I think we deserve an A+ or A as a grade because I feel we all contributed .Everyone took responsibility for their own assignment and work efficiently. We had great communication in regarding deadlines and who was responsible in printing or bringing supplies. Also because during the event everyone was engage with the parents and with the kids no one was sitting down or not doing nothing. Another reason why I feel we deserve this grade is because during class time we all took the time to discuss and plan what activities we were planning in doing, what to bring, what the articles mention and what type of resources would be beneficial for the community.
When I assign this assignment, I first would hope he will do it. I say this because he might not want me to know anything about him anymore. Also because he might drop out of school or maybe not care. But if he does decide to do it, then I hope he puts the same amount of detail like how he did in the last assignment I gave him. I hope that he goes into more detail if possible about it. He might say it in a story like last time. If he does then it would definitely get an A. If it is long it would probably get a A. Or If it is short I would still give it an A because if it is anything like the story he told last time he definitely deserves it. That story he told me was the best piece of writing I have ever read.
I believe that to motivate students to do work, practice work needs to be worth more than 10% of a students’ grade. Ideally, I believe the grading scale should be closer to 75% knowledge, and 25% practice. I believe this would help students want to do their work because practice work is worth much more than 10%. If the students do not do any practice work, they can end up with a C, which in many cases is deemed average. Also, those who do their practice work well can use practice assignments to bring up bad test scores. Due to this, more students will do well on their practice work, therefore leading to better scores in tests because students are trying on practice work and they are doing work. Those on the school board may think that 75/25 would be too much weight on practice work, due to this I also think an 80/20 grading scale would be a good option. Seeing as students would still be getting more credit for their homework. The 90/10 grading system needs to be changed for Emma and for all the students at Austin High School in order to benefit them in the future, in both college and their future
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
As a mother of three students and me being a student, it is evident that our current grading system is no longer efficient. The grading system that once might have worked is no longer an effective means of measure in the 21st Century. For us to overlook the thoughts of a new improved way of grading or evaluating students, only restrains our ability to put into place something more current and something more efficient. Something that could perhaps empower our students to perform at greater levels, or something that could perhaps embolden our students to want to learn. Relying on the traditional way of grading, can actually be more harmful than helpful when it comes to empowering our students and calculating or measuring their growth.
Overall, I would give this class on a scale of one to ten an eight out of ten. The progression from the introduction of discourse communities to the power point on a specific discourse community went smoothly. The course was well thought out and I felt that it touched all of the necessary material for a composition one course. The only issue that I had with the class would be the cancellation of the classes. I know this may be out of your control but It made it difficult for me whenever I had a question, however, being able to email and get a quick response helped fix the issue.
This article discusses ineffective grading, the high stakes of grading, and the steps in could take to change those practices. There were three areas that were discussed about ineffective grading that involved the concept of giving zeros, averaging all scores throughout the semester, and using the semester kill project, paper, test, or lab. All of these things do not prove what students have learned but rather show what they learned right now or are trying to make one thing more important than everything else. With the giving of zeros in a gradebook you are just validating that the student does need the knowledge. The high stakes of grading were about the cost of failure and the positive impact that grading change can have on a school system. Finally, the author outlines a 4 steps that can lead to better grading practices which are creating a sense of urgency, identifying teacher leaders who are improving grading policies, getting the facts, and reassuring stakeholders that certain
Before the storm of the century, I believe that I had a grade of 86 for Graphic Design. I have done all the work I have been told to do. I completed all of my work to the best in my ability. I respect my teacher and listen to what he has to say. Also I work hard to do all my work in time. And that’s why I deserve a grade of 86.
The current grading system should be upgraded, and every school should incorporate the plus/minus system in their method of grading. Public high schools began a grading system as a way of telling an individual how they were performing. There was no interest by the public in reporting the school’s progress in teaching. Teachers, in an effort to recognize outstanding performers, looked for a way of rewarding hard-working students for their efforts. The grading structure changed from superior and excellent to A’s and B’s.
I deserve this 25,000 dollars because I am a car guy and i need money to start a small business. I love to buy, fix, and sell vehicles. My whole life i have been working on vehicles and if i had this money then i would be able to fulfill my dreams. I will spend this money on used cars that have been either wrecked or just quit working, see what exactly is wrong with it, fix it and then sell it for more than it was to buy the car and the amount the cost was for the parts.
In the end, my team and I got an A- for our presentation and paper. I believe that this project was completely successful and although there were some difficult times throughout the process, I am proud to say that we all stayed committed to the project. I feel that this was my most significant leadership experience because I used everything I learned through my experience in business organizations to make this project come to life. I felt that I showed the qualities of a good leader because I was determined, motivated, worked well with the team, delegated tasks to the team effectively, and communicated with the team to make this project
Teacher evaluations are very important. Most of the time, they have a negative feeling attached to them. Some teachers view evaluations as a way of them getting written up for what they are not doing and not as a way of growing and improving to help them teach their students. This also depends on how the principals frame and do teacher evaluations. I wanted to focus on teacher evaluations because I want to show how having a good teacher evaluation can lead to teacher and student growth in the school.
I honestly didn’t find anything problematic in the curriculum for me. I thought that it was really good there is nothing that I can think of to improve it, everything the we did made sense and was explained clearly enough to really know what we were working on in class and every question I had was answered well and helped me understand
Also, in the beginning of the lesson I gave the students clear directions of what I expected of the students. I had the students repeat the expectations back to me which was a success since they understood and did what was expected. After the activity, the students were supposed to complete a word sort and then a writing prompt. During the writing and the sort, I did not give clear instructions which affected the students and how they completed the assessment. The next time I teach a lesson, I need to focus more on directions and giving detailed
I have shared my graded unit findings with my mentor, she has found this very informative and really valued seeing the support from another persons view. She and the school are very happy to discover my graded unit confirms that the school is delivering support as it set out to. They will continue to offer support in this way as they feel it has and will continue to get results.
All in all, I felt that this lesson implementation was a good experience for me, I learned a lot from last semesters practicum, and feel more comfortable teaching the children while being observed and am able to manage the class much better, although I am still quite nervous, which is something that I will continue to work on.
