It was very hard for me to start writing this paper. I was brainstorming with my husband over whom or what inspired me to attend college. I had lots of good ideas why or who helped me reach this point in my life. The morals I grew with, the current economy and the feeling that I had a point to prove was all just part of why choose to attend college. My husband went on to explain to me that all of these things and people were just a factor of why I choose to go back to school and pursue a degree in nursing. In that instance, I realized that it was only me who made the decision to attend college.
When choosing what to study in college I knew that whatever I choose to study had to involve helping people. I grew up caring for others. Helping people was something that was instilled in me by my family at a very early age. So, to me the most rewarding feeling is to know that I helped someone. As a LPN, it will be my sole purpose to help others that are sick or unable to perform daily task for themselves. The simple fact of knowing that I will be helping others every day will give me a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
The economy has also played a large role in why I have chosen to pursue a degree in the medical field. I did some research and found that the demand for nurses is very high. The job placement after college is very good as with other degrees that is not always true. I also found that the income is sufficient enough to provide a decent lifestyle for myself and my family. I feel comfortable knowing that no matter how bad the economy is I will have a job and be able to provide for my family.
Growing up I was always told that I had to attend college and be something great. So I guess in a sense I have to prove to myself and others that I can achieve this. When I graduate it will give me a piece of mind knowing that I did what I was destined to do. Graduating and receiving my degree will be one of my greatest accomplishments.
The point of this essay in my opinion was to never to give up on your dreams regardless of what you face. Dreams and goals give us purpose and when you follow through with them they can change your life. However all too often we tend to postpone our dreams, or completely give up on our dream even before it can grow. Instead of perusing them we inadvertently place them on Pause. I have dreamed of educating Nursing Students from the moment I graduated Nursing school however it is now 2014 and although I have worked in the Nursing field for 17 years I still today am not at the Educational Level to teach nursing students. Last year I began to ask myself, what is stopping me from really going after that? And after going through the usual scenarios of: “As soon as I have money enough I’ll starts” and “When my kids are grown I’ll start”
I decided at that moment that I would return to school and graduate with my bachelor?s degree. I made a promise to myself that I would finish my education. If I complete my education, I would make my parents proud of me. Plus, I want to be the first person on either side of my family to attend graduate school. Adults return to college primarily because they desire a higher paying career or a professional job. This could be a registered nurse, an elementary school teacher, a policeman or an attorney. It could also be an accountant, a journalist, a librarian, an interior decorator or a beautician (Smith, 2001).
The article I chose to analyze is “Is College for Everyone?” In today’s society, everyone would say that education is the key to success. People would say that a person would not get far without having some form of a degree. In reality, college is just not for everyone. Some people would rather just get a job when they graduate high school. People say that a person might not be able to find a good paying job if a person does not go to college, but in reality there are a lot of jobs out here in the world that make plenty of money. There are a lot of people in college that cannot read. They get to college, and flunk out because it gets too difficult for them to continue. Pharinet, a college professor, explains why college is not for everyone. The purpose of this essay is to convince people that
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
I believe that there is no nobler purpose than the endeavor to find freedom, and having said this, I want my college education to be more than an attempt to earn a degree. It is my hope that because of college I will realize...
Being the first one to attend college in my family has pushed me to continue my education. Now in today’s society a college degree is so important. I want my parents to be proud of me, and be happy with my high level career after college, and that starts with my education. I also hope to be an influence on my younger brother and show him that a college education is important. He looks up to me, and I need to be a good role model for him. I truly just want to get the best education and job for myself worth and make myself happy.
I don’t know what I plan on doing with my life, so I guess I just want my legacy to be that I’m a good person, and that I helped people. I want to be remembered as someone who accomplished things, or even just something. I want to be someone with a life worth living.
Of interest in this paper is why people choose to study nursing at university or college. From students just graduating high school to mature students who have prior degrees or education, nursing is a popular choice as a path to study at university or college. Much of the literature focuses on females in the role of nurses. There was seldom a mention of male and female students choosing to become nurses.
... this semester and after writing this paper, I have found out a few things about myself. I found out that I am very dedicated on the things that I do. I also really enjoy helping others and being happy. I think that becoming a nurse is what I need to do. I may not talk a lot but I talk with my actions and my actions will show that this is the right job for me.
Being able to take care of people is something that I wanted to do as a job when I was a child. As a child my parents bought me toy doctor kit. My father has been a diabetic since he was a kid and I would always do a check up with my toys and I always said he would be okay. I 've always been interested in healthcare since I was a young boy because I would be able to take care of and help people who are ill. Throughout this past year when my father was in the nursing home and in the hospital, I would learn what was going on with my dad from a medical level and then talking to him he would not be able to understand due to his dementia and I would be able to explain things to him so he could understand. The aspect of everything going on and talking to him about so he would not be more worried or upset made him feel more better and relaxed. Having the ability to do that with the patients I come in contact with each day is very rewarding to do that each and everyday. The more I do that the more I learn for myself and the patients I help take good care of
College is the main goal of my life. It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the SAT's to get into college. My GPA and SAT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my business career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
I have not had a single accomplishment that is worth writing about but I feel that my college completion will be one accomplishment that I will be most proud. I feel that I am taking one step forward in life that will make me become a more successful person.
From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field, not because the amount of money doctors, nurses and other health professionals made, but because of the dedication and contentment I saw on their faces helping someone in need. Growing up everyone wanted to become a doctor or a nurse and as a little child being a doctor or a nurse was a profession many parents wanted their child to pursue as a career. Needless to say, I fell into that category because I had high hopes that one day I will become a nurse. However, that dream came to a halt.
I have always wanted to become a nurse since I was a little girl, seeing both of my grandmothers working in a hospitals and always helping everyone in need. My goals in becoming a nurse is just the basic foundation of just helping people who physically cannot help themselves. I want to be able to shed light in people's lives who are losing it because of their situation. I feel as nurses is the backbone in the hospital. The nurses are there day in and day out with the patients, holding their hands and walking them and their families throughout such a difficult time. Nurses are also their supporting the doctors and all other staff. I’ve found especially in these past few years that I want to spend my life helping others and that's what I can
