Regarding the teaching process, teaching may be seen as three-step activities: planning, activities in the classroom and activities after the lesson (Haynes, 2010). The first step consists of planning and preparation activities, which are required before teaching in a class. The second step is the activities in the classroom (classroom management, teaching, and learning). Activities of the third step take place after the lesson (assessment, with associated activities such as recording and reporting, and evaluating). In this study, teacher’s lesson plans are used to analyze the teacher’s preparation in implementing project based learning starting from the planning until the implementation process in the classroom.

Internally, by using a lesson plan a teacher will have both a framework and a guideline for teaching activities (Brown, 2001). By using this guideline, the teachers will at least know what kind of activity that they will ask their students to do and how long each activity should last. At the end of the lesson, teachers should have an expectation of what their students should accomplish, and lesson plan is a guide that will assists them to realize such expectation. Most educators do not make new lesson plans they change ones by adding instructional strategies. The more ways an educator teaches the better off the students are when it comes to learning. Not all students learn by listening to a lecture. There are visual learners, kinesthetic learners (hand-on), and auditory learners. If an educator can reach out using all of these styles most if not every student will learn what is being taught. Intelligence has been separated into different parts; “linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal behaviors” (Hardman, 2011). Knowing this as an educator a lesson plan should incorporate auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners, thus covering all areas.
The goal is to have children be develop positive guidance strategies, independence, gain control, health and safety practices, and be good problem solvers. Having a good intentional plan will help the child become aware of their environment.

As teachers we plan our lessons and think to ourselves, "my students are going to love this lesson and will be able to understand what I am teaching", but sometimes that isn 't the case. You may plan a lesson in hopes that your students understand but it doesn 't go as planned. Every student learns differently and thinks differently and because of this we, as teachers must learn to differentiate our lessons. This may require us to change the way we deliver our lesson, change the activities for our lessons or even change the wording of our material so students understand. In this paper, I will be differentiating a lesson plan based on student readiness, student interest and student learning profile for content, process, and product.
Before the lesson is prepared, the teachers must have a clear understanding of the objectives of the lesson to be taught. By having an understanding of what they students will able to accomplish at the end of the lesson, the content remains focused and thorough. The teacher must then express these objectives to the students including the standards for performance. Students can then be held accountable for expectations that are known.

Every teacher must have a set of classroom routines and procedures to maintain order in the classroom. When entering the classroom, students will enter in a quiet manner. They will sit at their assigned desk and have all material ready to begin on required work. Once the bell rings and the door is closed, students will be seated and working. Tardiness is unacceptable and if the student receives more than three unexcused tardies per nine weeks, a referral will be given to the office and a phone call will be made the parent or guardian. Also, students should not be more than three minutes late to class. This will result in an automatic referral to the office.
After finishing the teaching part of the lesson, I realized that not everything goes according to plan. For example, in our lesson plan, we had the explain portion detailed and outlined to teach students the technical terms of what they were seeing in the stations and other activities and make it a collaborative effort within groups to work with the vocabulary words. However, the teaching of the plan was not well executed. Also, I learned that teaching a topic does not have to be boring or just full of worksheets. Fun, engaging lab stations and interactive activities can fulfill the standards and requirements just as well, if not better, than basic worksheets and PowerPoint lectures. Lastly, I realized that lesson planning and teaching require a great deal of effort and work, but it is all worth it when a light bulb goes off in a students’ head and they learn something new and are excited to be learning and extend their science
Lesson study refers to a Japanese program of developing teachers’ profession during their teaching experience. It is a translation from Japanese word Jugyokenkyo which literally means study or research (Fernandez & Yshida, 2012). Fernandez and Yushida (2012) define it as “lessons that are object of ones’ study”. It means that through lesson study, the teachers explore their teaching-based research goals through the several steps which they have defined them earlier. These steps include: collaborative planning, observation, discussion, revising, re-teaching, and sharing reflection. Also, Dudley (2014) defines lesson study as a procedure in which teams of teachers do planning, teaching, observing, and analyzing learning and teaching collaboratively.
Through the implementation of my lesson, I learned I have to work on the assessment and the details of lesson planning. During the planning of this lesson, the assessment was an aspect that needed more thought. The students had a problem with reading the words for the word sort and understanding the writing section. If I were to reteach the lesson I would add pictures to the words on the word sort to help the students to read and understand the words. In addition, I would include a sentence strip for the assessment that the students could copy but then finish the sentence on their own. The writing prompt was too hard for the students, I received various answers some students copied the prompt only while other students understood it and wrote appropriate answers.

In the process of completing this coursework, I have realised that every teacher should be all-rounded and equipped with adequate skills of educating others as well as self-learning. As a future educator, we need make sure that our knowledge is always up-to-date and applicable in the process of teaching and learning from time to time. With these skills, we will be able to improvise and improve the lesson and therefore boost the competency of pupils in the process of learning.
