Growing up, my family set multiple expectations for me and my siblings. And those were to finish school, to get married, have kids and watch them live their life’s. However, that’s not exactly how’d I picture my future to be. All of us here deserve the right to an education, creating the perfect Quality world. The first step to creating a quality world is keeping a professional attitude throughout college, this will stick with me even when I have my career as nurse and beyond that. Many teachers over the years asked us, “Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?” and my answer will always be the same. I see myself with a family, happily married and working the career of my dreams. On the other hand, when teachers ask my fellow classmates the same question their answer changes every time. Your response shouldn’t change due to the fact that you work hard for what you want it life. But sometimes life knocks you down hard due to certain barriers in your pathway. To me, I only have one obstacle in my …show more content…
I on the hand tend to make time for everything, even my family, because without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. My results from the personal assessment was that I work better when I know I have support. To summarize, I see myself as worthwhile, like I have a purpose in life. With my career goal chosen not only, will my personality help me to succeed beyond my goals, it will also open new doors for me as well. I’ve always had the passion to help people ever since I was a little girl, but I just didn’t know how. That all changed when I went to the hospital and was kept there for over a month. That experience changed my life forever, the way those nurses and doctors gave their all to save a life was breath taking. And I knew that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my
The point of this essay in my opinion was to never to give up on your dreams regardless of what you face. Dreams and goals give us purpose and when you follow through with them they can change your life. However all too often we tend to postpone our dreams, or completely give up on our dream even before it can grow. Instead of perusing them we inadvertently place them on Pause. I have dreamed of educating Nursing Students from the moment I graduated Nursing school however it is now 2014 and although I have worked in the Nursing field for 17 years I still today am not at the Educational Level to teach nursing students. Last year I began to ask myself, what is stopping me from really going after that? And after going through the usual scenarios of: “As soon as I have money enough I’ll starts” and “When my kids are grown I’ll start”
All the personality tests I’ve taken in class, such as sigi3 and DWYA, suggest I could pursue a career in my chosen field. Based on my personality type, I like caring for people and “helping others reach their full potential” (Do What You Are 2014). Because of my desire to help people and my attention to detail, pursuing a career as a nurse practitioner would be perfect for me. In conclusion, my path to becoming a nurse practitioner is going to take a while, but in the end it will ultimately pay off. Based on my personality tests and my qualities, I will be very happy in my chosen field.
My extracurricular and academic activities have helped mold me into a person with character and good qualities. These qualities--respect, humility, kindness, ambition, appreciation for diversity and collaboration, and courage--have not come without valuable failures and lessons. I can continue to develop these qualities and build upon these lessons as I go forward with my university goals and the desire I have to enter the healthcare profession as a nurse. I am able to look beyond the exciting, glamorous parts of both and see that there will be lots of hard work and difficulty. I am ready to face those challenges and do my best and give my all.
I am about to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington obtaining the BSN degree, this event marks a milestone in my personal and professional life. The RN to BSN program has allowed me to push my abilities to the limits and I have probe to myself that I can achieve anything that I put my mind and efforts to. For example, I was able to work full time, studying, being a mother and wife, all at the same time. I have enhance my knowledge and skills, I improved myself; I have become a professional nurse and a better human being. Now I firmly believe that I can accomplish my goal and become a Family Nurse Practitioner; I know that I can succeed achieving my personal and professional goals. On the class Transition to Professional Nursing, we discussed about different theorist, I
When I first heard “Quality World,” I thought of everybody having equal right and of civil rights. That was until I found out about a man by the name of William Glasser an American psychiatrist. Glasser, he developed the “choice theory” also known as “quality world”. Which basically says that since you were young have always had an idea of what would make your life perfect and understand what is important to you. So when I visualize my Quality world I see myself seven or nine years in the future out of school and accomplishing my goal to become a lawyer. I grew up in a household with immigrants I always saw how much they would struggle. Yet the one thing that stood out to me was how the lawyer would take advantage of these types of people from
Being the first one to attend college in my family has pushed me to continue my education. Now in today’s society a college degree is so important. I want my parents to be proud of me, and be happy with my high level career after college, and that starts with my education. I also hope to be an influence on my younger brother and show him that a college education is important. He looks up to me, and I need to be a good role model for him. I truly just want to get the best education and job for myself worth and make myself happy.
