My top five strengths include relator, adaptability, strategic, competition, and focus. When getting the results back from my Gallup strengths report I couldn’t believe how well it described me. First is relator, because of my strengths I have friends that come to me for guidance, suggestions, or recommendations. By my talents, I occasionally feel pleased when friends seek my counsel. Even being asked for guidance uplifts me. I feel really good about life when I give myself credit for reducing difficult-to-understand ideas. I grasp the concept of “less is more” better than some people do. Chances are good that I sometimes identify with people who share their ambitions, hopes, or intentions. my own personal potential. I always know when I am doing my best work or earning the highest grades I possibly can. Secondly is adaptability, I prefer to just “go with the flow” in some cases.
I also tend to be a “now” person in which I take things as they come, and I discover the future one day at a time. By nature, I feel more upbeat about life when I can simply deal with situations as they come. My strengths best gravitate me to roles where I can handle tasks or deal with issues as they arise. Life is wonderful when I have the freedom to do what I decide is necessary. I can be grumpy on days when I am forced to follow a rigid schedule or procedure. Chances are good that I do my best work when I am allowed to deal with the day’s challenges as they approach. I am driven by my talents, and I trust myself to deal with whatever happens. Perhaps I even rely on my core values to sustain myself in facing uncertainty. The principles by which I live might permit me to accept life’s unexpected and unpredictable …show more content…
occurrences. Thirdly is strategic, It’s very likely that I feel good about myself or life in general when I know the exact words to express an idea or feeling. Occasionally, my ever-expanding vocabulary earns me compliments. By nature, I feel satisfied with life when my innovated thinking style is appreciated. I pinpoint trends, notice problems, and identify opportunities some people overlook. Armed with this knowledge, I devise alternative courses of action. By evaluating the circumstances, available resources, and potential consequences of each plan. Perhaps I can select the best option. Driven by my talents, I can appease-that is, calm-some people by using logic to reduce a task, process, program, routine, recipe, or machine to its simplest parts. People appreciate my ability to explain why something that confuses them is easy to understand. I enliven my presentations by drawing diagrams, telling stories, or giving examples to illustrate my key points. Chances are good that I feel wonderful when people value my innovative ideas. Perhaps I even envision what can be accomplished in the coming months, years, or decades. Instinctively, I may be viewed as an original thinker. I can even generate opinions that cause others to see that there is more than one way to attain an object. Now and then, I help certain individuals to select the best alternative after having weighed the pros and cons in light of prevailing circumstances or available resources. Fourthly is competition, and I strive to win first place every time in all honesty. It’s very likely that I excel at higher levels rather than usual when I am allowed to work on my own. I usually work hard to reach specific personal or professional goals. Challenge that relates to status motivates me more than others do. My strengths make me want to be the very best in certain fields or activities. I’ve realized that excellence is the result of not only hard work, but also a top quality of materials and people. This partially explains why I devote myself to some activities but not to others. I am driven to be the very best. This explains why I continue to go ahead in the face of difficulties or even near exhaustion. When comparisons are made, I yearn to be a winner. My motivation to excel likely matches my need to be declared trustworthy, knowledgeable, and accomplished. Chances are good that I sometimes pursue courses of study that force myself to expand my thinking. Now and then, acquiring certain kinds of knowledge or skills is exhilarating. I want to be the topmost producer or the best student. I may feel restless until scores, ratings, grades, or rankings are finalized. These insights calm me when the margin of victory is narrow or the outcome is uncertain. Lastly is focus, I prioritize, then act.
Driven by my talents, I look forward to days when I can make decisions about what to do and how to do it. Drifting haphazardly from one day to the next or from one year to the next makes me uncomfortable. I need to monitor my progress to avoid wasting time on the wrong activities. I tend to work diligently to govern situations, decisions, or plans. Instinctively, I like to participate in discussion where decisions are made about what an individual or group needs to accomplish in the near-term or the long-term. It’s very likely that I attempt to regulate what happens in my life. Perhaps I even sense that I have the power to determine what I will and will not do. Chances are good that I might even devote some of my attention to immediate tasks or challenges. This partially explains why I give myself time to comprehend what I read on the printed page or the computer screen. Diligence, persistence, and concentration could be three of my distinguishing
traits. Even though all of these pertain to describing me, I feel that there are still missing pieces. I would really like to know my weaknesses, so that I am able to compare my strengths to my weaknesses; I know that the whole point is to focus on our strengths so that we are able to be more confident in ourselves. I will definitely use this information through-out my future experiences.
Strengths Finder 2.0 uses an online assessment to evaluate the individuals unique talents by having the taker rate how they view a particular question in 20 seconds or less (Rath, 2007). After taking the assessment, my five strengths were determined to be achiever, maximizer, input, arranger, and relator (Gallup StrengthsFinder, 2012).
