment than another who didn’t attend college, if you have a college degree you will make more money in your lifetime than someone who doesn’t have a degree, if you are considering having children having a college degree is very beneficial to them, you have a higher chance of having better health yourself, college is very beneficial, and if you go to college you will have a better social
The Scuba Diving classes that I took were on the same days as soccer games, and that stopped me from getting to play in the soccer games on those days. Scuba Diving also was from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. twice a week, which left me little time to do homework on those days. The second problem that I faced was with money. Scuba diving is an expensive hobby and I learned that it requires a lot of dedication from anyone wanting to learn to do it. In total, I spent over $400 on equipment and my parents spent over $500 on training and my certification trip to Florida.
