According to Dave Ramsey several different employees are asking for several religious accommodations such as to religious dress accommodations. Many employers require their employees to follow a dress code. Employers regulate clothing, piercings, tattoos, makeup, nails, hair, and more. For the most part these dress codes are legal as long as they are not discriminatory. For example, men and women can have different dress codes if the dress codes do not put an unfair burden on one sex. However, even if a dress code is discriminatory, an employer does not need to make exceptions for certain employees, if doing so would place an undue burden on the employer. For example, if someone’s religion said they could not wear pants but they worked at a factory that required them to wear pants, a court would likely side with the employer as the pants are for the employees safety (Bryars, 2011). …show more content…

Facts of the Case: In 2008, Samantha Elauf applied for a job at Abercrombie & Fitch, Inc., who as part of their “Look Policy” prohibit the use of caps. Elauf, as part of her religious practice, wore a headscarf to the interview. She was interviewed by assistant manager Heather Cooke, who gave her a score that qualified her to be hired. Cooke, however, was worried that Elauf’s headscarf was against the store’s policy and called her district manager Randall Johnson. She informed Johnson of her belief that Elauf wore her headscarf because of her religion, and Johnson replied that headwear, whether it was religious or not, violated the “Look Policy” of the store.

There are many militaries throughout the world but the US Military is seen as the most professional and capable military in the world. We are perceived this way due to our rules and regulations that have branched from our fundamental principles and doctrine. Uniformity is one of our leading regulations in the military. Uniformity is what makes the military have a professional image. It is the basis of our instructions and regulations concerning the dress and appearance of our military personnel. Recently however, the Pentagon has decided that it is more important to accommodate certain groups of people then to have a professional and uniform military. On January 22nd 2014 the Pentagon passed a new policy that is easing up on the existing regulations by allowing beards, turbans, headscarf’s, tattoos and piercings of religious nature to be worn while in uniform (Pellerin, 2014). This new policy has started a heated debate about whether this is a good idea or not. I myself believe that this policy should not be allowed because it is undermining basic military values, lowering our standards on regulations, and it is a start to a new undesirable military force.
Many businesses have begun using a casual dress policy on certain days. Implementing dress-down days may be an effective way to boost employee morale. The question that seems to pop up too often is whether dress-down days are a benefit or burden to the company. Many companies have adopted Friday as a casual or dress-down day, while others have made casual business attire a full-time policy. Some employees view wearing casual business clothing as an employee benefit. To others, it is a disaster. Both men and women are often confused about what "casual" means and about how to dress casually and still look professional. Some people in management positions feel employees goof off on casual dress day. This report will look at all these issues as well as a conclusion about the effectiveness of casual dress days.

To begin with, students should have the freedom to choose their own clothing. The schools systems should use a dress code, since this will not completely suppress one’s creativity. This plan gives students a chance to express their imagination and personality through their own clothing. Moreover, it teaches students to have their own judgment about what type of clothes are appropriate or inappropriate. What is equally important, a student’s religion. If students are religious, they should not have to break their traditions because of uniforms. For instance, some religions require students to wear special headdresses or specific articles of clothing. In other words, once uniforms are established, they cannot wear them. They should not have to ask for it to be allowed, religion is their life. Furthermore, students are able to feel more confident and comfortable in their own clothing. Having confidence is important to students because it inspires them to keep moving forward. Therefore, instead of forcing uniforms upon the students to be worn everyday, schools should enforce a dress code instead.
