Teaching is a difficult job, and one that I believe requires a vast array of skills and attributes in order for one to be successful in. The image of ourselves that we project to our students can become a model for our students to follow. Many people, myself included, still remember many of their high school teachers and look up to them as role models. It is important to recognizes the skills and attributes that teachers have not simply because they will help you to be successful in your career, but because we want to ensure we are being positive role models for our students.

Therefore, a teacher must be flexible in what they plan because they must be prepared to meet multiple learning styles, subject interest or varying arrays of comprehension of the lesson. Teachers must be willing to adapt styles that they prefer learning and teaching in to ones that fit their students more so than themselves. Secondly, a teacher must be organized. One of the most important things a teacher does is give feedback to their students so they can evaluate how close they are to meeting the outcome. In order to provide feedback in a relevant time period a teacher must be able to balance assessments and planning with all of their other duties as a teacher and the best way to do is to have a solid system of organization. Teachers also must have an organized approach to their lesson planning so they can create lessons that will engage the students and help further their knowledge of the outcome they are working towards. A teacher must never get complacent in their jobs, we must always be willing to reevaluate ourselves, our goals and our approaches to teaching to see if we can better meet the needs of our students.
