The figures of attendance at the Universal Studios as compared to Disneyland state that the former’s annual attendance is less than even half of the later. However, the success stories of Harry Potter shows ominous signs that Universal is gaining in strength to give Disneyland a good competition, if not surpass the same. Disneyland marked the onset of theme parks in the nation, which was carved out of a fantasy tale and it has been the leader for 60 years. And, there was virtually no competition to the attraction quotient that attracted people and tourists to visit the theme park. In the recent times, another castle which has come to the limelight in California is Universal Studios Hollywood, which has risen in heaps and bounds and is currently poised to threaten the position and the royalty of Disneyland as the premier theme park. …show more content…
The path to success was laid by the opening of the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” According to reports, over $1.6 billion will be spend in upgradation work to bring it at par with Disneyland.
The Studios added a new attraction to their repertoire – a six acre land featuring the Hogwarts Castle which resembles of the school of Wizarding depicted in the books and movies of Harry Potter. It is being predicted that Disneyland will see a dip due Harry Potter. However, Disneyland too is in the process of adding more attractions. There is a 14 acre expansion plan which would resemble Star Wars. The spokesperson of Disneyland, Suzi Brown has said that, Disney would continue to raise the bars of theme parks and strive to provide an unique experience to tourists. This arms race, however, would do a lot of good for the industry and people as
well.
My opinion though is that Universal Studios Orlando is awesome and fun that a lot of people will enjoy. Some information about Universal Studios is that it has a lot of different types of rides. They have different sections of the park with different types of themes like the Harry Potter theme. That is one of its biggest attractions to the park. There is so much to do at the park you can go on rides, eat at restaurants, or just walk around the park
When it first opened, there was moderate controversy over the lack of African American employees. Since 1963, civil rights activists have pressured Disneyland to hire people of different races to make the park more diverse. Back then Disneyland had a number of temporary rides and shows that passed through rather quickly. This was because the park only had about half the number of attractions it has now. When Disneyland first opened guests were charged separately for admission to the park and attraction tickets. According to the website mouseplanet accessed on November 16 2015, “Adults could get into the park for $1 and rides cost between 10-30 cents.” Since its opening, Disneyland has undergone a number of expansions and major renovations. This includes the addition of New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country in 1972, and Mickey's Toontown in 1993. As stated in the article Then and Now on the pbs website accessed on November 16 2015, “Tickets to enter the park now cost around $85.00.” Since the opening the park has restored many classic attractions such as Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise, and the Haunted
People have always had empathy and Disneyland movies and the theme park changed the way that they ran those things. The opening of Disneyland impacted America in the 1950s since it allowed adults to experience a child’s imagination and its continued importance today can be seen through everything in life. How does Disneyland impact society? Walt Disney had a vision: a place where children and adults could experience what it would feel like to be in a real life fairy tale and let their imagination run wild. When Disneyland opened its gates in 1955, came the change America wanted super badly, to be able to experience a real life Utopia for only one dollar. It changed the way the world saw not only amusements parks, but also a child’s imagination.
The company know its various revenue generating streams very well. The Disney also sees immense possibility in the sequels of the character based movies. The success of Avengers is a recent example and therefore the company plans a sequel for Captain America 2, Iron Man 3 etc. This will boasts the overall revenue generated by the company. The company is now betting heavily on the introduction of theme parks across the globe especially in emerging markets like China, India, Brazil and Russia (BRIC nations). The growth rate of 10% in theme parks and successful implementation of theme parks in Hong Kong, Japan and France allows the company to develop and construct the Disneyland theme park in Shanghai, China. The presence of 330 million consumers around the Shanghai is yet another key factor that made the Disney to invest approximately $5.5 billion in this park. Without doubt, the market for Disney is growing across the globe and emerging and fast growing economies offers a huge opportunity for the growth and development. The China expanded its economy at 10% growth rate in the past straight 30 years therefore the Walt Disney will sees the immense growth from its theme park in

One of the key factors of the successful diversification is the very strong branding of the name Disney. That the name was famous after the success in the early years made it among other things possible to go into the theme park industry. Evaluated isolated, the theme parks was a success. But when also accounting for the synergies created, the decision to go into this industry was a huge success. It has created a spiral of synergies, where the characters in the movies get more popular due to the parks, as well as the fact that when people are visiting the parks they get stimulated to buy the merchandise. This is just one example of the synergies that exist in Disney. When Michael Eisner took over control in Disney, he kept focusing on same corporate values as earlier, which are quality, creativity, entrepreneurialism and teamwork. These values have been preserved despite of the size of Disney, and are an important factor in sustaining and building the Disney brand.
...were the major reasons for the lower sales. They overlooked the opportunity to profit on the established costumers need for Theme Park entertainment because they did not realized who in fact were their customers.
This has affected House of Travel in the past impacting visitor arrivals and less people wanting to travel. This could impact Walt Disney World in the same manner causing a decrease in visitor numbers which leads to less revenue that the Disney company earns.
The Walt Disney Company is known throughout the world as a leader in entertainment. The strategies that the Walt Disney Company have used include competitive advantage, a growth strategy, and a renewal strategy. When a person mentions a theme park, Disney is the first park that comes to mind. They were not the first theme park, but they have mastered the art of creating memories for adults and children alike. As a former employee of Disney I can vouch for the amount of effort that goes into creating memories for families. Disney is a leader when it comes to the theme park business, and other parks look at Disney as a leader. An example of this is that other parks will not raise admission prices, until Disney first raises their prices. WESH.com said "It remains to be seen if Disney's move will trigger a round of similar increases at other Orlando theme parks. Historically, when Disney raises its prices, the other parks follow" (2011, p.1). There is not a company in the world that can provide the "magic" that the Walt Disney World company can provide (Disney.com, 2011).
Hong Kong Government believed building Disneyland Resort could invest tourism. One of the 4 pillar economic sectors in Hong Kong suggested by few years later, it could increase the attractiveness of Hong Kong and help the economy in Hong Kong. Also, The Walt Disney Company believed Hong Kong is a new market because it is a stepping-stone to enter Chinese Market. It had experience to open a new market in other countries, like in Tokyo and Paris, and able to make Hong Kong Disneyland Resort well. Therefore, they gathered togethe...
With the exception of Legoland, each of these resorts is made up of several individual parks, from water parks and wildlife-themed properties to branded entertainment centers, such as the area's newest addition, Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Orlando is home to more
It actually costs more to go on a trip to see our cousin's in Vermont than going to Disneyland. I have been to Disneyland five times in my life and the total cost for all trips was about $20,000 for three nights and four days. My family has visited my cousin's house three times and the total cost for all the trips was about $16,500 for only two nights and three days. That means Disneyland costs about $4,000 for each trip and a trip to our cousin's house in Vermont costs exactly $4,125. That is totally ridiculous.
Disneyland through its long history of serving people across the world with their premium services had to keep to their words Hong Kong Disneyland website (2018). The employees must live up to the expectations for which people are paying greater than average price.
