First-Generation College Student: Pursuing Medical Education

Being the first one to attend college in my family has pushed me to continue my education. Now in today’s society a college degree is so important. I want my parents to be proud of me, and be happy with my high level career after college, and that starts with my education. I also hope to be an influence on my younger brother and show him that a college education is important. He looks up to me, and I need to be a good role model for him. I truly just want to get the best education and job for myself worth and make myself happy. I have chosen to go into the medical field because I love to help people and make them feel better. I will be studying Biology and minoring in Psychology in Pre medicine. There are many other jobs that help people out, like social workers, teachers, and police force. Those are great jobs but the medical field gives a person a certain kind of adrenalin. I was in a car accident which my car was rolled into a field, three feet from hitting a tree. It would be an honor to get a job in a hospital studying the brain, and researching different brain diseases. I would love to come up with a new cure to a brain disease that would help millions all over. I would go to any hospital that needed a job in my study, just so I can help others. I have always been I would say obsessed with the brain. It is crazy to think that each part of the brain does a different function for the human body, and one hit or virus could affect all of that. But with my studies I hope to have a cure so that those that worry how they will pay the bills, if their loved ones are going to live another day will not have to worry anymore. Attending college will just be the first step to my goal. After my undergraduate schooling, I will apply for medical school in pursue to get my doctorate's degree.