Becoming a nurse is probably my most noteworthy achievement. Neither of my parents or any family member have ever been to college. My family was never in the best life circumstances of me leaving for college. Yet, I was privileged enough to be able to put myself through school financially, by working various jobs. Being able to achieve my Bachelor's degree from an accredited school is a great achievement I am proud of. Becoming a nurse was the easy part though, the relationships that developed through my experiences have become my most meaningful and difficult achievements. Day in and day out I see people at their worst. People are stressed, hurt and afraid. I love being able to give them strength, hope and compassion. This relationship works both ways though. Patients', their families and their lives have taught me so much. The experiences nursing has given have become my most meaningful achievements. My goal to pursue advanced practice nursing will only further these achievements. I hope to encourage people more, teaching them how to take control of their lives in whatever way they see fit. I know I cannot teach passion, but I hope to inspire people by having them witness the passion that I have, passion that I have acquired by watching patients and their experiences. I fully anticipate to keep giving my gift to wherever the
First and foremost, nursing is not just a job. It is a profession that requires giving “self” every minute, of everyday. Though job security and salary can be added benefits, they simply could never surpass the emotional, psychological, and physical components that nursing requires. Some might think it is alarming that at the point of preceptorship, the end of a student’s career, he or she believes job security and salary are the reasons to go into this field, even worse that he or she would admit it to a seasoned nurse. In a moment like this, the preceptor will have to take a deep breath, close her eyes, and remember all the moments in her career that kept her going.
My parents have always taught my sisters and me about the importance of school, graduating, and doing my best. As a child, I attended Lyman Hall elementary from kindergarten to fifth grade. After that, I went to West Hall Middle School to West Hall High School, where I fortunately graduated in 2015. Now, I am a nineteen year old student at the University of North Georgia. Hopefully, I plan to continue college and graduate, being the second one in my family, with a nurse bachelor degree. As I walk through the campus, I see a variety of women working hard to gain a better education and lifestyle for themselves and their families. However, education was not the same from what it was in the past to what it is
It is with parents, teachers, and other leaders before us that we are molded and fine-tuned to better envision our future. As nursing students we begin school with insecurities that can be exacerbated by the unfamiliar world of nursing and health care. According to Robinson (2009), faculty have the power to influence and provide opportunities to create an environment for discussions of errors and allow the analysis of the causes and creation of plans to avoid future mistakes” (p. 5). This type of servant teacher leadership can lead a student to achieve personal and professional growth and promotes student success. Robinson (2009) goes on to say that, it is with those faculty who listen and respond to students, who demonstrate skills of listening and empathy, in which students emulate and carry with them in professional practice (p. 6). I have always had that drive for continuous improvement, not only for myself but for others as well. The health care profession is a humble experience and a test of character. Throughout nursing school and our assigned clinicals, I’ve realized that while working in health care can be very difficult, especially in trying situations, one must also consider the community around you and the support they possess. These types of experiences slowly seep into your being and slowly change the way you think and make you consider your
“Lifelong learning is attitudinal; that one can and should be open to new ideas, decisions, skills or behaviors” (Geinare, p. 7, 2012). Staying up with current practices and the evolving changes in health care there will always be opportunities to learn and to grown both professionally and personally. It is essential for nurses to maintain their competences within the basics of nurses as well as their specialty. Maintaining flexibility in the approach to teach others such as students, peers, and other clinical staff educators must meet the diverse needs to accommodate everyone. Within the past four years I have be able to accomplish goals that felt impossible to reach. Keeping positive people, a good attitude, and believe in myself have all contributes to my success which I will continue over the course of my career as a Nurse Educator. I foresee a bright future for myself and have shared wit you on how I plan to achieve my short terms goals as well as long term
As a senior in high school many students ponder the big question of life that seems to be asked by many. No that question is not where do you want to go to college, what are you doing after high school, that question would be where do you see yourself in ten years. As I reflect on my childhood I have many dreams and aspirations that I would like to accomplish within the next ten years of my life. In ten years I can see myself having many of my goal accomplished, if not accomplished, I will be working on accomplishing those goals to fulfill my life.
I have the ability to balance work and time to relax. It is very important to me that I do what I love and love what I do. When an individual is doing what they are meant to do, they realize their potential and purpose in life. I feel that this correlates to me in my life now, because I chose to come to Limestone to play softball and get an education as a Health Care Administrator. I am satisfied everyday in both of these important goals and reward myself for the accomplishments that I achieve to reach those goals. I one-day hope to contribute my skills and talents to my work that will be rewarding to me and people I work for. I hope to attain job satisfaction and many other important components needed for my path to becoming successful in the
I was visiting my brother in Massachusetts when I got sick on the airplane. I went to the emergency room and I was immediately admitted into the hospital. The doctor recognized my symptoms and immediately took action to medically treat my condition. I enjoyed my week stay in the hospital because the nurses and I became so close and the nurses were there for me when I needed them. The nurses kept me inform, comfort me by making me feel everything was going to be alright. The nurses that took care of me genuinely cared and guided me each step to recovery. This life changing experience gave me inspiration to continue my dream of becoming a
When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be “turning the key” for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life. I have worked in so many jobs in so many areas but nothing was fulfilling my life with any amount of meaning. I found myself not wanting to go back the next day or wishing I were somewhere else. Well I guess everyone does that is what I would tell myself.
