IMSA has a great community, which is one of the main reason I am applying. IMSA has great opportunities to forward an interest in the medical and STEM field, which tend to go hand and hand. Not only do I think that the critical thinking and independent research classes will help benefit me and the peers I will work with, I believe that the extracurricular activities at IMSA are what really makes this school stand out. At the school I currently go to, they prioritize sports over most other extracurriculars, with the highest funded club being the debate and speech teams. Even though these clubs are important in building teamwork and leadership abilities, they are very limited in learning about medical and STEM terms. This is why I believe that the clubs at IMSA such as their science olympiad team will help me learn more about the field that I love. By having peers that will constantly challenge me every day, this will make me strive to become better than them and have something to work for.

The AMGEN Summer Scholars research experience will contribute to my plans to become a M.D./Ph.D. candidate, and ultimately an Oncologist, by helping me develop critical and independent thinking as well as creative skills as they relate to the field of medicine. It will also help me develop a more thorough understanding of biological concepts, how they directly apply to medical treatment, and the ways in which biotechnology fuses multiple fields of science to create technologies to care for others. The opportunity to assist in creation of the technologies that will be used on my future patients will ultimately improve my ability to treat their illnesses in adaptive ways. The opportunity I would have to read, interpret, and be a part of creating

I would like to thank Salish Kootenai College for giving me the wonderful opportunity of applying for STEM academy. If somebody had told me that I would be applying for college classes as a sophomore, I would not have believed them. My parents have always told me that when an opportunity comes, you should take it, and I do not plan on letting this experience go to waste. Education has been a big part of my life, and this academy can only help me move forward. That being said, here are a few reasons why I should be considered a candidate for the STEM academy. Joining the STEM academy will allow me to further my knowledge and help me to get closer to my goals, my academic career would flourish, and I would be closer to my ambition for my future. I am determined to become the best and most educated version of myself that I can possibly be.
Born and raised by parents working in the medical field, I have always had the urge to follow up on on a health related career. Despite never being pressured into choosing scientific subjects as my academic studies, I deeply admired what a long way science has come and longed to give my contribution to this fascinating world. I am presently studying for my A-levels at St.Aloysius Sixth form in Malta, a college for high achievers.
Practicing in the medical field is a respectable profession, since its main goal is to help others when they are in need. I hope through the mentoring program I will be able to decide if a Certified Medical Assistant is the job for me.
I want to be in ASB because I think that this is a great opportunity for me to practice my leadership skills to help all students at Medea Creek. I enjoy helping people and working with others and I know that ASB is a wonderful chance for me to do so. I know that our school should have voices that help others who cannot speak up for themselves and I will help them raise their voices in school. I want to be part of ASB because I think that this can help me mature, and also help achieve my goal for life, which is becoming the president of the U.S. I believe that ASB is a unique opportunity to help me become a game-changer in our school and community. ASB students make changes in their community every day. I think that that is an amazing thing, getting to impact your community every single day.
I began my college career unsure of the path ahead of me. I knew I had a passion for medicine, however, I did not know which direction I would take. With the expansive amount of options offered within the fields of science and medicine, it was difficult to narrow down exactly what direction I wanted to take. I gained some clarity the summer of my sophomore year when I stayed at a close friend’s home, whose father, a practicing Medical Physician, became somewhat of a mentor to me. The passionate way in which he discussed the practice of medicine led me to develop an interest in pursuing a career as a physician. He explained that a career in the medical field was about responsibility, the responsibility to work with all members of the healthcare team for the well-being of the patient as well as their family
My time is split between the Emergency room and the Intensive care unit. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the attending on the floors, I make frequent rounds of patients to assess their needs, assist with the loved ones and my personal favorite, accompanying doctors and nurses on morning rounds. I have the opportunity to compare notes from previous rounds and ask questions to better understand their condition. This opportunity has brought to my attention the more rewarding side of medicine and has proved, by far, the most useful work experience I have had in preparing for my journey. I knew for sure that this was what I wanted to do when I realized that even the dullest days wouldn't make me love it any less. Everything was as it should be. I was where I belonged and I've never looked back since. I realize that the journey of becoming a doctor will not be easy. I expect long hours, endless studying, emotional and physical exhaustion. However the passion and motivation with which I approach things will be all I need which are qualities a great doctor should attain, and I am confident in my abilities to complete my journey. With much research, discussions with my admission representatives and attendance at numerous webinars, I determined that AUA is the right institution for me. In the process of choosing the right school, the most important factor for me is an institution where I
These experiences have contributed to my decision to pursue an advanced degree in the healthcare/biomedical field and helped to clarify the path towards accomplishing my goals. As I progressed in my position, I continued to associate with peers/colleagues, scientist, administrators and other professionals, I continued to gather experiences in the administrative or lab support roles, and these experiences helped me to cement my interest in healthcare administration/ or biomedical support
Curiosity, ambition, determination and passion are the core constituents that have driven me into the field of biology. I am a very analytical and a punctilious individual. I have always been fascinated by the components of biology since I was a child. I have always been curious and always had the desire to learn to enhance my knowledge. Hard-work and dedication are the building blocks for success. I can remember as a child picking up insects from outside and taking them inside my house to dissect them with a safety pin and play pretend that I was a biologists. I can remember in middle school entering a plethora of small school science projects and winning certificates for outstanding biology student. This immense inertia for investigation and careful scrutiny has propelled my love for science and will expand as I go in-depth in the field of biology. I love to solve complex problems and love being stimulated intellectually. I succeeded in advance biology when I was in high school and have done well in most of my biology classes in college. I have this unequivocal desire to achieve w...
Becoming a successful clinical physician who can be a great help to people’s life and healthhas been my great ambition that I have been pursuing since I was a high school student.
Throughout my time at the University of Central Arkansas I developed an interest in the anatomy, physiology, and health of a human being. The courses I have taken have challenged me and helped me grow intellectually. In my clinical experiences through my internship, I have been able to apply the information given to me in lecture. Everyday I learned something new in Structure and Functions
I have chosen to apply to your esteemed university because of your innovative science department. My goal is to major in Biomedical Engineering, so that I can research new ways to support others. Learning and discovering ways to help people with medical challenges is my passion. I will sacrifice many years learning in college, but I can connect this to times when I decide to study late or work on activities that could help my future everyday rather than hanging out with my friends. I understand that being disciplined now will build my strong work ethic.