I dislike being stressed out, and I don’t like to have to choose. No one likes to be forced into something, and I don’t like to be forced into decisions. I have always been known to be dependent and to be very indecisive, both of which come hand in hand. I recognize the importance of being able to take yourself, but not everyone is the same and I’m just a little less independent than others. I like being around people
My personal strengths are that I read and remember things well from most sources. I can process new information easily which helps with various forms of math and science. However, I also possess several weaknesses. I sometimes shy
One behavior that I tend to exhibit is stress. I often worry about things, like the future, and anticipate on this going wrong often. “You think about how your choices and their consequences could affect you down the road.” (“My Virtual Life” Emerging Adulthood) “You’ve thought about the future some, and will probably be feeling worried the more you think about it.” (“My Virtual Life” Emerging Adulthood) I need to relax a little about things, and let life happen as it does. The majority of things that I worry about are beyond my control. This might serve as obstacles later in life because stress can lead to health problems. A lifetime of stress can hurt your heart and blood pressure, along with other things.
Understanding one’s strengths and weaknesses is essential to becoming and being a good leader. “Purposeful leaders understand who they are” (Mayfield, 2013). The author of this paper has had previous opportunities to lead, and will reflect on her experiences using the assigned inventory. She will evaluate her skill set and discuss ways she can be an advocate for change with the hospital and community in which she is employed. Lastly, she will identify one personal goal for her leadership growth and explore different avenues for obtaining that goal.
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. As Roth states in Strengths Finder 2.0, we as a present day world tend to focus on and try to overcome our weaknesses rather that building up our strengths. Using our natural talents can help us do the best we can and help us be a better asset. After taking the strengths assessment, I found that my top five strengths themes ended up being: relator, discipline, competition, responsibility, and significance.
I have always had the “you only like once” mentality. So, I tend to do things on the whim. An example of this would be when I decided to take my brother to Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. I made the decision to go at around one in the morning and at seven in the morning we were on the road to go to State College, PA. The VALS survey also categorized my secondary type to an Innovator. Innovators typically are always taking in information, are confident enough to experiment, make the highest number of financial transactions, are skeptical about advertising, have international exposure, are future oriented, are self-directed consumers, believe science and R&D are creditable, are most receptive to new ideas and technologies, enjoy the challenge of problem solving and have the widest variety of interest and activities. I also believe that the description of the Innovator was spot on as well. I have always been future oriented. I have always had a path that I was going to follow for my future. Even though some things didn’t go as planned. I would have a backup plan. For example, my original plan was to major in Finance at the University of
My top strength is Individualization. To me, this strength means the ability to figure people out and understand the true uniqueness of others. With this strength, I am able to make things run smoothly and, at the same time, able to involve everyone in a group. The next strength I have is strategic, which enables me to find alternative ways to deal with problems. Therefore, I am also able to make things run smoothly and according to plan. In addition to these two strengths, my third strength is competitive which measures how successful I am compared against others. This is great because it helps me to endure and work hard in order to make it to the top. My fourth strength is restorative which is a talent that helps me to deal with any problems that may arise and ensure that things continue going according to plan. This strength means that I can endure and overcome any adversity that comes my way. My last strength is achiever. This is a strength that helps me to work hard and always be productive. Being an achiever maintains my ability to always keep going and to constantly feel the need to be productive.
This tendency impacts my life currently because it teaches me patience. It mainly teaches me to think intelligently, instead of impulsively, which will benefit me in the long run.
Furthermore, despite a fundamental lack of control of the inevitable, I believe that my time commitments do result in meaningful action. Though time may cycle, my actions and their cons...
As humans, we all struggle in many ways, and that includes me. Throughout the seventeen years I have lived, I have learned many things. Challenges have passed through my path of succeeding, but I learn how to live and learn from those mistakes/problems. Many strengths and weaknesses have built up as each day comes along whether it’s communication, teamwork, or even being too sensitive. How will this affect me? It will affect me in my future path of becoming a registered nurse (RN). I have set my mind to control all these actions as each problem comes along. Being too sensitive would have to be the action I would lack the most. I admit, I do take some things for personal, but who doesn’t, right? We are all humans. As I start predicting my future, I let myself know that this has to change, and I can’t stay like this forever. Since as my job as a nurse, I will have patients that will be rude and stubborn or lovely and joyful. Some days co-workers won’t be having a good day, and bring all their problems to
What did you say that you could do to support them in using their strengths?
I care very much about my life as a whole and want it to flourish to great extent. I have always been a very career-oriented person and my future is what is most important to me. I am willing to do whatever it takes to strive. I am willing to work hard and struggle towards my goal, no matter how difficult the feat.
Other strengths include being self-confident, conscientious, diligent and determined. It was interesting to see my lower scores as well; the lowest average score was sensitivity (3.2), followed closely by self-assuredness and perception and empathy. Although I consider myself sensitive, I believe the sense of sensitivity does not apply as often towards others I interact with. For example, I often speak my mind and voice my opinion with little thought of the consequence or impact it might have on those around me. Thus, sensitivity is not one of my existing strengths, but rather an opportunity for growth. I also found it interesting to note how I scored significantly lower in the human skill, and higher in technical, which I did not expect. This score likely correlates with my score form the LTQ, which identified room for improvement in relating with
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
