It happens junior year 2015, when I proved to myself and others that I could solve my problem. My problem was that I could not seem to reach my academic goal, which were getting A’s and B’s on my report cards. I had always been an average student and struggled my whole life to get there. I accomplish my dilemma by keeping everything organized, studying, turning everything on time, believe in myself, and making a commitment to myself. This was always significant for me to be an honor student. I’ve always wanted to prove not to myself, but to my family that I could academic goal. Initially, started by organizing, which don’t seem like a big deal at first, and that seems what students don’t notice. By keeping everything organized helps me by knowing where everything is place, and won’t have a misplace paper that will later on be needed. Also organization help me know when something is due, so I would know ahead of time, and turn it in before I get deducted point from the assignment. Another point is keeping everything constructed won’t waste era on finding that paper to study. Studying was another path that made me succeed in getting those excellent grades in all my classe. Studying gave me preparation on what the test is going to have, by studying for the test everything was effortless. It gave me practice on the subject by applying myself to study over and over again, and that’s how I got to memorize every little detail. Believing in myself and committing on myself was another big step to achieving academic excellence. I always said “ I’ve been an average student, I mean it’s not the bad still passing the grade, why do people need good grades anyways.” This mean my whole life I’ve been a
I endeavor to obtain excellence in my academics; I wish to exemplify scholarship by constantly asking the whys and hows of things. I will not let a bad grade define who I am as a student or who I will become. I also want to take the most challenging classes available, not because it will look good on my college application, but because I genuinely love the concept of learning and discovering new things. Education doesn’t end after high school, so I plan to attend university, eager to attain the knowledge to better understand my world: and expand it.
If you do nothing, you change nothing. If selected as an honors student, I fully intend to draw on every opportunity available to me through the honors program such as study abroad, research, and internships. Having type one diabetes both motivates and fuels a passion to better communities I am involved with and work with dedication. I will contribute not only my time, but also my personal experiences and motivation to push for innovation and discovery in on-campus research in a variety of different research.
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
Why I desire to be an Alpha man, a question that rolls around my thoughts since being invited to an informational. Out of all the organizations that exist from college fraternities to masonic lodges that cater to those of my cultural background the Alpha’s have always stood out as special, important and significant. In today’s society the romantic notion of college educated black man has almost no appeal unless affiliated with sports. Yet there is a storm brewing under the current of business, philosophy and science that will erupt and captivate the audience of this technological generation as it moves forward; and the vibrant and committed voices that represent Alpha Phi Alpha will have to ring true for the legacy to continue. It is the fuel that feeds my ever-growing hunger to dance. Living by this motto will help me achieve my goal of becoming not just a professional dancer, but also an inspiration to others. My strong extracurricular background provides for a solid base, serving as a great steppingstone as I reach closer and closer to making my dream a reality.
I want to go to college for the wholesome intellectual stimulation and to get more involved with my community. College will be my last opportunity to do so before I enter the work force. At college I can be intellectually and academically challenged; I will be able to learn with friends who are as dedicated to learning and the pursuit of knowledge as I am. My goals in college are to acquire the skills that I need to lead a successful and productive life, to expand my knowledge of the world, to step out of my comfort zone, and to become more proactive.
If I was to pick one personal quality that I have, it would have to me the ability to influence the people around me in a positive way. The reason why I chose this particular quality is simply that it tends to help others get back on track before they get too far off.
I'd like to be involved in UIC's Honors College in order to share my passion for learning, as well as to be challenged and to expand my knowledge as an academic.
To me, an honors science student is someone who works hard and meets deadlines. I would be a great member because I would strive hard to do both. There are many qualities that an honors student should possess, and I believe I have the skills to be an excellent student. First, I am very energetic and I love to work and communicate with others. Additionally, I am great at remembering instructions, and following directions. I also make sure I am open minded, and try think outside of the box. I am fascinated by all fields of science, but I am most interested in computer science. I am always in a good mood when I come to class, and am excited to learn no matter how bad of a day I am having. I always am able to focus my attention on the task at hand
From this chapter I have learned a lot about myself and how to study. Before I never really understood the different ways I studied, I just knew what seemed to work. I now understand why those techniques were successful. Now that I am aware I am a mostly a visual learner, have an integrated brain, and have bodily-kinesthetic and logical-mathematical intelligence, I look forward to implementing the newly learned studying techniques with the old, making my college experience as successful as possible.

When I was 8 year old I scored 100 out of 100 marks in Mathematics and when my class teacher announced the results whole class stood and clapped, I can never forget that overwhelming moment in my life, I was so happy and contended, and that day I understood the importance of education in life. My parents couldn’t study after high school due to financial restrictions but they always taught me importance of higher education to imagine and pursue goals. My family has been extremely supportive throughout the journey and has constantly motivated me to realize my potential to the fullest extent by providing conducive environment for studying and encouraging me in my endeavors. My journey as a student has always been focused on the path to college and success. Before I even set foot in kindergarten my mother, a college dropout, always told me that “honor roll wasn’t an option” and that I would be attending college in the future and achieving a degree. Most of the time I made these requirements. Most of the time I was awarded honor roll or had a newly edited list of colleges to attend, but sometimes life got in the way of my dreams of achieving success.
